      @ShovelShovel but it can also mean that once said person sees an ad like this and skips it after the required time laps. Doesn't mean they won't see it in their feed (like myself). So it could also mean that people have viewed it but refuse to comment cause they chosen to not actually believe the facts. The problem is people (not all) don't want to hear the truth in fear of being hurt. So they shy away and go to were something or someone makes sense and feels comfortable to their life (e.i. an escape to a world outside the real world - The Sims/World of Warcraft). Personally, I'd rather you hurt me with the truth then lie to my face.

    Here's a fact Steve missed: In getting to 335 million, we have wiped out 85% of wildlife. We lost 2.5 billion birds alone. Mostly due to habitat destruction. If we continue to grow 2 million people a year, we will be approaching 500 million by 2100. How well do we think the remaining 15% of wildlife will survive when the humans number almost a half billion? A country jammed coast to coast with people and no wildlife is not a place where I want to live.
    If we went back to 1970 population levels, it would take tremendous pressure off of our environment, our land, and our society. Lower housing costs, lower food costs, more open spaces: This whole system of endless growth is ridiculous.

    I am appreciative of all good people, and I would like the USA to be a welcoming place. Sadly, a lot of wealth has been amassed by a small group of people, so times are really tough for most people. It is a good review of the immigration numbers...thank you. It would be most informative to also review and compare the fate of those unauthorized immigrants of different categories once they are in the US with that of native born citizens and authorized immigrants. Workforce participation patterns, criminal conduct (not including the violation of unauthorized immigration itself), tax payments, receipt of government services such as healthcare, financial, housing, education. Computation of net financial benefit Vs. burden of immigrants by category. Finally, a review of economic impact, growth Vs. decline of immigration from the various categories. The role of immigrants' roles in founding S&P 500 companies is apparent, but what of the rest of the economy?

    It says a lot about a country when people are willing to risk rape and beatings, theft and even trafficking to get to a country. And we are just a few that people really desperately want to go to. I have seen other places. Some are nice if you already have money, but are tough to work if you were born there to a working class family. Seems many countries in Eastern Europe still have a lot of the hold over mentality from the days of being in the Soviet system. Pay was and remained poor for years before and even for a long time after the Fall of the Soviet Union.
    That did open the doors for NATO and the EU to come into Eastern Europe and start to turn things around. Unfortunately, Russia is still bribing Government officials to resist the EU/NATO systems, and you get countries that seem to be sitting on the Fence between fully adopting the necessary improvements to governance, banking, finance accounting, transparency and of course corruption and still holding on to the "Russian" way of doing things.

      Russia strongly feels that NATO is a military alliance HOSTILE to Russian interests and Russian security.

    Not mentioned isn’t the video, U.S. immigration law also requires that asylum seekers (aka illegal immigrants) remain in custody until their court hearing. It does provide an exception called “parole” for extraordinary circumstances to be applied on a case-by-case basis, not across the board as happens now. Congress was actually explicit in drafting these rules that parole should not be used to bypass immigration law, which is exactly what’s happening.

    • @bradenhazle4378
      @bradenhazle4378 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If they're seeking asylum...it's not illegal lol. That means they actually approached an official at the border to request it. That's not illegal.

    • @DoRC
      @DoRC หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      While this is technically true it doesn't tell the whole story. Yes the concept of parole has been stretched but it was done due to lack of alternatives. You can't keep people in custody if you lack the funding and manpower to do so. It is also Congress that provides that funding and manpower and unfortunately they did not make any changes that allowed for housing and maintaining all of the asylum seekers that have come in. Without those resources the only legal option was to parole people.

    • @wrobinnes
      @wrobinnes หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@DoRC It's a common refrain you hear from Democrats: "I know the situation seems ridiculous, but the law ties our hands!" Don't believe them.
      First, the Biden DHS has been actively trying to REDUCE the number of ICE detention facilities - not exactly what you'd expect someone with "a lack of alternatives" to be doing.
      As district court judge T. Kent Wetherell II wrote in his opinion finding that Biden's border releases violated federal law in Florida v. U.S.:
      "Thus, like a child who kills his parents and then seeks pity for being an orphan, it is hard to take [the administration’s] claim that they had to release more aliens into the country because of limited detention capacity seriously when they have elected not to use one of the tools provided by Congress in [section 235(b)(2)(C) of the INA] and they have continued to ask for less detention capacity."
      Second, there is another LEGAL alternative to parole: Remain In Mexico. U.S. immigration law *explicitly* allows for sending "asylum seekers" back across the border to await their hearings. Thus, it was the basis for Trump's Migration Protection Protocols (MPP) which his administration implemented in the Summer of 2019, and (of course) Biden immediately suspended upon taking office.

