The poodle part is the smart part. Poodles are the 2nd smartest dog breed. Poodles give the smart,the golden retriever gives the size. My poodle follows me down the stairs, as I use a cane. As I go down a step, she goes down a step behind me. I didn't teach her to do that, she taught herself. She follows me to the bathroom and sits until I'm done. She is only 14 lbs, if she was big she would be an awesome service dog.
Service dogs are phenomenol. Its very expensive to train them, but they are well worth it.
