Quiet public transport in Japan is truly blissful! On my noisy subway line in Stockholm, people love using their phones on speaker, so I get to eavesdrop on everyone's drama whether I want to or not. It's like a live soap opera every morning!
After a 3 week tour of Japan earlier this year, I can honestly say it woke me up to how a society of considerate people can make life run so much smoother, though obviously a lot of the manners are forced by a social pressure rather than being an expression of the people who were acting politely. But still, travelling on public transport without the constant smell of urine is great for a European. I didn’t have time to tire of Tokyo even tho I’m a country dweller by nature, I think I need a solid 3 or 4 months to run out of novelties and attractions. But the atmosphere in Osaka was way better, and the nerd shops were excellent. Again, I need a few months there to see everything I missed. Honestly, if my wife wasn’t so negative about the place I would love to spend a year or 2 just touring and maybe camping in the mountains and round Izu, Gunma and out west between Nagasaki and Kagoshima. And hopefully get my Japanese speaking up to a decent standard…
The constant smell of urine is a universal European thing since drunk people would rather piss in the train car than pay the 3-5€ to use the toilet lol. I shit on Tokyo a lot, but that's mainly become so many people making Japan content is fawning over Tokyo to the point where it becomes annoying. It's a megacity and hard to run out of things to do, but I totally agree with you that Osaka has the better vibe (and friendlier people ready to talk with you over beers)
I laughed heartily several times while watching this one, great content as always! I look forward to witnessing the beautiful country of Japan myself some day. Best wishes to you! 😊
I'm living in Japan for 7 months so far, and my "friends" are already hitting my DM with "Im planing to go to Japan in (random month), can you guide us across japan?" They have no sense of how far things are from here, "can you take us in Narita Airport?" I LIVE IN KYOTO!!!!!! + My japanese language skill is not good enough to take care of myself alone, imagine help other people... It's just... insane. (talking about japanese language skill, a video about it would be nice, studying for JLPT in a couple of months I notice isn't for speaking, only to get your kind of 'medal' saying "I can read and understand but I can't speak", I would like to know about it before, but anyway)
Haha welcome to Japan and friends dming you about wild shit only when they travel here lol. Good suggestion, it's been noted! I went the alternative route for learning Japanese as I did with English: just consuming media and doing online gaming in Japanese. This left me with an unfortunate shitty Kanji ability lmao
3:58 I used to love those 1/4lb hot dogs and nacho until I went back home and bought me a hot dog. It looked like crap. It was not like I remembered it. Threw it out. 5:08 Dude. This scene looks so much like where I live in Saitama. A few nights ago(2am), I woke up to a loud sound. Found out that morning there was an explosion at an apartment complex unit. Crap blown out of the window & down the street. Fortunately, there was no casualties. Though, I wonder what the heck were they doing at 2am in the morning that caused the explosion.
I used to take a coach bus to my classes in a bigger city back and forth, usually taking a late night one back (getting home around 2AM). One time (around 1AM) two different people had their music blaring and had the same song on but about 20 seconds apart. It was almost impressive that they synchronized, aside from the fact that a lot of people were trying to sleep.
@@JustAnotherJapanChannel Could you make a video focussed on beer in Osaka? Preferably before Friday. I realised after booking the flights that I'll be 2wks too late for 1 beer festival and 1 week too early for another. But a bar where I could hang would be nice.
Yeah, living in Japan makes one spoiled when it comes to some things, take trains for example. Here in Sweden, it is more reliable to try to guess when a damn seagull will try to avoid shitting on your window. 🤣
To be honest in 5 years I became cold hearted and a little nasty. Just like Japanese around me behaved. I am white my husband is Japanese. Sorry, but in this fifth year I noticed that I became incredibly anxious and yes, I become a bit of the racist! I guess the society and personal experiences changed me!

Night trains out of the city in scandinavia is truly a marvel 😂

Kumano Kodo.
"Broccoli haircut" 😂😂😂 jeez they're all the same, we have them here in Italy as well
😂😂
Utrolig gøy, kjenner meg veldig igjen i sammenligningene fra et norsk perspektiv! Var leit å komme fra Japan tilbake til utallige «Sushi & Wok»

Awesome! Thanks for watching ✌️
1:36 A reason that you become quiet is you got ages ? Quiet trains are good place to sleep though.
The amount of semi drunk 40+ people shouting, vomiting and fighting on trains in Norway suggests that it's something Japan planted in me lol

Finally moving to Tokyo in 8 weeks 😅
And idk I aged in reverse when I first moved to Korea
Due to all the exercise from walking everywhere 😅
Awesome!
I can't stand people talking in public as it is, so I'm comforted that other people feel the same way about the broccoli heads

That sounds like hellish torture! It's the worst!
Moving to any country will improve you bcs you'll notice the differences; pick up the positives and continuously be annoyed by the bad ones.
I think you'll appreciate the differences for sure

I went to NYC by train a couple of times after coming back from Japan and found it to be about the same noise level.
Never been to NYC so I can't compare
Idk man, at least in japan there's no highschool teens climbing on top of a running train and getting killed constantly (i live in ny)
@@typemode9062 Yikes. 😨
