I saw the Brindisi sign and freaked out. I used to ride my bike from San Vito to the base when it was there in the 70s during the oil embargo. no vehicles on sundays. I was 12 years old than in1974 . Great times In San Vito area.

Hi, Great video. I've had a bafang bbso2 500 watt for 4 years now and its still going strong. Ive had problems with the speed sensor, blinking led, not working, but just buy a seperate speed sensor instead. I found for mainly level ground and canal paths that a big chain ring is better, I used a 48 but even a 50 would be better. The motor has never failed on me and im doing tyical rides of 50 kms and only had 2 punctures on my marathon tyres.😊

it is for my first ebike as I don’t really get tired pedaling all day, so screwing myself over with battery waste is not what I want to be concerned about during a ride. That takes the fun out of enjoying the ride, and likely make one lazy.

I really appreciate your videos! So in detail and describing the important things, great. I just installed my Bbs02b 500w and a 27ah 36v triangle battery. So pleased with it. The only thing I done so far is to change the secondary gear grease to Mobil Mobilith SHC 100, taking great care of cleaning out the original black grease (Moly). A question though, is the Mobil grease SHC100 compatible with the nylon gear as well? I have found some statements that it is. And also done some reprogramming.

Ah beautiful Italia. I'm from Canada and when I was in Rome in March it was like 18 degrees and we were all walking around in shorts and all the Italians were in winter coats still and we're looking at us like we were crazy people. Lol.

My bike has bbshd 1000w mid-drive and a 52v 21ah battery so I don't worry about range and I do love riding it I live the UK it is hilly where I live I loved you video and the information you gave thank you 😊 👍🏾

Interesting… I can usually understand about 50% of Spanish (I lived in Puerto Rico for a year 14 years ago), but I couldn’t pick up _any_ of his Italian.

@@altosack that may be because PR Spanish is quite different and recognizing some Spanish/Italian pairs require ample vocabulary, i.e.: "eating" -> comer (es) / mangiare (it). Spanish has "manjar" (feast), but it's rarely used.

Have you ever tried a clutch derailleur in the rear for the chain slack issue? Highly recommended. I use a sram gx eagle for my rear and haven't dropped a chain since installing.
I really enjoy your videos. Since 2 years Im wondering in what type of electrification to go. I rented decathlon bikes (hub & mid), I liked every type and I can't decide. Final decision is conversion: MID BBS02 500w 48V or 500W geared HUB. But im wondering what will be the diffenence. What is faster to the flat city and what consumes less electricity. 500 mid or 500 hub ? I need 50km range and average 35km/h speed.
Tongsheng has updated it's motor, tsdz2B. Would be interesting to see how it evolved. What i understand from their info is that it can handle more torque now.
I'm very impressed by the Tongsheng.
New model TSDZ2B has more robust gearing (can handle more torque, as you said), and more reliable freewheel that has less drag when pedaling without motor. And version with OSF (Open Source Firmware) is *super* programmable/customizable.
A Bafang killer? No - BBSHD has far more sheer power, and there's always a market for that. But a more elegant and refined product, I think, and the torque sensing feature is especially well integrated.
I may just buy one! 😉

Hello guys. Am having a mid drive build, 3KW to be precise, the controllers am finding are not for mid drive because they calculate speed from the motor not the tires. Also a display the calculates values from the wheel would be nice. Any leads will be highly appreciated

what do you recommend for a 750 what build for around 20mph range on road
So I guess you don't use the pedals much to go uphill since you have the 44T in front and a 7 or 8 cassette in the back, probably with something like 32T at max. This is not a really good hill climbing setup, isn't it ;)?
I'm thinking about putting a 250W/350W 48V 13Ah Bafang setup on my old full suspension MTB and it has a 8x cassette with 32T in the back. So this is why I'm wondering about this.

Ideally, the kit + the battery will be enough.
Don't worry if the battery connector and the motor's one don't match, you can always link the wires directly (or use common electrical junctions)
Any other extra upgrade can be purchased afterwards, when and if you really feel the need. 👍
Start right now to see if someone near you can take apart your bottom bracket (in case it's your first time... I never actually managed to do that myself) 😅
You can now get a Tongsheng kit with a throttle for more versatility.

