    I love how the wing bends around 1:33 It’s the point where almost 400 tons of weight is gradually transferred from the wheels to the wings.

      Nah it doesn't work like that when taking off the 400 tons decreases because lift is generated and at rotation there is enough lift equal to the weight of the aircraft

    Heavy take off indeed. You usually barely hear any engines behind the wing seats.
    But in this case, you can clearly hear the engines even from here during take off run. Very powerful take off.

      What are you taking about? The engines are always loud in the seats beside, behind, and sometimes in front of the engines

      @@Bootyavenger I absolutely disagreed.
      Behind the wings maybe louder in some airplanes, but it is not from the sound of the engine. It is mostly from the air flow or from the thrusts. Behind the wing is where the engines sound get muffled the most.
      The seats in front of the engines however, where you can see the fanblades slightly, is the best seat to listen to the CLEAREST engine sound. You are able to hear the crystal clear engine's sound buzzsaw there. (If the plane has it). You'll never hear it from behind the wing.
      You'll NEVER EVER EVER see a video title "Engine roar" video with a view from behind or in the middle of the wings seat. It's always the front of it.
      Try watching some videos like A330 or 757 take off, from in front and behind the wings and compare. Since those have very clear accent. If you don't believe me.

      @@psrpippy What do you mean 31 years? The -8 type is barely over a decade old overall (2010). It came out right after 787-8 (2009).

      @@Odontomango I meant exactly what i said in the comment. I worked on 747’s for 31 years, I flew on them, 100’s, 200’s, 400’s and as a passenger on the 800. What did you think I meant? They were all much louder from doors 2 back and even more so from over wing or doors 3.

    I love this departure on a heavy - up and over the mountain :) The most fun is taking off east towards Oakland and then doing a 270 degree turn towards LA>

    Around 1min 30 as the aircraft begins to rotate you can hear a kind of shuddering noise. I have noticed it on 747's previously. I am sure it's normal, but can someone explain what causes the noise?

    Interestingly enough, Lufthansa never bothered to have 777s, but they had all of the other heavies.

    I thought 747’s were no longer flying. Every day there are 777’s, A380’s, & A350’s, flying over my house enroute to Europe, but I never see 747’s.
    Boeing said they are bringing 747’s back in to service again

      Lufthansa, Korean Air, Air China and Asiana still fly the 747. Because you don’t see them fly over your house doesn’t mean they’re not flying 🙄

      ....Atlas Air, UPS, Polar Air Cargo, KLM, SilkWay, Cargolux, Singapore Airlines, ATC, Cathay Pacific, Kalitta Air.... and many more fly 747.

    The definition of heavy when describing any plane is based on the size of aircraft. Not the fact it took off halfway down the runway!!🙄

      Not sure how they classify them now but it used to be based on the wake turbulence. 757s used to be considered "heavies" because of how ridiculously overpowered they are. I don't think ATC refers to them as heavies anymore.

    They are most likely flying to Frankfurt. They are not very heavy at all. That is only about an 11 hour flight. If they were heavy they would rotated at opposite end of runway. They rotated a little over half way down the runway. Facts matter.

      Nowadays most videos has these nonsense captions on them. Even a regular Cessna 172 takeoff will be labelled as "HEAVY TAKEOFF" for the views and clicks

      It really depends on if you're interpreting heavy as in close to the MTOW or heavy as in a widebody plane.

      Every aircraft with a MTOW of more then 300000 lbs is called „heavy“. Doesn’t matter what the current weight actually is. Also at ATC, 747‘s are called heavy.

      As an ex 747 pilot …. I’d say flying from San Francisco to Frankfurt with appx 100 tonnes of fuel on board, I would say it would be pretty heavy. I can’t think of many aircraft that would be a lot heavier …

      I experienced an actual near miss in real life in which my plane and another plane were both landing on intersecting runways at the same time.

    Believe me, I’ve taken off in 747’s out of SFO more times than I can count and that was not heavy. I flew for BA for 31 years, that was not a long or heavy take off roll.
