I was pleasantly surprised to see the name Leenock. Turns out he had just finished his service too and made his return. Comment on delaying military service and stuff: Most "typical" Korean men prefer serving early, ranging, on average, from college freshman to sophomore years, so that it doesn't get in the way of job searching later on. Professional sports players, if they obtain major accomplishments like Olympic medals, can get exemptions. E-sports obviously is not yet recognized in such major international sporting events, so most pro players nowadays choose to delay at least a couple times. A select few older generation Starcraft players had the opportunity to keep playing while serving by joining Air Force ACE, but that's about it, and that still wasn't an exemption.
As a person who played WoL (yeah, boomer confessions) and kinda stopped playing SC2 for a while and returned to it recently, I was really surprised and delighted to see those names
Okay an overlord as a pylon to proxy zerg structures was NOT something that I've ever thought and didn't even think to think of. That's awesome. It makes so much sense too 😂 Hope we see more of that cuz that could lead to some awesome games.
These ZvZ openings were very similar to common builds in Wings of Liberty. If someone built a 2nd hatch before pool, I automatically started a spine in their second and ling flooded them. If I tried to build a 2nd hatch before pool and they went pool first, it was almost always game over. And I couldn't quite scout early enough to safely go 2nd hatch before pool. Although sometimes you could try 2nd hatch before pool, start a spine crawler, and if safe, cancel it before completion.

It's also interesting that Korean Zerg and European Zergs have different playstyles. I recall a zoun vs serral where zoun absolutely messed it up because he misunderstood what serral was doing. I think lambo was one of the casters there so he explained why zoun played that way because Korean zergs have a different way of playing.
i Gotta say lowko, the advantage of not seeing the 3rd base with an overlord is he doesnt really care about that, becouse he wont know how many drones will be there and the overlord is only there to cover the pathway to be able to count lings..
Many Koreans do their national service as a KATUSA. The pay sucks but you are treated like a regular US soldier which means you get off time and are billeted in the barracks with the US soldiers. This means if they have a computer, they can bring it with them or if they have a roommate who is a US soldier, they can use theirs.
Serral practices against AI using the Arcade, he practices on 4x to 8x speed over and over, that's why he has so much good control in normal because to him it's slow giving him much more time to be decisive and commit to macro or micro decisions 😉
I'm sorry lowko but platinum league now is gold league from when the game had all its payers. Mostly because of the removal of bronze league (technically it still exists but now only 1% of players are in it vs 20% back in the day) it might be true that pro players are better in both raw skill, apm and builds but bellow diamond it's a shit show

I don't like watching cheese. It lacks any sort of impressive skill besides maybe on the defender's side. Leenock looks like the zerg ripoff of MaxPax. Plays with no longevity in mind whatsoever. Either they win within 5 minutes or they lose.

Feels like it's so rare to see a Korean Zerg player. It's either Serral, Reynor, Lambo, or Scarlett. So nice to see how they play.
It's also interesting that Korean Zerg and European Zergs have different playstyles. I recall a zoun vs serral where zoun absolutely messed it up because he misunderstood what serral was doing.
