I really loved this interview. What struck me as how you both had some of the same experiences when talking with the trees. You asked Kristy about different people getting different answers from the trees and I believe that you also have to take into account that it is coming through the filter of the person who is communicating with the tree. With us having different experiences, we can see things thru different lenses. Kristy eluded to that when she talked about an uncle getting a different response with a question. Doesn’t mean one answer is right or wrong it is what the person needs to hear in that moment. Thanks so much for this informative discussion!
This has been an amazing discussion. It made me think that I don't have the same view on nurseries. The concept of native species is relative, as every species starts by being a "traveller" first. I agree that humans need to cultivate appreciation for nature, but as part of nature ourselves, we also play a role in assisting trees and other species to grow. I know it's not ideal nor perfect but It’s all part of evolution and growth.
@@nadiastejskal thank you for giving this a listen! I have a love/hate relationship with nurseries. I worked for several different companies over the years and I loved growing and tending to the plants but struggled with the chemical and plastic use. It’s not ideal or perfect. I think we can have better practices in general. As far as the non native vs native plants goes, I was considering the plants that are helpful for habitat and wildlife specifically versus plants that haven’t evolved alongside our wild ones. That’s just the lens I look through in general. Otherwise yes I agree we do play a role in helping other species grow and flourish! I lived that part of tending to the plants. I appreciate this discussion and always enjoy others points of view so thank you for sharing your thoughts!
Yayy so excited!!
