My mom always left the bay leaves in her soups and stews. She told us it was “good luck” if we found one in our bowl. I’ve done the same with my kids. Just a silly little family tradition

I can't for the life of me remember how I ended up finding your channel but what a change you have made for me. I am 53 and have raised 4 kids so I have spent plenty of time in the kitchen but my husband and I have been empty nesters for a few years now and I have all but given up on cooking UNTIL recently after finding your channel. You have inspired me to get myself back in the kitchen with your simple yet yummy recipes. I love your ideas, how down to earth you are and how doable you make it. It's been so fun the past couple of weeks to have a yummy meal to look forward to each evening that I actually enjoy preparing because of their simplicity, Thank you for all of your effort in sharing your videos. Also, wanted to add that the first recipe I tried was the buffalo chicken stuffed bell peppers. I love stuffed peppers but my husband not so much but I know he likes anything "buffalo" so I gave it try and he loved them!! Definitely will stay on our menu!

For Mexican rice, you can toast it have it be golden brown. Boil water add chicken bouillon and 2-3 fresh tomatoes blend it with onion and fresh garlic. Add to the rice and let it cook! Your Recipe looks yummy as well!

Here is my go to salsa recipe:
    4 tomatoes
    1 jalapeno
    I/4 piece of onion
    2 cloves of garlic
Salt and pepper to taste add at the end when blending
**optional for extra flavor a squeeze of lime and a little bit of chicken powder bullion.
I like to use a sheet of foil and I put everything in and wrap it up and place it in a small pot with a lid.
I let everything steam and get toasty.
For like 7 mins to 10 mins. Then I let it cool down for a few minutes and blend it!
Try it out you're gonna love it!

My stepfather worked in a Mexican restaurant, and he would make the salsa at home sometimes. It's beyond simple. Canned or fresh tomatoes (the restaurant used canned), a jar of pickled jalapenos with just a little bit of the juice added in - blend and done. I still make this but jazz it up with some cilantro and a bit of lime juice and a clove of garlic.

I don't really care for a lot of onion. I use to use the powder to. But since I have a roommate he uses onion in everything! I do like when he makes whole onions on the grill. They are really good! If you want to know how he fixes them let me know and I'll tell you. I love the way you fix everything. So simple and easy. Roommate won't be here for 10 days so I'm gonna look at some of your previous recipes and see what I can fix just for me. Everything looks good. Thanks for ideas. ❤

I use a can of el Pato and tomatoe sauce. I fry the rice first, get it nice and brown and toasty. I add onions and garlic, and it turns out so bomb, there is never left overs. The El Pato makes it very hot though.
    Homemade Salsa:
I use about twenty roma tomatoes, I roast them on the grill.
    Jalapeños (3)
    Habenero (2)
Seranos (2) grill all the chiles also.
    Onion
    Garlic
    Salt
    Pepper
Blend all together with a little bit of water, and the roasted flavor is literally so bomb. I throw mine in my vitamix and it does it all quick.

Hey Kristin! I'm making your chicken noodle soup tonight for supper. I'm making it in the Crock-Pot but I did use boneless chicken thighs and I did sear them in a skillet with some bacon grease and then removed them and then added my carrots, celery, and onion and sauteéd those a few minutes, then added the garlic and a bit of chicken broth and then added everything to the Crock-Pot along with the rest of the broth, bay leaves, and Better Than Bouillon. I am gonna let it cook on low for 5 1/2 hours and then add my noodles and let it go for 30 more minutes. I'll come back to this post later and let you know how we liked it although I'm sure it'll be delicious.

We make salsa by putting about 4 tomatoes and 2 whole jalapeño peppers over open fire and let them get charred a bit (it’ll make you cough so open a door or do it outside) then wait until it cools of and peel back the skin on the tomatoes and jalapeños and put everything in a blender and add about 2-4 cloves of garlic and a splash of water and salt and pepper to taste. It shouldn’t be too smooth but it will be so delicious and smoky 😍

Roast fresh tomatoes on a griddle or skillet , about 5-6 larger ones, until they are charred. Also roast some jalapeño or Serrano, up to you for heat. Make sure they get a good charr. Once they’re charred add to blender, don’t add any water bc tomatoes are juicy enough. Add a garlic clove or minced garlic in your case, and salt. Once it’s all blended add cilantro and onion, no onion for you. Super yummy!

Homemade chicken noodle soup is sooo delicious. Just a tip, keep the noodles seperate especially if you make a big batch and add it as you eat it, i found that the noodles get super mushy after a couple days, but do it however you want it, you know what you like!

There’s different ways my family makes salsa but it typically is salt, two red tomatoes, four green tomatoes, one or two garlic cloves, and as much chiles as you want (usually we use these green ones called Serrano, but sometimes we use Japanese peppers or Thai green chili peppers for green salsa. For red salsa we typically use pasilla, guajillo, chipotle, etc.). There’s three ways we make the chile: boil, fry, or grill. I typically boil the ingredients together and then blend it but frying tends to be the best. The oil helps make the salsa nice and thick. Grilling the peppers is best if you’re making a green salsa.
We also add onions to our salsa and my dad likes to add cilantro to his but it’s optional if you don’t want it.

Love, love your videos!! You actually make foods my son & I will eat! He’s not an onion eater at all...I like them, but use onion powder to substitute the actual onions except in meatloaf, then I chop them up very, very fine! I need to try your Spanish rice recipe the next time we have taco night...it looks good!!

Girl. Luck's is the brand of canned pintos my mom always used growing up & me too once I was first married ... and our stores stopped carrying them!! It's a regional thing ... I'm in IN & they haven't carried them anywhere here for years. Best canned pinto ever!

also .... those burritos looked bomb! I want to try those. I shared the salsa recipe that I use on my channel a couple weeks ago ... I've used it for years & always get lots of compliments on it!