Great video's, I ride a recumbent trike and recently installed a 500w Tongshen mid-drive with a 36v 12ah battery. This is the 1st motor so I'm still learning, I needed the assist on the hills where I live....I guess because the battery is new I can ride 30 to 40km and the battery doesn't show that there's any juice used?
Hey! It's quite normal, Tongsheng mid-drive motors tend to save more energy (because of the torque sensing s.)
I noticed (but don't know if it's just mine) that the on screen battery indicator seems to be always full, unless you're really low (I mean is not that precice), so I must find a way to show the voltage level somehow
BTW it's a great range :) with my 36V 15Ah I can reach 45-55km, it seems in line with your experience

I would hope that Bari would be relatively flat being by the sea - at least the parts that I have seen were fairly level. This would mean that even a 250w motor could be usable (and legal !).
It' absolutely flat - highest level above the sea is about ten meters. 250w is OK. The real problem is the 25 km/h limit. 30 30 would have been much better

Ma i tuo video mi hanno fatto salire dei dubbi circa i possibili pericoli visto il motore molto potente su un sistema frenante non proprio all'altezza. secondo te conviene un 750w magari autolimitandolo oppure dirotto l'acquisto verso un kit più docile ( 500W)? grazie di cuore
Ciao Emiliano! Sono d'accordo con te che per un 750W dei freni a V non sono l'ideale. Tuttavia, hai specificato Roma 😄 questo cambia tutta l'equazione!
A memoria, Roma non è sempre pianeggiante e scegliere un 750W potrebbe fare tutta la differenza. Inoltre, la scelta obbligata di batterie a 48V o 52V permetterebbe anche di avere l'autonomia necessaria per le sue grandi distanze.
Certamente io ne ridurrei le prestazioni come mostro nel video di downgrade con il Bafang tool. Nessuna riduzione invece sarebbe necessaria per un motore Tongsheng 👍

Ciao! Innanzitutto grazie per i vari video, mi hanno convinto a montare un 750w e smanettare un po' anche a me. Poi, immagino lo saprai già, ma ti consiglio vivamente di smanettare e testare diverse misure di corone e pignoni, poiché una corona piccola davanti e pignoni grandi dietro fanno una differenza veramente enorme, sia nella fatica che nella qualità della pedalata ma soprattutto nell'usura del motore e della batteria. Sembra una stupidaggine, ma già passare da una corona a 44 denti ad una da 40 permette di fare molto più facilmente le salite e/o di sforzare meno il motore e quindi la batteria. Io attualmente ho una 40 denti davanti (di meno no poiché altrimenti la linea catena sarebbe esageratamente storta) e un pacco pignoni da 11/48 al posteriore. Con questa configurazione riesco a fare agilmente salite sterrate e fuori strada talmente ripide da rischiare di ribaltarmi all'indietro, e visto che peso 130 chili, puoi immaginare quanto gli ingranaggi siano importanti. Insomma, tutto 'sto pippone perché tra i vari video test non ti ho mai sentito nominare corona e pignoni e l'importanza che hanno nell'esperienza complessiva. Spero di essere stato di aiuto, buoni esperimenti! 😊

I would get the 750W, you can always downgrade it in the settings. But in both cases, if you can, take a 48V 15Ah battery
Currently have Y-20 step through with 750w rear hub. 15 ah 48v battery.
Think I have around 70 NM at best.
Great bike and for my use not had battery range issues.
However I live in an extremely hilly area.
The food delivery guys mainly use mid drives.
So I have purchased a bbshd 1000w 48 v mid drive.
Looking forward to the extra torque on hills.
Have to see how it runs once I get it fitted.
Since my current rear hub unit is geared I plan to leave it since I’m told this will freewheel.
In time plan to replace it with a standard wheel but picking up a 20x4.0 is not easy in my location. Yea I can order on line.
I’m hoping to fit an Alfine 8 speed hub so may have to build a wheel.
This will allow me to change down gears when stopped.

I would suggest you not to: the risk of breaking things is very high and, even if you'll succeed, your motor will last way shorter
Search, instead, for 36V batteries with bigger capacity, like 17 or 20Ah

Mi permetto di chiederti un parere, mi serve una bici per andara al lavoro (Alesia --> La Defense, quindi circa 30 km A/R) e pensavo di procurarmi un Tongshen TSDZ2. Ma devo dire che il hubmotor Bafang SWX02 mi fa d'occhio.
Anch'io faccio 1,90M e quindi mi serve un telaio XL :-)
Secondo te, une Btwin Elops 520 puo andare bene ? A Parigi ho provato sia un Shimano mid-drive da 250W (Swapiets) che una hub Bafang (bici Uber) e devo dire che trovo che il hub-motor spinge piu forte nonostance sie meno progressivo e naturale che il Shimano mid-drive.
PS : Anch'io vado ogni tanto in Italia se ti serve qualche servizio postale ;-)

