You made me feel so much better about myself! All other You Tubers always brag about how much they sold and made! It makes me wonder what I am doing wrong! Thank you for keeping it real!!!!!!
We all have our mistake purchases. I once bought a wool coat and thought I checked it over well.....got home and noticed the waist had been cut with scissors. Grrrrr How did I miss that
I get so mad at myself when I get things home and then find all the flaws. I've learned, but sometimes you just don't see everything until you go to photograph it.
Thank you for being real. I see so many other content creators posing as resellers, that have a dead pile that would never be honest about their mistakes. Kudos. Thank you for your integrity with pulling the SJ clothing. It does say and mean a lot.
I appreciate the kind words! This channel has been my attempt to teach myself something new (technology) while still embracing my hobby and balancing it with my day job and my family. Thanks so much for watching!
Great video you made me laugh with you as I remember the silly purchases throughout my life as a reseller ,antique dealer, junker. Live and learn buddy. Take care
My son perked up and thought you were talking about his dad when you mentioned the Ryan Newman hat. 😂 Helpful video too! We have all been there. Bad buys happen.
Don't beat yourself up, the bunny and the cow cups were cute. Plush is a difficult category for me because people always want offers when it's already borderline no profit.
I appreciate the kind words. My comfort is in, knowing that I didn’t spend much for a lot of of those plush items, so they were low risk. Thanks so much for watching!
I know your video was serious and informative but it cracked me up! My favorite "it turns out no one else thinks they're cool" and "no one wants it's, no one cares" and P Diddy "good riddance" 😂
@maribellcarpenter3052 i hope Diddy saved his money as it looks like he's going to need what he has to last the rest of his life, even if he's found not guilty. Same for the rest.
thanks for the info. Same here for plush. Plan to sell some stuff as lots, What I don't sell after Dec, gets donated. There's a Baptist Childrens Home that helps people so a lot of my clothes are going to them. Salvation army takes plush, not too many other thrift stores do. My inventory has taken over my house, so I am no longer thrifting since I have so much stuff to sell and sort through. Thank you again.
I think it’s great that we are giving to those less fortunate with the stuff that we are learning from. Remember that if you itemize on your tax deductions, you can declare up to $500 of items valued without having to declare cost basis. Thanks for watching!
I do this also....😀 I get a bunch of stuff and make a YT video I won't buy that again. Yes, resellers - like retailers -- take on brands and items that don't sell. Just make sure you don't spend BIG BUCKS for the items. I recently bought college logo hats and nope, they didn't sell either. Bebe is a nostalgia item and has low resell value. I hardly ever ever buy clothing for more than $2. It would have to be a luxury item. YOU can sell IMPERFECT items. I've sold shirts that didn't have buttons and sued on replacement buttons and stated so in the description. Of course, I had to sell them for a low price, but it would sell. I've sold clothing with holes in them.....LIST THEM AS IMPERFECT and show the pictures. I never source cups and mugs anymore. Never ever. NEVER EVER do I buy Holiday stuff. If it doesn't sell the first year you have to wait until the next year. NO HOLIDAY stuff for me.
Holiday stuff actually sell all year. I NEVER pass up high end brands like Christopher Radko, Kurt Adler, certain Hallmark items, Wedgewood and Waterford. Also, Christmas started selling for me in July.
I'm starting to notice this. Since I've made my transition from weekly auctions to more fixed price listings, I'm feeling more patient to not dump/donate some items too quickly. Thanks so much for watching!
I think it’s good to go with low risk, high reward items until you have more knowledge about a niche. I have done very well with neck ties, provided I buy them for one dollar or less each. There are many I haven’t sold yet, but at least I can bundle them and make pure money after the profits I made on just a few.
Great idea! Only issue is I’m not doing a lot with shoes right now, because they take up a lot of space and I don’t have a lot of space in my man cave. Thanks so much for watching!
I have been doing resale since the 80’s and actually own a thrift store now for the past 13 years. These people trying to buy at thrift store and resell are at best providing themselves video content and at worst wasting lots of time and money. Back in 1998-2000 you could make money doing this but that all ended when the thrift stores discovered eBay. We used to buy items for $1 that would sell for $100+ on a regular basis, sometimes we would find larger and more expensive items at garage sales that required an intense amount of work to package and expensive shipping but would buy them if we could net a few hundred dollars, a couple that come to mind are a Brent potters wheel and a large refactor telescope. Running around looking for the same thing as everyone else is not a plan for success but just following a fad. Be original find an unusual niche to fill and source your items elsewhere.
This is sage advice. I do this as a hobby, to make side cash. I think it would be very difficult to do this for a living. But like all markets, things go up and things go down. You will see a surge in people thrifting now maybe, but this will probably be less of a fad eventually and will be less competitive for those who are still into it like we are.
Dear Dave, I'm reselling on eBay too, and one thing that I learned from others is that eBay is very brand heavy. Yes, there are some exceptions, but overwhelmingly it's about the brand. And also, the more you list in one category, the more traffic eBay will send you for that category. So try to niche down
Absolutely not! Donated those years ago. What we need is a new star to reclaim the concept of ugly sweaters so the tradition can carry on. Maybe Jim Gaffigan?
What a great idea. I wish more people would do videos on the lemons.
Thanks, I think it's important to teach people what not to buy. Thank you so much for watching!
You made me feel so much better about myself! All other You Tubers always brag about how much they sold and made! It makes me wonder what I am doing wrong! Thank you for keeping it real!!!!!!
Aww, thanks! I love making connections like this! Thanks so much for watching!!!
Everyone reselling makes mistakes. All resellers should do one of these videos ❤
Thank you! One tiny silver lining is donating it back
We all have our mistake purchases. I once bought a wool coat and thought I checked it over well.....got home and noticed the waist had been cut with scissors. Grrrrr How did I miss that
Haha, you understand! The hope is we all learn from these mistakes on lower-value items, and we eventually more than make up for them.
I get so mad at myself when I get things home and then find all the flaws. I've learned, but sometimes you just don't see everything until you go to photograph it.
It’s so true! That’s why purchase price is so important. Thanks so much for watching!
Great video idea! I'm sure every reseller has their own pile of "do not buy".
We are all learning. Thanks so much for the kind words and for watching.
This is one of my favourite thrifting videos ever!
Thank you so much for watching!
Yes, because he tells the truth.

