I have very fond memories of Dewsbury. My Uncle lived there and we visited every every month when I was a child. Uncle Jack was the jailor at the town hall and told me about him locking up Peter Sutcliffe. All seemed pretty peaceful with the march. I dont pretend to have any solutions for Isreal and Gaza but I just hope that at some point they can all live in peace.

Both the comment and reply show an ignorance of what protesting is about. Peaceful protest is one of the most effective ways for the majority of us to have our voices heard and to say it will change nothing is both dismissive and misses the point. Sitting on our arses moaning about stuff we don't like is what achieves nothing. Did the Sufrgettes, the Boston Tea Party, the Storming of the Bastille, the Hungarian Revolution, Gandhi's Salt March, the Stonewall Riots, Vietnam war protests, Tiananmen Square, the anti- Apartheid movement, the Jarrow marchers all achieve nothing??

The Jail in the Town Hall was closed down after his arrest. That was an absolutely crazy time...so much tragedy.

What will a march do from Batley to Dewsbury. They won’t gain anything. Traffic will have come to a standstill on that road.

How can they allow the blocking of traffic and inconvenience others? I'm not saying they can't protest, but you have green spaces to protest in.
