When I was eleven I was all alone in the world and very suicidal and I used to write song lyrics and poems late at night when I was at my worst and looking back they aren't very different than this...I know all too well this state of mind and I'm so proud of Tyler for having not only the courage for sharing it with the world but also for overcoming it and being happy now

Theory: When the songs says "but come this September you will fly on your own, but it wont get much better" Tyler is around 17-18 so he is getting ready for college in the September and he got a really good basketball scholarship (read in an interview), which would be the letter he got. At college, Tyler must "find his home" or his purpose in basketball. However Tyler's passion isn't really in basketball, its in music, so "it won't get much better". Tyler doesn't want the scholarship to go to waste so he tries "so hard to fly, but my heart win't go very far" his heart won't go far because his heart isn't in basketball anymore. Tyler's hands will start bleeding because he isn't creating or fulfilling purpose. The whole rap is kind of straight forward, he makes plans that seem solid but will take him where he doesn't know. In the end, the floor will turn to a hole in the ground because he is mentally dying due to not creating/finding his true purpose. The end, its just a theory but that is my interpretation. Sorry if its confusing :)

I don't wanna be rude but I rather tell you then someone else that be more rude but the lyric is actually "as you watch him fall through a blatant trapdoor" I always thought it was bleeding trapdoor but it's not, I had to learn the hard way
I guess it's just "his metaphor". He writes songs to deal with emotions and the metaphor of falling through holes in the ground could be used when he feels helpless or when he's being let down by something or someone he really trusted. And so every time he writes a song and he feels this way he'll use this metaphor because he feels like it fits the situation the best. But it's only guessing but as a songwriter myself that seems like a logical explanation.
Oh man, absolutely love the vast majority of his lyrics. One of the few people I can really relate to. Listening to him as himself as well as TOP has actually brought me closer to God. When I learned that Tyler was religious I loved his music that much more. Thanks for this...I mean it.

I read it and I might not understand everything you went through but my senior in year in September I got told I was pregnant and I had to finish high school and go through all the pain and crap that came my way every single day from everyone even my so called friends and family but I held on and forced myself to keep me alive and told myself I was worth it so just find a way to motivate yourself and you can do anything and just always know you aren't alone and just always smile and believe in yourself:)

I don’t listen to Twenty One Pilots nearly as much as I used to, but I always find myself coming back to these old songs every once in a while. They kind of bring back bad memories, but I feel so comforted at the same time whenever I listen to them. This music, as depressing as it might be to a lot of people, will always be a part of me.

It’s interesting looking back. When I first found this song, I was in a much darker place than I am now. I’m still struggling of course but things have definitely gotten easier over the years, especially as I’ve gotten more used to dealing with these things. And these songs and the clique have been there with me all the way, getting me through those dark nights, reminding me that I’m not alone in what I’m going through. And neither are you frens. The last line makes me so sad. He's describing depression as a metaphorical hole in ground but that his depression will eventually lead to his suicide and that hole of emptiness becoming the literal hole of his grave. It just breaks my heart that Tyler ever felt that way.

When the songs says "but come this September you will fly on your own, but it wont get much better" Tyler is around 17-18 so he is getting ready for college in the September and he got a really good basketball scholarship (read in an interview), which would be the letter he got. At college, Tyler must "find his home" or his purpose in basketball. However Tyler's passion isn't really in basketball, its in music, so "it won't get much better". Tyler doesn't want the scholarship to go to waste so he tries "so hard to fly, but my heart win't go very far" his heart won't go far because his heart isn't in basketball anymore. Tyler's hands will start bleeding because he isn't creating or fulfilling purpose. The whole rap is kind of straight forward, he makes plans that seem solid but will take him where he doesn't know. In the end, the floor will turn to a hole in the ground because he is mentally dying due to not creating/finding his true purpose. The end, its just a theory but that is my interpretation. Sorry if its confusing :)

I guess it's just "his metaphor". He writes songs to deal with emotions and the metaphor of falling through holes in the ground could be used when he feels helpless or when he's being let down by something or someone he really trusted. And so every time he writes a song and he feels this way he'll use this metaphor because he feels like it fits the situation the best. But it's only guessing but as a songwriter myself that seems like a logical explanation.

When Tyler begins to talk about how he doesn't know who that someone is or who they know now, I feel like it's probably an old friend that he used to be close with and that now he somehow knows that they are going to leave in September, permanently or far away. And that when they leave, they'll luckily go to Heaven or someplace good and that for him, it won't get much better. He wishes he could fly there with them, to a good place, but he feels in his heart that he's done so much bad with his bleeding hands and choices he's done in his life, that he couldn't go very far, and that he just might as well lower himself into the hole in the ground, or fall into the sun, because he feels it's not even his choice anymore. And that as he lowers himself, he'll sing a song, still knowing he's done wrong. But he didn't even know that that someone was singing with him all along, that he wasn't alone. . . But don't worry Tyler, you've done so much good for people like me that appreciate your words. . .

I love Twenty One Pilots more than any other group, more than I ever did, and I relate to their song badly.
The one that made me discover them was the girl I love since a decade, now. She isn't in my life anymore, and she was named Julie.
Today, I'm feeling down and done, as it sometimes happens, some bad crises. Today, I wanted to go back in time, when we still shared our favorites parts of their songs, and I decided to just put them on over and over.
Back then, I listened to all of their songs on loop, 24/24h. I didn't know "Coconut Sharks In The Water" and she made me discover it when I told her "I think I know most of their songs, if not all, by heart". We bet on it and I lost.
Today, I feel down and done, and I put some random songs of them. Today, I discovered "Hole In The Ground", "Drown" and much more. And I discovered them on a channel named Julie.
I don't really know why I talk about it, but the Clique is family for me and I feel like I need to talk about it. So I wrote as soon as I felt I needed it, and I really did need it.
I miss her, and no one probably knows how much I hate the path my life has taken without her by my side, without her smile, the secret moments we shared musics and secrets.
