Late or not, glad you're enjoying it as well. Xenoblade 3 is getting plenty of publicity, and it deserves it, but I really hope people don't forget about this one. Squareenix has an incredible back catalog of games that never came out here and I'd love to have more. If this game and Trials of Mana are anything to go on, when done right it's totally worth your time.

Fun fact this game as w whole was directed by Takashi Tokita who would move to directing chrono trigger after this game and Parasite eve 1 after that. Hed also be responisble for the final fantasy 4 3d remake on the nintendo DS

I work about 60 hours a week and am a full time student. I don’t have or devote much time to games currently but on your recommendation I bought this game. It’s perfect for my busy schedule and I’ll probably complete it in about a month. Overpriced for the length of game but it’s brilliantly made and it’s short play time is extremely enjoyable and it gives me a sense of accomplishment
Do you have a Shining Force 3 video? 2 is one of my all time faves and am quite intrigued by Shining Force CD for the Genesis Mini 2, but have no good way of playing 3.

You made me want to get this game it looks so good and from what you’ve told me it looks fantastic thank you for this video I’m tight on money but when I’m able to I will get it
My only complaint about this game is the auto save feature isn’t used enough and when you manually save sometimes it can really mess up a chapter. I was playing shifu and when I got to the final boss my character wasn’t strong enough. I went to leave but the door was locked so I have to play again and make sure I level up more.

You can save any time too. So if you only have 30 mins, you can jump in and play and put it back down to come back later. Really “busy life “ friendly. I’m absolutely loving it.
I agree this game is great. However, I also started with the Prehistoric chapter, and it really didn't click for me until towards the end. I feel like it's probably not the best place to start (unless people want to get the least strong story out of the way), but in the end I was glad to have played it and I did enjoy the last bit. The game definitely got better from there. Good stuff, to be sure.

Appreciate your perspective on the game. I initially decided I wasn’t going to care about this game because it looked like octopath, which for me started out great but I got really bored with it after about 8 hours. Sounds like it might be a bit different though. How do you compare it to octopath?
The real question is “should i keep my physical copy sealed?” I remember the Aussie gentleman saying it was going to be a very rare game during the spawncast.
Just play the game and have fun like a normal person.
I always open my switch games unless I own the digitally also which isn't many. They don't seem to lose a ton of value opened being cartridges vs discs.
One thing I didn’t like about the game is the load screens every time I leave an area in a chapter, in particular I’m doing the Prehistoric chapter and every time I leave a room there is a load screen, so annoying

many played the snes version of the game through emulation and a fan translation that came out in 2008..
I cannot say much, because I havnt purchased the game, but the price point really stops me. (And Xenoblade) I have a rough time spending 50.00 dollars on a super famicon remake. I am sure the game is good and probably even worth the price. Someday I will check it out.

When you said you like Action RPGs over turn based RPGs, that kind of pissed me off. Some of the greatest RPGs are turn based. Action RPGs are usually made for idiots with short attention spans.

I've been enjoying a lot of the recent HD-2D RPGs like this, Octopath Traveler and Triangle Strategy.

@@mr_m4613 I enjoyed Pokémon legends arceus quite a bit, along with Kirby and triangle strategy. After those games I mostly just played my backlog as nothing really appealed to me in between. I love fire emblem but hate warriors games. Mario strikers I cancelled at the last minute. I’m thankful for that.
@@dylangirard4670 you know generally I hate warriors games, but I have liked 2, person 5 strikers, and fire emblem 3 hopes, the game is really good actually. At the very least I would strongly suggest you try the demo, because it is very good

@@jsan2548 I heard they kind of did, or at least enough to get many people angry. However, the way I see it, they didn’t do anything that comes close to “ruining” the game. The dialogue gets the point across well enough, despite some changes and a few words that get lost in translation/localization.

I was always hearing about it but that was it. It never really caught my attention until I started playing octopath traveler a few days ago. I didn't think I would like a game with this art style but it seems I actually love to play these type of games. The story, the art style, the gameplay. I love it all. Looking forward to playing this one too.

Square is having a banger of a year. If they’ll remaster something as obscure as Live A Live, I have much hope they’ll remaster some of their more popular backlog. HD2D and older RPG’s are the absolute perfect combination.
Yeah, you’d think they’d listen to everyone and bring the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters over to Switch and take their year from “banger” to legendary.