You get my point of making this one! Thank you so much for watching
My son perked up and thought you were talking about his dad when you mentioned the Ryan Newman hat. 😂
Helpful video too! We have all been there. Bad buys happen.
That is hilarious! I did not know your husband‘s name I swear!

Plushes IMO don't bring in a lot of money, so you have to buy them for less than $1.
IMO, I Will NOT SLEEP on plush Dolls or Barbie style dolls. People throw away valuable “COLLECTIBLES” everyday! They have no idea!🤣 FUN,FUN,FUN!
Risk loss in learning as a reseller, is a given😢
Yes, but I tried to risk only a little at a time when there’s something I don’t know a lot about. Thanks for watching!
@ reselling is much harder than it used to be
I know your video was serious and informative but it cracked me up! My favorite "it turns out no one else thinks they're cool" and "no one wants it's, no one cares" and P Diddy "good riddance" 😂
I appreciate the kind words. The video is meant to be a bit tongue in cheek. Informative is good, but a little funny and informative is better!
@maribellcarpenter3052 i hope Diddy saved his money as it looks like he's going to need what he has to last the rest of his life, even if he's found not guilty. Same for the rest.

Hi there. New subscriber here. Really enjoyed this dose of reality
Thanks so much for watching, and welcome to the channel!
I appreciate the tips. I have learned the hard way on what to stay away from too.
Thanks for watching!

One thing i have learned is you can buy a premium brand piece of clothing for cheap that is damaged, and sell it as 'distressed.' :-)
You should have a garage sale and get a few bucks back fast
Good on you for dumping the puff daddy stuff!
Thank you. No room for evil.
In the same category-ish. No Greg Norman golf clothing!
You can guarantee those who have spent big money on thousands of items in their stores will be donating or tossing a lot of it.
I think it’s good to go with low risk, high reward items until you have more knowledge about a niche. I have done very well with neck ties, provided I buy them for one dollar or less each. Can't you use those wooden shoe things for when you take pictures of your shoes? Cheers Graham

Playing to their algorithms, this is very helpful, thanks so much and thanks for watching!
Now that millions of sellers are on whatnot that has all plush starting at $1.00, it's a waste of time unless it is very rare. Defiantly comp.
Yeah, that's definitely put downward pricing pressure on plush. Thanks so much for watching!
Great advice I agree with all.
Thanks so much for watching!
I'm sitting on my plush, too....😢
Thanks for sharing. Still have the cosby sweaters?
Absolutely not! Donated those years ago. What we need is a new star to reclaim the concept of ugly sweaters so the tradition can carry on. Maybe Jim Gaffigan?
Making lemonaide out of lemons (this video)
I like analytical videos with a lot of talking -- so I will check out your other videos.
I appreciate that! I can’t help but pick things apart, it’s my nature. Thanks for watching.
Do people really buy from ‘resellers’?
Sure do! Merchandise is merchandise. Part of the joy of reselling is connecting something that someone discarded with someone who treasures it.
