- After a brief intermezzo as a model, Charlotte Rampling had her acting breakthrough in1966 playing Meredith in the romantic comedy GEORGY GIRL. From there on she could have had her pick of every role in this genre. Her beauty was stunning. But she decided otherwise. Not ten years later she starred as a concentration camp prisoner, half naked wearing only a SS hat and braces, singing a Marlene Dietrich song in Cavani's THE NIGHT PORTER. But what stayed the same were these heavy, unforgettable eyes. With us she spoke about looking and being looked at.
