after looking at your video on how to paint clouds i am now more convinced that tis is the way i am going to paint my clouds on my railway backdrop. thank you for a great way of painting clouds.
Great technique Rob, love the simplicity and effectiveness of your method. Creates depth, movement, with those upward streaks, similar to what our eyes observe on a clear day with upward winds. Thanks 🙏 for sharing
Excellent technique for making very affective clouds on maximum amounts of backdrop! I will definitely be trying this. Thank you for the great tutorial!!
Rob ! After many of failed attempts and many anxiety attacks I decided to give your technique a try. WOW ! Simple and absolutely believable ! Like you said in the vid....no need to try to simulate the bottoms because your eyes trick the brain into thinking it's already there. Incredible. BELIEVABLE, SIMPLE and best of all CHEAP ! Thank you.
Just a quick comment on your presentation, and my use of your techniques. Although I had to use a 3 step process vs. your 2 step on my Sheetrock wall, I am thoroughly satisfied. Although I did do some 40+ years ago on canvas, this was my first foray into painting of any model RR backdrops. Thank you so much for your presentation. I plan to carry it further with background trees as well as some country/hill scenery, as I progress.
Great work. I have been experimenting with different methods. Your technique looks to be the best I have seen. Simple and very effective. I like your explanation of trying to achieve the impression of distance. Very good commentary throughout the video. The camera operator did a good job too! Thanks for sharing your skills.
Very nice, I see what I'll do for my backdrop now. I do have one question, how do you manage to hide the seamas between the sheets of Masonite? and how do you attach the Masonite?
I think so. I kept the mainline elevated on top of the sheet cork with Midwest cork. But when I got into where all the switches are, I got everything to the same level so there was no drastic change in elevation between switches.
Of all the painting clouds videos out there, yours is absolutely the best technique. Simple and fantastic results.
Excellent technic can't wait to try. Thanks Rob evermore junction
Fantastic! You are an artist. I shall be trying to do this in the near future. Thank you.

Great how to the clouds are very realistic. Going to try this on my switching layout.
So simple, yet so effective! Inspiring me to do it as well!
This looks awesome. I wonder Will this work with O Scale.
Looks like an excellent technique- i use the same board as base, similar (nor quite as good) technique, but I don’t bother with primer coats
Most realistic clouds I’ve seen on a train background. Thank you for the tips. Great job. Cheers, Antonio/Spain
Amazing!

Very nice, I see what I'll do for my backdrop now. I do have one question, how do you manage to hide the seamas between the sheets of Masonite? and how do you attach the Masonite?
Thanks for the technique. I have been looking for an easier way to put clouds on my backdrop.
I see what you mean about the eye playing tricks , seen you use the one color but as they fade away or the back side of a cloud is darker, very nice
Thanks
Can you tell me the brand of paint for the backdrop and the name or number. Outstanding technique. Thank you.
Nice tutorial
Amazing! How long, or how many tries to get it right? Simply Amazing!
Never mind!
wouldn't a textured sponge be easier to use?
Great vid mate are you able to do a vid on all your locos please
At some point
Nice technique Rob. Have you modified your method at all over the last 6 years?
question for freight yards is it better to use sheet cork rather them strips of cork
I think so. I kept the mainline elevated on top of the sheet cork with Midwest cork. But when I got into where all the switches are, I got everything to the same level so there was no drastic change in elevation between switches.
Nice video thank you for sharing. Jac
