    One thing that helped me with a dripping flex nib is holding the pen nib down and let it drip. After 2-3 drops, the pressure seemed to stabilise and it started flowing consistently

    Thank you for this video. I have looked at a lot recently and you are the easiest to understand. You speak clearly and not too fast. I have only very recently started using flex nibs after over 40 years of using stub nibs to write Italic hand. this is quite a different tool to use and I have had various difficulties. I bought an Osprey Scholar pen with Zebra G nib which was well recommended, but I have doubts. Having tried a number from Pilot 742 with FA nib to Chinese, my favourite is Jinhao X750 with Zebra G nib.

      I'm glad I could help. Keep in mind that the feed is a big factor in flex pens. It does not matter how much the nib can flex if the feed can't keep up.

    Got all fancy with Japanese pens now huh?! :) Still some of the best flex nibs out there, even compared to the "name brands". I'm still using my FPR pens and I just bought one of your fancy kardashian high falootin' pens. Looking forward to seeing how things have changed since the last time I was inking up.

    Unfortunately I bought a few FPR pens a while back. Touched them once and was so put off with how much maintenance they required for me to fine tune it to where it stopped leaking so much that I gave up. Got three pens, all of them leak like crazy. Did some research and unfortantet especially with the himalaya flex a lot of people have that issue too. I didn’t pick them back up just so I don’t ruin any of my clothing or desk item. Hopefully in the future the pens can arrive ready to use.

      Hi Calvin, Our flex pens are very wet by design but sounds like you might be experiencing more leaking than normal. Please reach out directly so we can help troubleshoot.

    What do I do if the tines are fine when out of the pen but open when installed with the feed?

    • @kevinthiemann3784
      @kevinthiemann3784 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This either means a better heat set is needed or that you have the nib installed in a pen it is not designed to fit.

    Hi mate. Greetings from Sydney. I got a pen from you with ebonite #6 feed. It came assembled already. After filling the pen it writes nice no more than 10 lines. Nice and wet flow as expected. After 5-10 lines there is a sudden spit of one or two big drops of ink. So annoying. I removed nib and feed. Tried ultraflex nib with the same feed and unit - the problem. It happens when tank is full, and when tank is half full with air pushed out completely and when tank is half full with air in tank. What to do, the pen is not cheap and Ultraflex EF nib writes nice, i love it. But those drop bombs are no no no

    Dear FPR , thank you for this advice. I use fountain pens mostly in a life class. Each sketch takes from 3 to 7 minutes for about two hours. I discovered that the only fountain pen that worked without any problems of flow was Pilot parallel. Yesterday both my Ahabs stopped , and I had to resort to Pilot parallels. Did you come across Ackerman pens?
    Thank you,Dmitry

    Kevin, having fun with my new Jaipur V2 w/Ultra Flex. It's definitely on the "wet side," unless I completely avoid flexing the tines. I'm using Noodler's Inks, exclusively, and I was wondering if you might recommend a slightly drier brand of inks? Thank you!

    Keep the cam at your face level or even better a bit low ensuring it covers from ur desk and up..... The current vid appears novice in that way .....
