    I like handgun lights for long guns because they’re cheaper. As for the pressure pad, that sounds like a training issue. I haven’t had those problems, day or night. If you can’t pick up your rifle without activating the pressure pad, you need to train more. If light discipline isn’t something you’re constantly aware of, you need to train more (preferably with NODs). Long story short, your buddy had a lack of training issue, not an improper setup issue.

    TLR RM1 on ALL my long guns AND AR (7.5) Pistols...at 2oclock is perfect for me. Beware, you'll need at least 7-8 rail spaces for mounting or the tape switch cover below the thumb switch will fall off. No tape switch...agree w/Abner.

    For the sake of this topic, Modlite PL-350 with OKW head be perfect wml, PLHv2 & PLH5k heads also available. Pistol wml with 680 lumens & 69K candela. One of the wml options I use. Some will state it doesnt have momentary, but how difficult is it to use the switch to turn the light on and off quickly (momentary).
    I also live in an Urban setting and prefer to have a higher candela such as Modlite or Cloud Defensive wml to be able to penetrate past the surrounding light from buildings, street lights, vehicles, etc.
    At the end, best to have a wml or a handheld at least than no light at all.

  • @KendrasEdge757
    @KendrasEdge757 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Checkout the Cloud Defensive OWL. They’ve also got the REIN and REIN Micro. They’re doin some next level ish with WML’s!! I’ve got that on my home defense gun and my Surefire Scout with tape switch , on my edc “pistol” AR. The guy hittin the switch and poppin his light clearly hasn’t trained with that setup. Ive used a tape switch for years and haven’t “accidentally” hit the light since I first put it on there. Pistol lights are definitely an option. My only issue with them is MOST of them don’t have the throw you would need if you’ve got to use your primary. Yes the X300U and the TLR-1 HL do, but the rest of them don’t have the candela for any distance. And if anyone is typing out ‘Olight’ in your reply to me just delete your entire comment and move on. Lol anyways, Good video tip!!

      Tape switched lead to light ND's. If you don't have a tape switch it's nearly impossible to have a light ND. Another bonus to running pistol lights on your long guns, the lights also work on your pistol. Redundancy and contingency all in one.

    • @XtremeAdventures671
      @XtremeAdventures671 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@225degrees Rear activated push button probably the least likely for ND of light. Switch on X300 or Tlr-1 can be bumped as well. As for switch pad, some more easily depressed than others. I do like the CD Rein switch pad, less likely to ND. Mod button from modlite great as well. I believe there are better options for switch pads than before.

    • @225degrees
      @225degrees 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@XtremeAdventures671 No doubt there are some great options for pads. They all come with the same risk of a light ND and all cost more than a simple tube light with clicky switch. The CD or Modlite options are expensive, they limit you to weapon use only and you're slaved to a wall socket for power.

    I do have a pressure pad connected to my X300U-B on the top rail, but I'm running a quad rail so I can grip my AFG and use my thumb in a modified c-clamp on the side rail portion of the quad rail.

    I've been using X300U on my ARs for years . I took a class 7 or 8 years ago with LAV. I saw he was using X300U at 12 o'clock position . He let me shoot his BCM and I worked the X300U and fell in love with that setup . My go too 12.5 and 13.7 both have X300U ran at 12 o'clock. This setup is great if you don't consider owning a NightVision. Maybe for a small home defense gun light like this works, but not really for a true fighting rifle

      @@Tier1Citizen I don't get the point of your comment or this video, theses Tier 1 guys you are talking about don't use pressure pads on lights for this exact reason, they just use a momentary button the light comes with. Not to mention there is still a greater chance of you ADing your light with this pistol light thing than just using a plain rifle light. Imagine using this dumb set up in any actual conflict, like you're talking about in the video, you accidentally bump your rifle, oops you're fucked. I mean it would literally take a second to find a video about this from a tier 1 GWOT guy with more time in confit than anyone on earth, there's tons of them with TH-cam channels that have talked on this subject.

    Great content as always! The main reason I see guys not doing pistol lights at 12oclock like that is because they are saving that rail space for some kind of night vision laser device. What's your opinion on night vision stuff? Is night vision more of a toy than a tool for civilians?

    • @KendrasEdge757
      @KendrasEdge757 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Definitely not just a toy. A force multiplier for certain and having the most advantages over your threat is always the goal. With that said, it’s VERY expensive and requires significant training. Just walking and running in NOD’s is a learned and diminishable skill. The cheapest to get into it, if you’ve already got a gun setup for it, is $3k-$4k all the way up to $50k for panoramics/quads. If you can afford it and have somewhere to train with it and shoot at night than go for it. Plus it’s just fun!

    • @benmarshall5984
      @benmarshall5984 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@KendrasEdge757 good points. I think what I should have asked is if night vision is useful for most situations that civilians would find themselves in. I would love to have it because its super cool. It seems like a huge tactical advantage in ambush situations, but as a civilian whose reacting to violence not premeditating it, night vision seems kinda useless. Don't get me wrong, I want it and I think anyone who wants it should be able to have it, but I'm trying to guage where it should be on my priorities as something I need or something I just want.

    • @benmarshall5984

      @KendrasEdge757 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@benmarshall5984 yeah it’s usually the last thing people get into based on cost and use. Even just reacting I’d rather have it, but most situations are much more dynamic for us civilians.
