What's the shame? In 109 categories, they lifted less than 89. The starting weight is 120 in the snatch and 140 in the clean and jerk. This should not be the case at the global level...
109 is not an Olympic category anymore. Considering this is one of the very last Olympic qualifying events, it makes sense that the 109’s aren’t very stacked.
Top 2 finishers in 89 class(Nassar & Lopez would have won this class. I don’t know how Martirosian keeps that bar steady overhead, can’t be more than a cm. Above his head when locked out. Both he and Polish Kasabijew are 35+ masters. Pretty good showing OGs.
20 years is about right. He represented Georgia Athens Olympics 2004 when he was just a teenager. He won a couple Junior Worlds and one European never a Worlds title though.
I love weightlifting, but the music playing in the background ruins it all. If I want to watch your streamings, there must be no music, you must be able to hear what is happening at the convention
They moved to -102, because -109 is not an Olympic category, but they did not compete yet, they are probably still getting used to their new bodyweight

Someone clue me in. Is Meso the only guy lifting weights in Qatar? Seriously. Why is he the only Qatari competing? You have some less accomplished lifters coming from some of the smaller Middle Eastern, African, and South Pacific nations so why not native lifters. Does the hometown federation only allow you to compete if you have a good chance of winning? Back in 1999 these people purchased the contracts of a handful of Bulgarian lifters the “ B” team. They were given Arabic names and some competed for maybe 5/6 years, a couple guy’s winning world titles. I would think having a big event like this every year and a great role model in Meso would provide great incentive for people. Somebody enlighten me.
From what I understand, Meso is about as Qatari as those Bulgarian athletes you mentioned. He was originally born in Egypt and trained in their system until around 2013. There were some disputes with Egypt's federation and his father, so they left the team and went to Qatar. While other gulf states like Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Oman appear to be focused on building their own teams, this seems to be out of the picture for Qatar. This seems to be common across the board for their athletic programs. For example, naturalised players have been a controversy in their football team for years. Only a guess, but it seems like the situation with their federation is just an extension of Qatar's overall reliance on foreign-born peoples. After all, Qatari citizens only make up something like 10-15% of the whole population. (No shade to Meso or his family here, he seems to be living his best life there)
Thanks reptile. I wasn’t aware when his family moved to Qatar. I was aware of all the imported labor. Witness the construction for the World Cup. Seems an odd way of doing things. If Meso has a better life for it more power to him.
Super annoying broadcasting with that terrible music and poor commentator. No replays from other angles either. Please give the rights to Weightlifting House!!!!!
Berekella, Azerbayjan, Kyrgyz doganlar! Congratulations Azerbayjan, Kyrgyz brothers! Wonderful!

To be fair. 89 category almost beat most in the 102 also. It's just a stacked category.
Lot of 109 is moving away from the category as it isn't Olympic category anymore.

Why is no commentary
How long has Arsen Kasibijew been around. He's gotta be competing for like 20 years
