I'm a member, too, and if you take advantage of not only the knowledge gained from the monthly magazine, but also dive into the wealth of resources they post on their website, it is well worth the membership fee.
If I still lived in the DMV area I would definitely go and meet Ben. My advice would be stay away from the trenches of intercity Baltimore, they can be treacherous (see The Wire) that show wasn’t too far off..and be cautious of the bridges. I was visiting B-more that very day when the bridge got hit, sad day.
From Canada, I've been a member of the ANA for many years. Also a member of the ANS, American Numismatic Society which main content is ancients and they have a quarterly newsletter. Also a member of the Royal Canadian Numismatic Association, which also has a monthly newsletter. So, a lot of great associations and societies for the numismatic.
The ANA is a great organization. The Numismatist is excellent, and back issues are digitally available to members. They have an extensive library from which you can check out books through the mail. I've been to the summer seminar twice, and I'm going again this year. My membership won't lapse until my wife cancels it after I pass away!
I was born and raised in Baltimore, sadly it is not the same place. There are still several nice areas though. Baltimore is a city of the haves and the have nots and the difference broad. I have been to Phoenix a bunch of times and the flight to Baltimore usually arrives midday , be sure to stop and grab a crabcake on the way in from the airport, maybe Jimmy's or G&M Seafood, both do a really great crabcake. I am going to come down Friday to the show I hope to get a chance to say hi.
Omg I love your contact! I just got into coins and i love the history of coins! I will be at the Baltimore show and i never been. I heard it is a really good show. I will catch you and will love to meet you at the show. I am a big silver and gold stacker for a while now. I am trying not to get carry away with coins. My focus is stacking for my retirement. I am still young and I am 42 years old. I don’t want to get into politics but I don’t trust the goverment. And our dollar. lol.
I was an ANA member for 27 years. I enjoyed the magazine, but that’s about all I got out of membership. I just let my membership lapse. If I had continued membership I would have been a 50 year member in 2021.
I was a life member, but canceled it because I wasn't happy with the direction the organization was going. They canceled it immediately over the phone - no questions asked. I ended up signing up at a lower level and agree it provides value, but I think it's hampered by being too insular.
The last time I bought a copy of the Red Book (two years ago), they had a discount code in the back of the book that would give you 50% off an ANA membership. I don't know if the most recent editions of the Red Book still offer that, but just thought I would mention it.

Hey Ben - Proud to be an ANA Gold Member.

ANA membership also offers digital archives of many resources. Thanks, Ben;

41st!
ANA is also considered a charity so I made sure to donate which also got my employer to match that donation.
Safe travels Ben.
Just joined! Thanks, Ben. I wasn't aware of what all the ANA did. Can't wait to get the monthly magazine too.

I live right outside of Baltimore City limits, I'll make a trip into the city to meet you Ben.
Hey Ben. Sorry to hear you won’t be making it to TNA this year. It’s always good to see repeat faces at the table.
Agreed 100%. The articles in "The Numismatist" are very good. I prefer the digital version, though.
Was that a copy of Jean Cohen’s Classiification and value of errors on Lincoln cents?
I was hoping to make it to Conroe in June but it’s looking unlikely. Some friends visiting me and that’s the only weekend that works 🙃
