Payback for all the Tails Abuse, I'd say. I know I shouldn't be cheering for the bad guy, but in this case, seeing Tails take revenge is pretty satisfying. I always felt sorry for Tails, and I usually play Sonic games with Tails when available. He deserves an adventure of his own, without Sonic by his side. Tails can look out for himself, he doesn't need Sonic to take on Robotnik.
