Hermitcraft updating to 1.21 might take a bit. You need CIT for all your custom models and that will take a while to update since Mojang removed NBT tags and so the mod needs a big rewrite.
Decked Out 2 was such a masterpiece and took so much of your time away from the other Hermits last season. You are entitled to a huge break from building underground. You should take as much time as you can for the buildup of interest and anticipation of the next one - possibly even to Season 12 or 13. Love all your content and loved seeing you and Mrs. Tango playing together in Among Us! Love her whole bubbly personality 😍and how you both interact together!
TO FIX THE MINECART PROBLEM (discussed around 1:03:00): mobs only wander if they're within 32 blocks of a player, so you can use something like a hidden chicken wandering between pressure plates to detect if a player is nearby. As long as that pulse is extended for enough time to reliably assume the chicken has moved again (i.e., five minutes or so), then it can be used to continually refresh a chunk loading system. Once you leave the area, those few minutes of extension should also be enough for the minecart system to power down before the chunk loader turns off.
that's a spherical 32 blocks though, right? it would be a measure for a afk spot to extend the player loaded chunks. you'd have to litter too many of them around the factory to be useful i think. a network of chunk unloading detectors might be better. a chunk unloading
Good idea. Could also be a button to activate and the chickens to turn it off. String on observer could also be used in key locations to revise the 5 minute timer to reduce the likelihood of the system turning off prematurely.
I was thinking of using the zombie pigmen spawning for that, but the 32m AI radius means that only work if one spawn when Tango passes by the storage room.
Some of the steam sounds he played sounded like water to me. Maybe that should make sense, like how watery my pressure cooker sounded when the pressure is released and steam spits out.
so, naked trial chamber run the Friday night after the server updates? ^^ what I'd like to see from copper-based redstone is copper wire. Lets you run redstone signals vertically; shocks anything that touches it while it's powered, unless you craft it with wool to insulate it, and insulated wire is waterproof.
they could add rubber trees to get rubber sap to insulate wires among other uses something like a rubber piston to go with sticky pistons or rubber blocks and balls.
44:40 If you *were* to eventually make Decked Out 3... Decked Out 1 was just Decked Out. Decked Out 2 was clearly Double Decker. Decked Out 3? The Deckining 😁 Seeing Pearl give actually good redstone advice to Tango warms my heart 🥰 Honestly, if DO3 happens in season 11, making it a Tango/Pearl collab would be *amazing.*
Copper pipes would be an awesome addition if you could run them like hopper lines, except they transport an item from point A>B in 1-4 ticks instead of how long hoppers take.
I don't know if Tango reads these, but a simple way to detect players is with a detector, which can detect whether a chunk entity ticking or just block ticking. Since chunkloaders load only 3x3 entity ticking chunks, which is less than a player, you can put a chunkloader in the factory, and the detector 2 chunks away from it, and it will be reliably able to detect whether the factory is loaded by a player, or just by a chunkloader.
Since you’re contemplating the chunk loaders for the factory, you could activate them using that old trick where you can detect when an mobs AI starts moving since that is a smaller range then redstone updates
It would be cool to hook that up to a clock with an audio player "at the third toot, the time will be 12:00 pm, precisely" Now I'm wondering if the create mod could be used to make a working clock, with moving gears and everything.
It's not part of any mechanic, but I like building my redstone on copper. Makes it feel more analog/electrical/mechanical. Do it all with un-waxed copper so my mechanisms visibly age over time as I work on things around them. For extra important blocks or blocks that could trigger observers/BUD if they oxidize, I use gold.
for the smoke on-off-erators, you can point the flint&steel crafter into a hopper into the dispenser and pull a comparator signal off the hopper. that'll give you a little more space
If you and Mumbo are both in the next Life series, maybe yall can team up or atleast seek him out for interaction. The Life series seems to be a better time for collabs like that than inturrupting both of yalls seperate projects on HC to do stuff.

You could easily replace the minecarts supplying the crafters with water streams. Aligning items in water streams with chests allows those items to be picked up by hoppers left and right of where they're going.
I dont think he sees these, but i do believe for a chunk loader to help with the shut off system he could just send a signal with when he shuts the factory down, that triggers the chunk loaders, and every time they come back through using a observer on a activator rail to send a shovel into a crafter to use as an item counter, and when the counter reaches 9 (9 passes through) the chunk loaders shut down as well. Should give enough time to shut down the factory, and not being to cheaty, or causing to many frequent server updates.
Copper Pipes would be amazing, they could work like a single space hopper without all the lag of checking above and since they would be very limited in function hopefully they can zero tick, it just pulls from one end and pushes out the other.
Can a skulk sensor detect a rolling minecart? Perhaps could use that with a timer for keeping chunk loaders running long enough until the factory is shut down. Or duh just a detection rail.
Idea for a player detector that doesn't require littering your base with sculk sensors and also works when AFK: Run a long redstone wire loop all the way around your factory, just outside the chunk loaders area. Connect one end of the wire to a fast clock (e.g. 1 second interval) and the other end to a short pulse generator which goes into an AND gate positioned inside the same chunk as the clock. Run a second redstone wire directly from the clock to another short pulse generator into the other input of the AND gate, this second wire needs repeaters to exactly match the delay of the long loop. Feed the AND gate's output into a pulse extender long enough to at least match the clock's interval. As long as the entire redstone loop is loaded the AND gate will pulse and refresh the pulse extender. When the pulse extender turns off this is your signal that there are no players in the area and from there you proceed with the safe shutdown procedure using chunk loaders. Edit: on a second thought you may not even need the AND gate, just a clock generating the signal, signal travels around the entire base and goes back into a comparator decay circuit to refresh it for as long as everything is loaded.
2:20:00 I think some mods like Carpenters used to do that. Would allow you to build something out of frames first, then insert the material. Separating the shape from the material would seriously help the inventory system, a bit like in Valheim.
I've heard of mods *_not_* adding slab and stair versions to their thousands of blocks because the game takes too long to load them all on start-up, just something to consider.
Yeah, I guess everything becomes a resource problem at some point. Although if it was done through something like I said where you don't have slabs and stairs as blocks, but slab/stair shaped frames where you put a full block into, then there wouldn't need to be all those variants to begin with, so no impact on loading time as long as the game can process how those frames work.
1:05:13, i was wondering the chunkloaders could work by running the redstone through a chunk (that does not get chunkloaded), that way when you are there the redstone would work since the chunk is loaded, and when you are not there the redstone would not run since the chunk is not loaded
@Tango Tek2 Turn on the chunk loaders with the same switch that turns on the farm. Then you can STILL kick yourself for forgetting to turn off the factory...it is just that you horrifically lagged the server with your running factory and chunk loaders, not because you broke the factory. It is a win for everyone. 8)
Could you run a comparator off the input chest to turn a light on if you need to restock the chest. Maybe the light can be in the room where the steam comes out

Question Tango- is it possible to have a minecart hoppers near your steam vents on the surface. When a vent stops working simply throw flint and steel in from above ?
1:04:00 If you have chunk loaders around the factory, lazy chunk detectors, and a chunk loading detector, you can set it up so that when the factory is on there are chunk loaders running, when you get out of the area and some of the chunks are turned into lazy chunks the factory detects this and shuts itself and the chunk loaders off, and when you reload the chunks the chunk reloader detector turns everything back on, no large server lag. Technically there will be added server lag, as a chunk loader loads both overworld and nether chunks.
If you're doing chunk loaders just have them turn on and off with the factory, and turn off the factory when you go offline so it's not impacting the server when you're not playing or you don't want it to, anything ese is just over engineering
