Chase customer service is abysmal. They continue to debit for a safety deposit box that was emptied and closed two years ago when the owner died. The estate executor who was also listed on the account requested it be closed; Chase refused the keys, said the box would be drilled and emptied (we told them it was already empty and here are the keys) and they finally agreed to close it since they’re not issuing them anymore. Today I got a letter dated two months ago stating they were debiting for another year’s box rental. They’re stealing from the estate. Horrible excuse for a bank.

Part of this is the woman’s fault. She should have hung up and called the number on the back of her debit card. This is also Chase’s fault. They probably should have made someone available to freeze the customers accounts BEFORE funds were transferred. Another thing, the scammers already had a lot of the customers information (account number, phone number, recent transactions, etc…). How did they get that information? Probably from someone at the bank. How is it that these scammers are hitting these accounts with high balances? How do they know which accounts to hit? The bank/account that the money was wired to was probably a fraudulent account. Banks are supposed to have safeguards to prevent this. It’s called KYC Know Your Customer.

I wonder that too how do they know who has a million dollars sitting in a saving or checking account. I use CDs when I heard about the phone scams. I keep my retirement accounts with a secure financial advisor and his company. You can’t keep every dollar in one account people.

Could be an inside job! One of the employees

I think most of these scams like this are inside jobs. A Chase employee clearly would have access to the lady's card numbers and could easily look up recent purchases.

@@BigfistJP I was thinking the same thing. It's one thing if someone calls you up and doesn't provide any details but this scammer knew a substantial amount of her private information. Definite inside job!

Most of these national big banks do not really care….you are just a number to them…find a credit union or medium size regional banks…they do better than those big banks!

How can you blame a company for something that's not their fault, demand they fix it, and then expect them to care.

Using an excellent money recovery model as

This guy does more to prevent and stop online scammers than the FBI. Not only are you closing the way for scammers, but also educating the public and making them aware. Well done *VAULT GUARD EXPERT*