This game looks and sounds awesome! I'll definitely pick it up later when I have the time. There are so many RPGs coming out this year. I will be able to play Persona 5 later, Xenoblade 3 today, slowly but surely going through Octopath, and finishing up triangle strategy. If only I had more time in the day to get through these games.
My new OLED Switch arrives later today so I’m waiting to play it on that new screen. Can’t wait but ice also just had my copy of Shredders Revenge turn up and I’m struggling not to crack on with it rn!

I always wanted to play it and recently I did but I gotta say although visually it’s beautiful I love the separate characters and how each story is told I honestly got a bit tired after playing through like the 4th or 5th story. I know that I haven’t finished the game and I know the ending is apparently phenomenal but I don’t know. I know there will be many people who swear on their life that I have to continue playing and see the ending but I don’t know if I can if I’m being honest.
I really wanted to play Triangle Strategy but the fact that is 75% cutscenes and 25% gameplay put me off, I’ll be playing this instead, looks awesome.
It's on my list as soon as I can pick it up. Physical of course 👍

I've already beaten the Twilight of Edo Japan, Near Future and Present Day stories. Easily one of the most unique RPGs so far. The battle system is fun and the soundtrack is amazing! Easily a must play!

I choose this one over xenoblade 3. I planner to buy xeno first but after trying demo i changed my mind. And after rethinking xeno will require 100+ of playing. Sometimes this is tiring too long game.

This game is a gem. I finished the prehistoric, China, and the Japan stories. I just started the wild west section.
Finished Imperial China and western myself. Working on near future and present now. So far I like western the best, as its final fight was pretty intense. So many enemies to take out.
My advice to you, search every nook and cranny for supplies. If you don't, you'll be overrun with baddies. Make sure to give certain supplies to certain characters. Frying pan to the woman for example.
Look at the descriptions next to the supplies, they'll help you utilize them more efficiently.

Where is this magical Nintendo at??? I'm going through thousands of roms from snes to the Wii... I can't find ONE game I would play on the Nintendo....where is this magic system at??? 99.999% of Nintendo games are not even made by Nintendo, but lets at least try to give them some credit..... Zelda (always sucked). Mario (the worst game in history), and maybe F-zero (nobody cares..even 30 years ago) and um.....um... Where is this fantastic Nintendo at???? I'm not normally into pixelated games, but this looks really interesting. Think I'll give it a try based on your review.
You will love it. Each story timeline is contained and short. the overall game is between 20-30 hours. I it looks amazing on the OLED switch.
I played the demo -the Edo Japan story - and I bought the game day 1 but never played it because so many other good games were coming out at the same time. Fast forward to today when I picked it up again. The last week or so I've been playing TLOU2, another one I never finished when it came out, but just wasn't feeling like that today. So I picked up Live Alive and played through the distant future story. It was amazing, and such a great antidote to the darkness and tension of TLOU2. It was especially refreshing to start and finish a story in a game in under a day! Will definitely continue with this awesome little game... Can't wait!

Jedi Outcast WAS a great game on PC. The port is terrible. Without a keyboard and mouse, it is impossible to aim. Aspyr is the company, let’s not forget, that recently put out KOTOR 2 with a game breaking bug that made it impossible to finish the game. You can probably get outcast for PC for like $3.99. It really is a good game. Just not on console.
"it's more about the words"....I think some youtube "content" creators, forget this. Long time RGT sub, I can tolerate very few channels that go off topic, clickbait non stop or just are one big commercial of nothing.
RPGs aren't really my cup of tea, pokemon gets boring, but tactical RPGs are my favorite, this game mixes a small amount of regular rpg n tactics. I kinda wished it ends up meshing all parties together in one big story with all of em together, but other than than a fun game n 7 fun different stories and different ways to play each of them. I can see replay value being good too because there's many secret stuff in the game. Very fun even after playing triangle strategy (best tactic rpg to date)
The game is too short to justify the prices, I think I will wait for sales while I am playing with Xenoblade 3

Theres some hidden sexual references in The Prehistoric and Imperial china stories. Peach buns reference when you talk to a villager. Gifting a wild dress to the girl is in the hay triggers fun in the hay.( best equip the dress later)

I've seen reviews from two different outlets that were mixed on this game, it's really refreshing hearing someone gush about it, especially as someone who's been looking forward to this since the remake was announced in February.

If you have not completed the game then you should talk about it. The game dramatically changes in the last segment of the game. The game is a solid game.

Pretty solid game. I kinda felt like some of the character chapters where chores more than enjoyable, and am in the last bit now. Still, definitely a unique experience and I can’t but agree that the cowboy chapter is so good- I got chills from it.
