Probably the best original modern sci-fi movie franchise in existence. The fact that Riddick’s character is not so cut and dry and is mysterious, is what makes it so awesome. Heard that originally the entire character arc was supposed to encompass 5 feature films. Not sure if this is still the plan but a 4th installment is welcome for sure!
The casting, world building and dialogue are spot on in this franchise. As well as the fact that each of the movies so far has had its own distinct pace and flavour, while still clearly being part of the same story.
This is my favorite series. I love Riddick and can't wait for Furya to come out. I can watch these movies over and over again. I first watched Vin in these movies and he made me fall in love with the character Riddick. It makes a big difference when an actor can bring life to a character on screen. Just like Johnny Depp being Jack Sparrow, Harrison Ford being Indiana Jones, Milla Jovovich being Alice in Resident Evil and Sigourney Weaver being Ripley in Alien. These people brought to life a character that shines.

I love that he is a dark hero. A beast mode slick talking, mind thinking outside the box. Unlike close minded heads sliced off with kick rocketed machete, head inside the box. ( True fans should get that statement) Odds are always against him, yet he pushes to survive. A lot of his attributes I see as real life short comings in real life. Many people don’t speak their mind out of fear. Standing up fore someone weaker than yourself because you know it’s right, how many times do u see that happen day to day. Push yourself to the limits even though your constantly kicked down. All of his codes of honor are portrayed in such a dark manner, yet he truly has a non flinching code of honor that won’t change for anyone or anything. Not alien, not monger, not mercenary, not political, not fear, not pain. Everyone in their own life no matter what path u take, do it with honor. If u truly do, you will be non stop tested to do the opposite. This is what I see when watching these movies.
Riddick is a under rated character in my opinion. He's one of the few antiheroes out there that is primal and animalistic. The only character I can think of that is close would be Snake Plissken.

He's always the most dangerous thing in the room is the best thing about him! I've been doing private security and security at night clubs and strip clubs in my entire life I retired after 30 years. I did not lose one! But one was definitely a draw! His skill wasn't anywhere near My level but it didn't matter the man was a freaking grizzly bear dressed as a man! I watch the guy take out 16 people by himself and the only reason I got him is I jumped on his back it put him in a headlock as hard as I could! Now is a 250-pound bodybuilder at that point. He was almost 400 lb! He agreed to quit is the only reason I walked away from that. I was just lucky he was a nice guy! One-on-one if he knew I was coming and I didn't jump on his back he could have torn me to pieces with his bare hands!!!! You know what I wish I brought my teacup!!! LOL I

It would be in a setting that is a cross between the Future scape towns of the Terminator and Mad Max. And would there be cars in it like there has to be plane/spaceships. Excited to hear this is coming. Loved all the prior ones. One thing, and though not necessary, I do hope they find a way to have a few of the strong characters that supported Riddick in the priors be in this new one. Not necessarily only these, but the ones that come to mind are the actor who played the main bounty hunter in the second film, The Chronicles of Riddick, who Riddick said had hired a skittish crew, Nick Chinlund, and the father of the dead bounty hunter from the first film, Pitch Black, who was the tough as nails but also noble character in the third film who came after Riddick to learn what had happened to his son and get revenge against Riddick, Mathew Nable. Also the necromancer second who wanted to be the next leader and chased after Riddick in The Chronicles of Riddick, Carl Urban. There are one or two others, but their characters all died so that might be tough. As for new actors, I don't know if he could get her, but I think Jessica Biel could play a tough as nails sexy costar in a sci fi action thriller very well, though there are a few others out there that could too I'm sure. Jessica has a real breadth of talent, is more than just a good looker, a lot more. Just an idea, but what a return for Jessica who I believe took time off to raise a family.
Honestly to me it’s insane how they made mouvie horror/sci-fi oriented with some comedy in it without losing sharpness of characters and story.Would rly love to see part 4.
Dad showed me the first two when I was in middle school. We saw the 3rd one in theaters when I was in high school. And now, as an adult, I look forward to sharing another amazing moment with my dad with the new movie. We love Riddick and rewatch the movies all the time. It never gets old!! Chronicles is one of the greatest SF 'verses ever created, easily matching Star Trek and Star Wars universes in my opinion: Necromongers, Underverse, Helion Prime, New Mecca, Elementals, Furya, Crematoria ... and all the great characters that go with them. Twohy is a genius. This should really be made into a TV show. Riddick is a great character of course but these races, locations, and other characters could easily exist on their own without him, in their own right. They are beautifully conceived and represented in Chronicles. That movie also serves as a commentary on religion and culture, good vs evil, freedom vs tyranny, and love. It's got it all.

Something to think about, he was last seen traveling through the "Threshold" to the Underverse, and it has been mentioned that everyone dead in the original universe will be alive again within Underverse. So, imagine if he encounters Jack/Kyra, Little Johnnes, and of course The Lord Marshall he killed in Chronicles, in the Underverse.

