  • Here's my unsponsored review of the Subject rifle.
    It has the best stock I've ever seen in a springer and although it hasn't got match-grade accuracy, it is plenty accurate enough to drill those back yard pests out to 25 yards.

    Just bought one of these NIB today from a local online auction. Paid $155 for it. Can’t wait to pick it up tomorrow and try it out.

    I bought the rifle today and the trigger screw is to short so I replaced it with a longer one and it does work really good my second stage is really crisp, I zero my scope at 35 yards with a laser bore sighter and the rifle was bang on target, the scope is not the top quality but not to bad either, it does shoot better out of the box than my Norica Black eagle which is not a gas ram but a springer rated 900fps.
    Thanks for your review by the way, I liked it.

      I have the problem, when i zero it at 15yards then 8 of 10 shots hit the target accurate but 2 of the 10 are far away from the grouping. The trigger is very haevy to pull and if you move the scope on top with a soft pull to the right or to the left, the whole top construction with the rail/splint of the rifle goes left and right as well. Thats not good.

      Thanks Shawn. I've got a couple more Stoeger reviews in the works: an S4000 and a PCP I can't remember the Model # at the moment...

      I purchased a Stoeger S8000-TAC. I believe it's the same rifle with the older style ATAC style stock. Couldn't get a decent group out of it to save my life. Ended up doing a trigger mod, removed butt peace and filled with lead and installed a Benjamin Classic .22 barrel. Shoots great now still would like the proper aftermarket trigger but I contacted them and they can't ship to Canada. Nice gun now but quite a disappointment out of the box. I payed 400 plus tax. Not a great deal but I do like the feel of it in my hands.

    I'm just wondering about the weight on this thing. Looks to be quite similar to a Umarex Targis Hunter, which is heavy as balls and so is the trigger.
    Of all the air rifles I have shot, I would say that my favorite composite stock is actually on the el-cheapo Crosman Fire...its a no frills lightweight stock that is just a work of art as far as comfort and usability.
    Glad you were honest about the trigger though. I also agree that the trigger can make orr break the experience with the rifle. It seems like all break barrel rifles stock triggers suck, with the one exception being my Ruger Air Hawk...that trigger is awesome. Even better than the ones I upgraded.
    Still thinking about picking this one up, I'll make sure I do it at a place that can be returned because always a little nervous about the "over-engineered" airguns.

    Thanks for the work, check for all points noted, wondering if my rabbit harvesting tool was a bad choice now, can nail a can at 30m consistently. Will see how it goes

      You got a GOOD one! Maybe they ship the good ones to your country instead of mine, hehehe. I've had no luck getting decent accuracy out of affordable springers. Only my TX200 will do what I really want.

    Have you looked into a PCP airgun? Couple hundred dollars and uramex or ? And that's a great start.. get a big tank instead of a hand pump because it's a workout..but totally worth it..I would say probably just as or maybe more powerful than a 22lr rifle and super accurate! Ridiculous accurate 👍

    • @Smaug1
      @Smaug1  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yep, I have PCPs too. (see my other reviews) My favorite so far is the Brocock Compatto.
      I have had a carbon fiber tank, but still prefer to hand pump, for the workout.

    • @Smaug1
      @Smaug1  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I didn't weigh it, but it is not heavy, like those super-magnum springers. Not obviously front-heavy, either. It's a good balance.

    I wonder why this gun needs a suppressor? I think because suppressor are made of injected or formed plastic it's not very precisely made and affect accuracy. Especially on lighter projectiles. They should better make the barrel a couple inches longer. In my opinion.

    • @Smaug1
      @Smaug1  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Since it's a gas ram gun, a longer barrel doesn't give more velocity; it can actually give LESS. There is not some burst of air giving velocity as the pellet is still in the barrel; it is just one impulse of air.
      The suppressor is to tame the muzzle blast to make it a bit quieter.

    • @camike4968
      @camike4968 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Smaug1 Thank you for the comment, but I can't agree with it. The air actually compressed in the cylinder because of the speed of the piston, small exit hole, and obstacle in the barrel. Expanding, compressed air pushes the pellet all the way through the barrel. Very similar to a firearm. Gases from the burning powder expand and create pressure that pushes the projectile through the barrel. Of course, if the barrel is too long, pressure drops, and the projectile starts to slow down in the barrel. But not in this case. As you mentioned in your second part of the comment, the air comes out from the muzzle as a burst, which is only possible if it's still under pressure. The shorter barrel the louder the burst. If you look at any other air gun, you most likely shot some of them, even less powerful than this one, all of them have air burst at the muzzle. And all barrels are much longer than 12", which this one actually has. In my opinion, if this gun would have a longer barrel, it would be more accurate and more powerful. and not that much louder. The shorter barrel the louder the burst.
