"Ive really done a deep dive and put some time into this one." Complains about missing resources when they are literally an inch away on screen. Classic Splatty.
The moment you described the game I knew this was a strategy game I've been missing (I prefer the minimalism and heuristics of go as opposed to the complex ruleset and memorization of chess, for example). When you played it, your stream of conscious play did a very good job of demonstrating the experience. It was what I hoped, I will really be watching this game, thank you.
Isn't it funny how games like this just all of a sudden pop-up unexpectedly and turn out to be a real gem? Never heard of it, didn't expect it, and yet, here it is. Slipped in under the radar.
Tech is something that you need to prioritize if you want to get to the tier 2/ tier 3 techs. Setting up labs early and colonizing worlds to produce redundant copies of the same resource near each other will let you set up very productive labs. The main reason for the tech starving is that the game generally doesn't give you any tech generation for free so you have to go out of your way to make your lightbulbs and doing so often runs counter to what the best setup for just raw economic gains would be. However, techs give you new economic opportunities and/or break the rules of the game (like letting slipways cross each other) which will ultimately let you get even more profitable routes and prosperous-level planets. The 25 year limit isn't a product of it being beta, but rather a design decision that gives you a time limit, making every thing you do (and the time it takes to do that) count. I think there will be modes that let you go longer than 25 in 1.0 but 25 feels like that is the benchmark for a "normal" game.
Love your videos! although gotta say I been yelling "look down to the core for water!" alone in a room for the last 5 minutes. Keep up the great work :D
Let me just stop you right there (10seconds into the video) ANYBODY who takes the time to re-record a video about a game as they gained experience and understand the game better and therefor showcase it more interestingly with a new recording, is a bloody hero and deserves a like (and a thank you). As soon as I am done watching I might just sub too (which I never do after just one video). Now let's see if it's interesting :P
Looks good, like a space colonization puzzle game. Looks simplistic but the kinda game you pick up thinking you will play it for an hour or two and then you've suddenly lost 6-7 hours before you know it
@@dontnormally A lot of folk including me are highly dependent on steam for providing trials or demos. This game reminds more of a board game. Specifically Nova Luna and Sagani. You use tiles to complete goals of other/adjacent tiles. They also use time. No money involved as the board games are much simpler.
looks awesome! very boardgame-like, and I like that. I think such short, snappy but brainy designs are better suited to modern pace of life than having to dump 3k hours into EU4 and get bogged down in repetitive chores and AI barely coping with the complexity.
splat you need to tone down the quality of the content, my wallet is crying. I didn't expect to like this game but I'm really excited for it to be done.
So... my take is basically that these gates are rather more like mass accelerators establishing (safe(?)) highway-like rapid transportation paths in space rather than wormhole -access jumpgates...
The game would be perfect if planets actually orbit a star and not randomly sitting in space rotating around itself. I find this a great idea that would increase game depth.

Classic Splatty.
Splattercat: *Plays slipways*
TH-cam: No you're playing Galactic Civilizations.
Well he did literally put "Galactic Civilization" in the title.
youtube tells me it's stellaris now
also, it's Galactic Civilizations ONE, from 2003.

For anyone wondering, from the developer's twitter: "A public demo of the game is coming to the next Steam Game Festival, February 3rd-9th."
So simple yet so complicated. Lovely strategy and Splooty you did a great job explaining it.

My wallet hurts almost everyday now.... it seems to coincide with splattercat youtube videos.....
For some reason, Splats video convinces me the the most towards buying games. Its been like this for the past 6-8 years
@@arjunnava agreed lol but the funny part is recently I have been really scooping up some games from his reviews.
There's a free version of this game, just play that. It's on itch.io.

A simplified version of this game is on coolmathgames
Came from twitch specifically to say you did a good job! Thank you for the great content!
This game looks really amazing, and surprisingly deep and complicated. I love it Splatt!
When you linked up that water at the end of the video I felt such a sense of relief.
I almost feel like he ignored it until the end on purpose.

This reminds me heavily of starruler 2 economic side. I really want to try this game out.
You had water this whole time on the planet right next to it!
LOL right i was yelling to the screen thinking he could hear me. LOL

