In this diagram if you have access to the other AS (R2 and R3) why not set local preference anyways? If you don't have access you cannot apply BGP-always-compare-MED command and MED will be useless, the traffic is still going to prefer the shortest AS-Path.

I was thinking the same thing. He said earlier we didn't have access to AS-600 but for configuring MED we are configuring it on AS-600. I guess best alternative is to use AS path prepend in case we do not have access to the other AS router.

Sir we don't have access to the R2 and R3 then how will we apply the command like #bgp always compare med

what is the point of defining MED when you anyways need to access routers in AS 600? You stated MED can be used if we dont have access other AS routers. Here even after defining MED, we still need to apply bgp-always-compare-MED.

The as path prepend explanation needs to be corrected. You keep saying prepend 600 on as 500. This leads to confusion for new guys

OUR AS 500 there no control in AS 600 configuration Then R2 and R3 belong to 600 you are adding " bgp-alwalys-compare-med". then with touching who it can be done.
