This house and the fitzwilliam family is so interesting. If only that house could talk. I only recently learned that fitzwilliam was having an affair with Kathleen Kennedy sister of JFK. They died together in a plane crash on their way for a romantic weekend. She is buried here in the UK. How the Kennedy's handled the whole situation, that's another story. Full of history and mystery, just love it.

Yes, she's buried on the estate of the other major aristocratic family local to my area, the Cavendishes at Chatsworth House. I've visited her grave in the pretty little village of Edensor on the Chatsworth Estate. Here's a bit more info if you're interested.

Wentworth Woodhouse became my favorite country house in 1983 when I read a biography of Kathleen “Kick” Kennedy and her tragic life. It wasn’t until 1999 when finally got a computer & internet I could finally see pictures and read the history of this magnificent home & gardens. The daughter of the 8th Earl, Lady Juliet is still alive today she inherited most of the land and the Stunning art collection. Kathleen’s mother Rose was a catholic with a big C and believed hole heartedly that It was bad enough her daughter was going to marry a Protestant (Lord Hartington) but to carry on with a married man (the Earl Fitzwilliam) was to much to bare and told Kathleen she would burn in hell & the family would never have anything to do with her ever again if she married him. I don’t think the rest of the family shared her Opinion.

Nice video, but that's not Wentworth Woodhouse. Is it the Garden Centre?

Yes, well spotted. Technically you're correct but this used to be part of the Wentworth Woodhouse garden as did the entire site of the garden centre and associated outlets, so I still tend to think of them in that context even though I know that they have different owners.

Who were the Wentworths? How did they come into wealth? Which Wentworth was most interested in this garden? That's nice they put labels throughout their gardener so the viewer can appreciate the species and perhaps buy one if they like it. Their Hostas are protected from the deer. I'm not a fan of the same on steroids either but they were. They held the gold:-( I am supposing they had more money than gardening knowledge? My guess is that a feminine man designed this garden bc there is so much green and large non-flowering shrubs? I just bought Sangria Geum bc John Lord mentioned Geums. We don't see Geums in our big box stores. My Geum is thriving. I have it planted in Creeping Charlie and it must like rain bc we get a lot of rain and Creeping Charlie keeps it very moist. I just got the mini version of Mlle Cecile Brunner.