    What people don't get is the population implosion on a global scale that is happening. We will be BEGGING for immigration over the next 10 years. Capitalism is based on growth, if we shrink our entire basis for all government spending including our own entitlements crumbles. We should be working to increase our court system to hear out the applicants and make them tax paying citizens, not throwing them out. Far better than leaving them in limbo and collecting nothing. This gives them and their family a chance to really contribute to our society.

    Me, as a legal immigrant, is bound to my position with lower wages for visa support. I have bachelor in flight operation and has all the advanced pilot certificates. I've educated a lot of students for their own pilot certificate. I'm starting my masters in human factors in aviation next year. And I'm still not guaranteed to have any kind of long term work authorization. My visa permits to work for 6 years. It's a long time but limited time. Yet those people crossing who's not willing to follow rules are getting more favorable treatment of granted 'work permit' after 180days of crossing the border. How is this fair? I'm spending a big chunk of my paycheck and time researching for the legal and right way to get the citizenship but these border smugglers are making it harder for everyone who's trying to do the right thing and follow the rules.

    We have groups in our society and government that supports and encourages illegal immigration. There does not seem to be an immigration plan tied to job creation. If we want a million immigrants factories and other businesses need to be added so these million immigrants don’t take jobs away from people already here. The volume of immigration needs to be controlled so towns and cities don’t go bankrupt dealing with a large influx of new people. To many Americans immigration is not controlled nor managed. Hence a backlash.

    • @dermick
      @dermick หลายเดือนก่อน

      Most illegal immigration benefits someone - we should understand who, and make them pay the costs, not externalize these costs to the wider community. In the end much of these costs will be shouldered by the average consumer in slightly higher costs for products produced by these immigrants. TNSTAAFL.

    This is an interesting start to a conversation about immigration, but we should also discuss topics like how many Americans want to do the work, like farm work, that many migrants do. Most immigrants are very hard-working people, and initially, many are willing to work for less money than most Americans are willing to accept. We can blame those who hire them, but we also have to look at ourselves, those of us who benefit from paying less than we would have to pay a U.S. citizen. Most people want to stay in their home countries, so we have to discuss why people cannot earn a living wage in their home countries. Over the years, the U.S. has given many, many millions of dollars to a lot of countries. Where has all that money gone?

    • @chavitacanta008

      Short answer ; politicians pockets ! $ 30 thousand is upper middle class in Mexico ! You can live nicely on $2,000 a month ! Talking two bedroom,pool, a/c, near a beach or near center city ! Includes maid once or twice a week, pool service monthly,and internet / cable ! Mexico is picky ! You have show proof of income for temporary residency around 40 thousand a year ! We should try that here !

And I like Harris and Biden as people but one age caught up with and the other just not that dude as a campaigner or Nation’s chief. Even Biden excellent Senator and caretaker of the Nation but hardly a dynamic, brilliant leader. This guy is smart and articulate. Would have been a better choice if he could read the woke tea leaves and have concrete solutions for out of control housing and food costs.

    I lived in USA with a working Visa between 2007 and 2013. I returned recently to visit your great country. The cultural changes haven't been the best. The respect to traffic rules, order, street cleaning, homeless are some of the indicators I use in my assessment. I don't manage data, but the change is easy to perceive. In some areas of Austin TX is hard to communicate in English. I have nothing against immigrants. We have plenty here in Argentina as well. Most of them hard workers and contributors. However, when these individuals start changing the culture, and "the American way", perhaps is time to race the bar. A reference may be the wester countries in Europe (France, Italy, Germany, Spain...) where inmigrants have became a big problem.

      An H1B (or TN or L etc.) doesn't directly lead to citizenship in and of itself. These visas get you into the US and working here legally, but you have limited options wrt taking a different job and, in the case of an H1B, that can only be renewed twice and after that you may be out of luck.
      To get citizenship, you'd need to go through the green card process which requires labor certification (not always guaranteed to succeed, especially when unemployment is high) and can be subject to country-specific quotas. Or, some people obtain citizenship through other means (marriage to a US citizen, outstanding ability, etc.).
      I'm guessing that's what was meant in the video...

    • @benwu2123
      @benwu2123 หลายเดือนก่อน

      H1b does not have path to citizenship. If you ask any immigration attorney they will tell you the same thing as Ballmer just said here. What H1b does is just buy you time to apply for the green card while working in the US legally.
