    Taichi in New Japan. Got caught in a pretty big scandal cheating on his wife and loses his push, gets suspended for two months and takes a pay cut. Works his way back up into one of the best heels in the company.
    Katsuyori Shibata almost suffered the same fate because he cheated on his wife but he was so factored into the plans with Okada that year so they let it slide.
    Taka Michinoku got caught cheating on his wife and well, we haven’t seen him since with Suzuki-Gun.
    Cheating on a significant other is considered very taboo in Japan. Entertainers are expected to live a very clean lifestyle. It can end careers if caught.

      Japan is super weird about cheating. Men will talk openly to each other about going to a brothel, or about how they have two girlfriends, but cheating is still considered very taboo, despite how common it is.
      Some idol in japan slept with a married dude and they expected her to issue an apology, and she pretty much said "every is doing it, why act like they aren't just because the public doesn't know about it?" Which shocked the public, but she has a point.

The ice here is worse than other places because it never gets cold enough for the ice to truly solidify. It is basically sheets of ice on top of each other and it can be impossible to drive with winter conditions. It's much easier to drive on snow/ice in places like PA than GA. I always thought it was a funny overreaction, but it really is worse here than any other area I've personally ever experienced.

      I live in the Pacific Northwest and we get a few snowfalls a year. The danger isn't the snow as much as the other drivers. The snow is infrequent enough that people don't learn how to drive safely in the snow so you can know exactly what you're doing and still have some other idiot slide into you. My dad was once at a stop sign and some idiot slowly slid across the intersection and banged into him.

    These stories of guys who just decided to go home made me remember a really unusual one. Jack Brisco.
    Jack and his brother Jerry, both highly celebrated NWA mainstays (with Jack even being "the guy" in the early 70s), knowingly killed the Georgia territory by selling to WWF. Then they came in and actually wrestled as a team for Vince, picked up a non-title win over Adonis and Murdoch, and one day Jack just decided to quit the business and retire without warning to go work at his auto body shop.
    Seriously, wtf???

    • @philipclarke9696
      @philipclarke9696 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @ Dave Barton Jack hadn’t done that type of travel in almost ten years ( his NWA title run) and he was in his mid forties and that was the reason. He had already made his money. Jack got a check from them until his dying day ( most people don’t know that) and Jerry, until recently, had a job for life for their roles in selling Vince their shares in Georgia Championship Wrestling.

      Or and hear me out, he started a wrestling company in the middle of a wrestling depression and didn’t have a huge amount of financial backing. I think it would have been interesting if he’d have kept it going until 1998 how it would have gone. I suggest it would have closed down around the time wcw and ECW probably have similar niche market and historical love that ecw does.