42... needs to be able to destroy a planet for building a highway.
That reminds me, I need to return that towel
So long, and thanks for all the fish
@@megateddyboy84 MOSTLY HARMLESS.
That'ed be the Council race with crystal chunks growing out of them, the ones that are about "exploitation'?
I'd love to see more of this!
man...splat you always draining away my gaming budget with these excellent recommendations!
This looks cool. Puzzle, almost board game like in a way. Will have to see about getting it.
Well thats a very interesting game
Not even in early access and I want it already.
You may contact the developers - maybe they will sell you Alpha version of the game.
Maybe they even add you to their Beta-Testers list :-)
I think the pico-8-version should be still around
Awesome vid as always! So glad it's not another freaking roguelite/like again.
You always find the best games
Important note, the total amount of time you get to play fro is 25 years on normal mode, not just a beta thing :)
SO... You are the Architects getting your protomolecule game on. Cool.
My three go to TH-cam gamers are: SplatterCatGaming, Northernlion, and Raptor.
I tend to favor the indie games and rogue likes.
This game looks so cool
X3 Albion Prelude is probably my favorite game to play.
splat you need to tone down the quality of the content, my wallet is crying. I didn't expect to like this game but I'm really excited for it to be done.
Very much like the thought you need to put in Into the Breach. Definitely want to give it a go when it goes live.
Another great game that shows why marker economies are superior to command economies
The time gap between the destruction of sol after starlancer, and the start of freelancer.....is here 😆
Small Version of Stellaris LOVE IT!
Basically.... Sudoku
Nice, I will put it on my wish list.
Really simple game, but.... looks very addictive. lol
This sounds pretty inspired by 40k. Forge worlds, hive worlds, etc
"we are the spaghetti" lmfaooooo
Having a great time with your content! Take care of yourself!
0:24 Man i would have been pleased with the first 2 hours of gameplay.
That Planet Names, lol... Herbert, Asimov, Clarke...
A Rimworld serie would be awesome
Cool game! Thanks Splat!
This is kinna like early Star Wars lore of how they colonized the galaxy
Looks like a great game! Thanks for the video!
A bit like Stardrive 2, just without the space combat.
So, in a clockwise path the species are Science, Military, Industry, Civilian, Trade.
Ill have to keep an eye out for this one. Its Intriguing, but id like to see it more developed.
More of this please
Splatter cat, you had a water-maker below your mining world The Whole tiiiiimmmmmmmeeeeeeeeee

22:52 completely misses the spare water on the planet south
So... my take is basically that these gates are rather more like mass accelerators establishing (safe(?)) highway-like rapid transportation paths in space rather than wormhole -access jumpgates...
Can't wait for that week to pass. Game looks pretty nice!
100% sold. I want this.
This looks interesting. On Wishlist.
a lot of planets are all named after sci-fi authors from all over the world :D
perfect game i wish to play that
How can you upload multiple vids in different games in a daily basis? Im impressed.
Money can be motivating.
Intresting Game but not my sort of game but Thx for Showing it @SplatterCatGaming
Sweet.

My problem with these games is that Space Tyrant basically boils the formula down, keeps the fun, and removes the tedium
Thanks for the suggestion!
its a space solitaire game. very puzzle like sudoku
I remember playing this game when it was still 2d
Very... Very wired galaxy... There something missing... Oh yeah, stars.
If the insect guys optimize your engines by making the pistons all fire at the same time, I won't be asking them to service my car!
At what point do you get the amazing technology of just taking the gate on the other side of the planet to get to the one you need lol?
looks fun
🖤
It hurts me he did not see he had free water on a planet and he keeps looking around..hmmm where can I get water....
Cute game. I'd play it.
Is it me, or are 4x games popping up everywhere?
Im sure as hell not complaining
Which are the good ones?
@@nigl2807 i'd recommend humankind when it comes out, endless space 2 is fun altough combat is... an experience
Resource system is like Star Ruler 2.
Will you cover dyson sphere program? It is a factorio clone with beautiful graphics and interplanetary travel which has entered early access
So YOU'RE the one bringing all this Chaos in here!?
Ah yes, this is galactic civilization
I played the pico version of this game
Races feel like Space Rangers all over again)
Space colony go br
This seems like it'ed make a good mobile game. I mean, obviously not a F-2-P, just a normal game that you buy.
Gonna do a Stoneheart series?
Stonehearth? idk the developers abandoned it and an ACE update is out. If you did mean Stonehearth i think that game is basically old news.
Looks like Solar Settlers.
Have you seen the game falling frontier?
What's this slipways game...it looks a lot like Gal Civ.....wait, this is Gal Civ!!!
I wonder if anyone else picked up on the desert planet being named "Herbert VI"... LoL

you should def Def DEF(INETLY) Start playing and recording Basement again as it now has loads of new stuff
So what’s the in game reason behind traders/transports not jumping through the gates twice in the name of profits?

Kinda like Cosmonautica in Google Play store.
nice
Heyyyyyy!!!!!
So apparently money DOESN'T buy happiness.... also, I really hate it when I have a massive blockage in my galaxy.
Splat have you jumped on the algorithm busting bandwagon? You should. Check out Spiffing Brit.
Is the beta version publicly available somewhere?
I think there’s a bug with the ocean planet, the feature that says algae planet produces food instead
algae is food.
