    Scryve had big shoes to fill, stepping into those of the Ur-Quan.
    They kind of nailed it.
    The Contagion and the Negotiator aren't the best ships to fly against a Juggernaut, I'd lead with the Interceptor or Grasper and... Oh! You did that! Good call!

      Hot take: I like them better than the Ur-Quan, especially the Kohr-Ah. There's frankly not that much to them after you hear 'the words' -- most tellingly, this confession doesn't alter their behavior in the slightest. As far as the Scryve go, they have enough self-awareness to alter their behavior towards the Xraki and humanity. Not a lot, because they're arrogant bastards, but there's at least the spark of something deeper.

      Actually Ur-quan shoes are quite small, just there's rather a lot of them :p

    "Most creatures don't desire. They say they do. Most creatures desire security."
    Very true, historically speaking.

    • @maltheopia
      @maltheopia ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Scryve don't seem to realize that this applies to them, too. They themselves say that they do not want any new Scryve to be born because it would detract from their idea of perfection. Meaning, they value security above all else, too.
      That said, they do have a twisted sense of self-awareness, one large enough to realize that their desire for security is going to extinct their race. What's weird is that they seem to be okay with that -- while sneering at other races for doing the same. I love these arrogant bastards lmao

  • @maltheopia

    I always wondered why the Scryve suppressed the story of how they overcame the Faction to bring the galaxy peace. It's badass and something you should be bragging about. Or do they not like to suggest that they were once helpless and weak?

    • @tarponpet
      @tarponpet  ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Yeah they have a superiority complex. As covered in the Audio Logs, they don't even like telling the story to the general Scryve populance as it isn't "palletable"

      The Scryve don't bother telling other species about it, because they believe other species are beneath them in their minds.
      Do you get home from work and tell the ants in your yard how awesome you are?
      If you do; that's kind of rad, actually.

      @@linksbetweendrinks7032 Hmm? The Scryve constantly boast to the humans and their ward species; it's one of the complaints the Phamhyst have about them. I just found it funny that they don't boast about the one thing that would have me going 'okay, that's super-badass and I'm actually kind of intimidated by you now'.

      They make a very nice contrasting antagonist to the Ur-Quan. Abuse victim who violently refuses to acknowledge they were abused v. oblivious abuser who sees honestly sees themselves as the hero.
      I wonder what they'd say to each other if they met at full power. Actually, I want a game where most of the SCO and SCII species meet each other. You'd better believe I want to pit Androsynth or Pkunk ships against Mu'kay and Lexite ones.

    Any chance for a video on the dialogue for finding a Scryve colony world , other than their homeworld, prior to beating the game?

    • @tarponpet

      @Snowmanse ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@tarponpet Sure, i'll start a new game and see if I can find one. I know there is one at one of the stars in the southern end of their territory. They all die after you beat the game and you can go to the ruins for some ships and RU. But the dialogue before then is interesting.

      @@tarponpet Found one at Fomalhaut, on Fomalhaut 1 but doesn't seem to have as much to talk about as I remember. @@tarponpet They're a pale shadow of the Ur-Quan. The Ur-Quan had an understandable excuse--thousands of years of slavery, that they broke free of in a war that involved willingly wearing torture devices for months on end. They were broken, insane, and traumatized, Black and Green both reaching the wrong-est answers to "how do we prevent ever being slaves again".
      The Scryve are just... they're unapologetically awful. "We awoke and were immediately forced to do a genocide. After that, the next seven genocides weren't so bad. Then we decided to be nice until we learned that _other species_ inevitably do something catastrophically stupid (but not us, no, never, we never did, please ignore the genocides). So obviously the only real answer was to put ourselves in charge, by force."
      Where the Ur-Quan Kzer-Za are acting out of genuine concern against the genuine threat of the Kor-Ah in their shattered and traumatized minds, the Scryve are just tyrants and thugs who think they're the wisest beings in the universe. The only thing they're missing is thin handlebar moustaches for twirling during their painfully shallow, self-aggrandizing, Saturday Morning Cartoon BS.
