Hi Shane. This is such an important subject. Remember, any mistake made on these transmission shafts, the whole engine has to be totally disassembled and cases split to correct the mistake. Thanks for your videos.
I owe you a lot Shane, I was in complete transmission assembly hell. According to the schematic (‘71 Kawasaki F8) after installing 4th gear on the output shaft goes a washer followed by a circlip ring. Well, that leaves the washer dangling, and like you mentioned this is a precision assembly and nothing should be left dangling. I then referenced the cutaway diagram like you showed, to identify exactly what should be located where, and son of a gun the schematic has them reversed. THANK YOU!

I'm rebuilding a 96 CR250. Your video or someone elses mentioned that the washers and split rings on the tranny are directional. I checked mine and they were all on backwards according to the service manual. I'm not convinced that a mechanic had spit the cases at some point and did that by accident. The bike is pretty original. I think they were like that from the factory.
I'm doing a video on a 2001 Harley right now where a snap ring was installed backwards from the factory. Rare but not impossible. Yes, these are directional and have been FOREVER...EVERY service manual states this BUT it is found in the "general" chapter which is often not read. I have done multiple videos on this.
