I will never understand the wording of people wanting Sweden to be ~taking a risk~ at Eurovision? No other country receives these comments. The reason why Sweden sends well produced pop songs almost every year is because of Melodifestivalen and how huge it is. Swedes don't really care too much about ESC, however Melodifestivalen is a big deal and this Grand Final had viewing numbers of close to 3 million people - more than 1/4 of the Swedish population then actually follows it live. No wonder then that high quality pop is entered to Melodifestivalen and then voted as the winners by both the public and the juries?
Hi, I usually agree with you in your reviews, but here I have an observation. I find you talking over almost the whole song in your listening rather than giving it its full attention. How can you fully follow and take in the song while you talk and think about other things which I see you do throughout the song. Sorry but I find it nonchalant and that you laugh when saying "knowing who won I don't think they will".?? It sounds to me like you already made up your mind before this listen. You are of course entitled to your opinion, but I was not amused. Personally it took me a couple of listens at the studio version to fully appreciate the song, which I'm not alone in. So when it has run hot in Malmö before the competition, it will surely reach the approval of more people. I'm normally careful with the lyrics, except in this case. This is a club banger, a pure dancy song. Here, no poetic lines of text about changing the world are required. I just want to clarify how incredible a lot of work and knowledge has gone into this performance and the guys have given their all to deliver this in the professional manner I see. In my book it deserves respect and I want to give a nod to those who comment that I am so incredibly less on the phrase: "it will go well because it is Sweden".? Gah!! I can also point out that "Luktelk" has an extremely limited melodic range where "luktelk" is repeated very often. It never lifts melodically, which for example me and Georgina "the honest vocal coach" also noted. So if you compare these bangers, there is a bit more dynamism here because it starts mysteriously, is more melodious, shifts in tempo/beat and builds to a club firework. I agree that you want more of the ending, but it is on purpose, they say, to leave you wanting more (I still want more). These guys have been on stage since childhood and deliver their professionalism and genuine charm on stage. Which makes it anything but soulless in my opinion. Those who listen the studioversion and when it is played in the club don't sit still for a second!! The song has a heavy, specific club sound, a bit industrial and a nice rocking beat. It's clean, slick, cool, dark and ultra modern 😎 (even those who vibe with it get prettier too I've noticed😉). We like this stylish/direct design language here in Sweden, which is at the forefront in terms of design. Toning this down might say more about personal preference. I prefer this 100 times to Croatia's kitsch on stage, for example. But it is also a matter of personal taste. (Matt is the first person I've heard who doesn't like the staging at all🤨). In the end, it's mostly about different tastes and that's why I would be careful in how it's presented. There is nothing to suggest that this song has a lower quality than, for example, "Luktelk" or any other song in similar genre. And the boys are in sync in song and dance which is something to applaud because it is unusual. It is quite unique that two twins sing so well together. As a club banger this is great in my opinion plus the show and staging give it an extra sparkle. I'm happy if it makes the top 10. Have a good day. Ciao! 🌺
Woow! Thank you for your long and thoughtful comment! I usually talk more over these one-song reactions to be able to avoid any sort of copyright claims. When it are more songs in one selection, I can cut a bit more in the reactions themselves since there are also other songs to be analyzing. And yeah, when an artist returns to a national final, you can usually expect something in the same ballpark, so that's why I made those comments. I do really appreciate how much time and effort put into these elaborate stagings and it does look pretty good for most of the performance. I just prefer music and stagings to be more raw and less polished, I think that's where our difference comes from! But hey! That's the beauty of music and there will always be something for everyone. The song has also grown on me a bit since my first reacion. Again, thank you for your comment, I wanted to give a bit more of an elaborate response in return as well
@@RoyPM2 Hello and thank you for your reply! I'm no expert on copyright claims, but I read what you write. Yes, there are many factors which affects how we interpret and like different kinds of music. Ethnicity, culture, musical background and experience, upbringing, genes, age etc. Quite naturally, which is why I respect your taste. And each country has its own signature. Sweden is known for being a pop wonder with a huge music export and hit makers across borders. It's our "DNA". But still it feels like people demand other things from us which would not have happened in the same extent if it were another country's music culture.? So this sound can perhaps be expected, but it must not be too polished, nice and generally. I am not a typical Swede in that sense, but require dynamism which is unfortunately lacking in many of the songs. I would have liked to send Circus X instead but due to the new voting system they didn't have a chance. I'm okay with this song because of that "underground"/call it Faithless beat that hasn't been heard significantly before and thus stands out. But generally I lean more towards, for example, Gåte, as I require more complexity in the songs. M&M will still get the arena and pre-parties dancing. The energy is important as a host nation. To sum up, I think it's important to show each country's music culture respect, whether you like it or not. And the same for everyone. I'm also angry that we don't let in more new songwriters to bring in new sounds. So much so that I have written to Mellomedia and would like a change as soon as possible 😉. We can, for example, pick any group that has finished the music college that can write more interestingly songs. Sorry for the long answer. Have a good time! 👍🎶😊
@@Denis-89 no one would praised this as a winner potential, nor it would be distinguishably fan favorite entry. It's empty pop trash song, so basic like AI made it.

Italy never take risks either and people never complain about that. And both countries get away with safe entries cause its proven people like it
Roy, thanks as ever, totally agree with your reaction... Loved the latest ESC vid too
Strange fact M&M won (J=85, P=92) with the same points as Loreen (J=92, P=85) last year, 177…with the Jury and Public votes essentially flipped.
Roy aren't you going to react to the rest of the ESC Songs? I love your reactions, I miss u and your videos! Please come back soon

Personally the song feels too sanitised for me to really get into it. It's a decent song, performed well, they'll do well because it's Sweden
They're opening the show, they won't do THAT well
@@Unfortunate2857 They could with the updated voting system

the visuals are stunning but songwise this is imo one of the most bland Swedish entries ever. This belongs to the right side of the scoreboard.
