To learn more about this topic, start your googling with these keywords:
- Annular Eclipse: an eclipse of the sun in which the edge of the sun remains visible as a bright ring around the moon.
- Elliptical orbit: when an object moves around another object in an oval shaped path.
- Latitude: the angular distance of a place north or south of the earth's equator, or of a celestial object north or south of the celestial equator, usually expressed in degrees and minutes.
- Total Eclipse: an eclipse of the sun in which the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, completely blocking the face of the Sun.

This is incredibly cool!!
Thanks for always great content ❤
18:36 through 18:40 yeah no kidding literally a total solar eclipse is actually how people in medieval times discovered the element of helium, and added it to the periodic table of elements. 😅😅😅😅😅😅
19:58 through 20:00 technically you're not wrong, but the actual numbers shows that the Earth's rotation slows down by a full second every thousand years because of the moon's gravity (if we ignore the leap years that happen every 4 years that add one day which we can skip that if it's a new century, but we have to add it anyway if the year is divisible by 400), so every day (in 24 Earth hours) the moon's gravity slows down the Earth's rotation by 1/356,000 of a second, or by 3.56 nanoseconds per (24-hours in Earth Days.) 😅😅😅😅😅😅
Welcome to "half an hour"Earth

According to their "why do all youtube videos look the same" video, someone evolved claws for this 27 minute video to come out
For those in doubt, go see it! Go for the full eclipse zone and aim for the middle of it.
Ive seen one in Europe late 90s and it's one of the strongest memories i have today.
ah yes beautiful CLOUDS (i’m so upset)

Can confirm, just saw the one two days ago and it was incredible.

I traveled to Missouri for the 2017 eclipse as a preview for the 2024 eclipse. 2017 was great...2024 blew it away!

Hi Cameron! 😊
Partway through I realized this is just a compilation of previous MinuteEarth videos I’d already seen, but I watched all the way through again because it makes me so excited and happy hearing about everything we’ve been able to learn about and because of eclipses.
Too bad I couldn't see the eclipse. I was too busy invading the fire nation...
You are a true Avatar fan, for that I will sub to you
@@Philsardenola you just a kid
And you are a disappointment
Well summarised. I know your whole online thing has changed, but it's really difficult to synthesise lots of incoming information whilst still re-indexing your own path. Respect!

I haven’t watched this vid but I know it’s great because all your videos are great
It's weird that the northern hemisphere, which happens to have more people on it, is more likely to experience an eclipse than the southern hemisphere.
It experiences more TOTAL solar eclipses. They published a video about it last week. It’s not so weird when someone explains why it happens th-cam.com/video/1GrOLainIiA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=6uPCFPd3KGeSdGd5
I mean, assuming one side was gonna be the side with more eclipses and one side was gonna have more people, it’s pretty much just a 50/50 is it not?
@@tonydai782 well not exactly because the northern has more land but i guess it was also random which hemisphere would have more land so idk
Really great content! Thanks!
it's kinda wild that Einstein didn't get a nobel prize for his theory of relativity. He turned physics completely on its head but no he got a noble prize for his discovery of the law of the photoelectric effect
Are MinuteEarth, MinuteLabs, MinutePhysics and MinuteFood related to each other? And if so are there more channels of the Minute family?

I like how they put a hobbit for New Zealand, there were no people there at the time, so no person has ever witnessed an eclipse over Christchurch Newzealand. As far as we know.
0:25 wow if you look at the subtitles a whole sentence was skipped. Also all this time Cameron was handsome.

That’s so interesting, where in our world can we produce a shadow smaller than the object casting it?
Gostei do compilado de um assunto
Sooo since when did uranus get hybrids of annular and total eclipses? (perdita)
Bro I literally stumbled across a Christian video that said this next Eclipse is ganna mark the rapture lol. (Lettem be clear I am not raging on christianity, I just though it was funny)
There’s someone who says that for EVERY eclipse
My dental hygienist got off on this kind of tangent when I said I'm going to see the eclipse. For her it was nonsense about the eclipse going over "7 Ninevehs", referring to cities in the US named after the town Jonah was trying to avoid preaching to. If you're curious, the path of totality only passes over barely 2 of them, and despite Google's widget, there are a lot more than 7 in the partial eclipse path.
I am a Christian, but I've also read in Matthew where it says "But about that day or hour, no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father." so...yeah. Not buying anyone claiming to know the day.
@@MerennulliYeah, I've no problem with people who choose to follow a religion but I do take issue with people who try to take the faith those people have and lead them - sometimes those people seem to genuinely believe what they say...but claiming you're having personal chats with god(s) that tell you when the earth will end just raises a ton of red flags for me.
I watched the whole video and I literally forgot everything
Das estrelas visíveis a olho nú, alguma já morreram, mas com a distância, a luz demorar milênios luz de nós, então qual vai delas vai desaparecer primeiro do nosso céu?
I'm surprised that the Cameron person, or rather the Cameron person's hair doesn't match the Cameron avatar that I've been so used to watching in the videos. I wonder what made him change his hairstyle.
His artist got a new pen.
I wish I was in the us I live the uk which apparently won’t have a total eclipse until the 2090s which sucks
Can i film it with my phone and then watch it.?
When are you gonna post tornado stuff i want it cus im a tornado fan
Now I just need to save money for a trip to spain in 2026! Good luck me.

7:09 Twice a year, **eclipses** happen, not _total_ solar eclipses. Sometimes those eclipses are total but they maye also be partial, or annular, or hybrid.

I've just checked, the next one in my home town is in 2151
But like, total total. It'll be pretty close in 2026
