  • The Archimedian solid with vertex of 4 triangles and 1 square (also known as a "snub cube") is modeled as 38 planes (6 squares and 32 triangles). The lines that form the intersections of the adjacent planes are first calculated. Then the intersections of those lines define the vertices of the solid. A two dimensional representation is then obtained by rendering a polygon formed from the vertices associated with each face. Faces pointing away from the viewer are not rendered. Faces pointing towards the viewer are rendered in order of their direction with the face closest to pointing at the viewer rendered last. The picture is then animated by rotating the underlying solid in x (across the screen), y (up and down the screen), and z (towards the viewer). In this animation 8,999 rotations are shown with twists of x = 0.02 degrees, y = 0.6 degrees, z = 0.002 degrees applied at each step.