The name of this next sequel doesnt make any sense when weighed against what the 'Riddick'-ending suggested was about to happen, Ie 'Trascendence' for Riddick into the underverse since he'd made it clear he'd lost everything up to that movie.
Riddick was the 4th, pitch black, dark fury, and chronicles, and tho animated does count in the series therefore this is 5 and the under verse being a real place in which at least partial spirits are able to come back from, hence the Lord Marshall's mystic abilities therefore his only goal as soon as he took over the necros should have been to go to the underverse and get kira back a la Dante's inferno, this can still be done since to find furya he still has to return to the necros as no one else has any knowledge of the place anymore, he goes back, tells vakko he can have the thrown if he takes him to underverse, which vakko would want to do as it's part of becoming Lord marshall, they go, bringing her body with, go separate ways with him and kira finding their way to furya and living out their days there is the only end to this story that will satisfy me
Yes! everyone should read the novelization of the chronicles of riddick by alan dean foster. it has appendixes in the back of the book that tells you all kinds of information about the necromongers. the explanation about necros is very enlightening.
Man!!!! The whole idea behind this film has got me thinking about a cool idea for a shared Universe. I would LOVE to see story/script writers Jim Wheat & Ken Wheat (Creators of RIDDICK) in conjunction with story/script writers Shay Hatten and Kurt Johnstad (co-writers of Zack Snyder's upcoming REBEL MOON) form a Writer's Room for a CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK/REBEL MOON shared Universe!!! With Directors Zack Snyder and David Twohy (starting out, at least) holding down Directorial duties! Imagine it!!! We've got the set-up of RM being -- A peaceful planet under siege by intergalactic thugs sends out "Kora", a young Woman, on a desperate mission to seek out Warriors from nearby planets to help their planet make a stand against the thugs-- right? Well what if...later down the line....we learn that one of the planets that Kora reached out to was a Planet by the name of FURYA?!?! Alleged to be the home of a race of great warriors even. And she was specifically seeking the assistance of one legendary Furyan in particular. One RICHARD B. RIDDICK??😃😎 Whom unfortunately wasn't available to assist Kora and company at the time. However....the characters and two respective worlds would later cross paths again down the line....😎 The 2 fanchises could compliment each other PERFECTLY with world-building ideas and all manner of fun and exciting crossover/shared-ness.

Chronicles is one I’ve watched repeatedly. Can’t wait for the new one. Great series so far. Vin is fun. Probably prefer it stay PG.

Also the necromancer second who wanted to be the next leader and chased after Riddick in The Chronicles of Riddick, Carl Urban. There are one or two others, but their characters all died so that might be tough. As for new actors, I don't know if he could get her, but I think Jessica Biel could play a tough as nails sexy costar in a sci fi action thriller very well, though there are a few others out there that could too I'm sure. Jessica has a real breadth of talent, is more than just a good looker, a lot more. Just an idea, but what a return for Jessica who I believe took time off to raise a family.
Honestly to me it’s insane how they made mouvie horror/sci-fi oriented with some comedy in it without losing sharpness of characters and story.Would rly love to see part 4.

Dad showed me the first two when I was in middle school. We saw the 3rd one in theaters when I was in high school. And now, as an adult, I look forward to sharing another amazing moment with my dad with the new movie. We love Riddick and rewatch the movies all the time. It never gets old!! Hoping to finally get a story on his origin.

Chronicles is one of the greatest SF 'verses ever created, easily matching Star Trek and Star Wars universes in my opinion: Necromongers, Underverse, Helion Prime, New Mecca, Elementals, Furya, Crematoria ... and all the great characters that go with them. Twohy is a genius. This should really be made into a TV show. Riddick is a great character of course but these races, locations, and other characters could easily exist on their own without him, in their own right. They are beautifully conceived and represented in Chronicles. That movie also serves as a commentary on religion and culture, good vs evil, freedom vs tyranny, and love. It's got it all.

Something to think about, he was last seen traveling through the "Threshold" to the Underverse, and it has been mentioned that everyone dead in the original universe will be alive again within Underverse.
So, imagine if he encounters Jack/Kyra, Little Johnnes, and of course The Lord Marshall he killed in Chronicles, in the Underverse.

The name of this next sequel doesnt make any sense when weighed against what the 'Riddick'-ending suggested was about to happen, Ie 'Trascendence' for Riddick into the underverse since he'd made it clear he'd lost everything up to that movie.

Riddick was the 4th, pitch black, dark fury, and chronicles, and tho animated does count in the series therefore this is 5 and the under verse being a real place in which at least partial spirits are able to come back from, hence the Lord Marshall's mystic abilities therefore his only goal as soon as he took over the necros should have been to go to the underverse and get kira back a la Dante's inferno, this can still be done since to find furya he still has to return to the necros as no one else has any knowledge of the place anymore, he goes back, tells vakko he can have the thrown if he takes him to underverse, which vakko would want to do as it's part of becoming Lord marshall, they go, bringing her body with, go separate ways with him and kira finding their way to furya and living out their days there is the only end to this story that will satisfy me

everyone should read the novelization of the chronicles of riddick by alan dean foster. it has appendixes in the back of the book that tells you all kinds of information about the necromongers. the explanation about necros is very enlightening.