J'adore le vélo que t'as choisi, surtout parce que y a déjà le support pour le porte-bagages arrière.
Tu peux penser à des batteries de ce type du coup, parce que tu aurais besoin de beaucoup d'énergie!
Si tu veux rester dans la légalité, 250W ça va y aller.
Si tu trouves que le moteur de type hub pousse plus fort, je crois que tu aimes plutôt le système de détection de cadence (typique des Bafang à mouvement central et de la plupart des moteurs de type hub): la majorité des moteurs centraux (je ne parle pas des kits d'installation) ont un système de détection de couple (similaire au Tongsheng)
Pour ton trajet il faut bien considérer une batterie de bonne capacité: au moins 36V 15 Ah pour un moteur 250 W; sinon au moins 36V 17 Ah si tu veux un 500W (ou 48V 13 Ah) 💪

Pour le Elops 520, c’est un classique Hollandais donc bien adapté pour les grandes tiges comme nous. La position est idéale. Il a le mérite d’être abordable (

ho qualche dubbio. so che in italia non si potrebbe montare un motore con potenza superiore ai 500 W e che non si potrebbero superare i 26 km/h. ma ho visto che le impostazioni spesso consentono di limitare la velocità massima via software. mettiamo che io importi il limite di 26 m. a quel punto può risultare conveniente e legale disporre di un motore da 500 w da usare in offroad a piena potenza e impostare la limitazione solo quando si va in strade urbane?
Ciao Giorgio, dubbi leciti. Dunque, io faccio questi video per il mercato globale. In America ad esempio 750W è il massimo legale, mente in Svizzera va benissimo 500W se si targa e assicura la bici.
In Italia, anche impostando un limite di 25kmh, il limite legale per le bici è 250W, quindi se si viene fermati per un controllo e si rileva una potenza nominale maggiore, si incorre in sanzioni comunque.
Ciò detto, la responsabilità è di chi guida queste bici sulla strada pubblica, non di chi le assembla
@@LukeLorusso grazie. a questo punto, posto che una volta ho provato una bella ebike trek da 250W che andava benone sarei curioso di sapere cosa andrei a quadagnare avendo un 500W invece del 250W. piu' potenza, ma probabilmente quella che mi da il 250W (magari aumentando il livello di assistenza) sarebbe comunque piu' che sufficiente. Per quanto riguarda i controlli dato che non abito in città e faccio soprattutto sterrati avrei pochi timori di essere fermato

ciao, di salirle le sale. non ci si può aspettare alte velocità se non si pedala.
la velocità dipende soprattutto dalla carica della batteria, dal rapporto utilizzato e da quanto lo si aiuta con le gambe.
io di solito vado di marcia medio-alta (tipo 7 su 9), assistenza quasi massima (4 su 5), accelerazione e pedalata per avere 35kmh. non è affatto faticoso, quindi pedalare non mi pesa e so che facendolo risparmio batteria
@@LukeLorusso chiedevo perché vivo in collina con delle salite bastarde e per nn farmi mancare nulla ho artrite ecc stò valutando il 1000w quando potrò. Ho anche chi mi fa le batterie praticamente a metà prezzo(infatti ho 36v 30ah nel monopattino). Più che altro la cosa che mi ha stranito è che il monopattino da 1000w che ho sale a malapena(5nm),poi vedo il bafang anche da 250w che ha 100nm,sale da solo dappertutto allora? A me nn interessa la velocità,ma il fatto di fare le salite... il mio monopattino nei punti più ripidi sale a 10km forse e mi devo spingere un po con le gambe. Poi essendo una bici(col bafang),pensavo a un mini carrellino(per la spesa),quindi 1000w direi che vanno bene(poi si può regolare pure).

anziché gettare soldi per il 1000w, assicurati una batteria da almeno 48v 17ah 💪

I still dont understand why people are so concerned with how fast these motors go. It's all to do with the bikes gearing, battery size, bike weight and rider weight. A 500w wont be as powerful as a 1kw obviously. As the owner of 2 1kw mid drives and a 750w mid drive, i prefer to get more miles than worry about how fast i can go, because when you start going really fast, your disc brakes have to work harder, and if you are not using ebike rated pads, then you will be wearing your pads out too fast. I can do a 50 kilometer ride usingbmy 750w bike and not move off assist level 3 and only use three cassette gears tp deal with the hills i have on that particular ride. And i only use between 30 or 40% of a 52v battery capacity. And yes i run a 750w motor with a 52v battery, it works great. So what do i mean? If you want to travel fast using an ebike, buy a 1kw 52v kit and if you plan on travelling on mainly flat roads, use a road bike or hybrid with a 52t chain ring and a 7 speed casette. But remember, your run times will be limited as well as your miles.
