I’ve yet to see another hip hop video as innovative as THIS
Out of this world, these are one of the very best of rappers who paved the way for great rappers. Am really speechless, never can't stop loving them. Thanks guys.
Thank you
This is A CLASSIC HIP HOP VIDEO !! Original can’t define it !! Still love this video to this day !!! One of the most underrated groups in this century!!
Listens and behold the bars how the slide over and back and through. But then again the side is never near but always Phar or maybe this is what they wanted us to feel with Thier vibe.

Truly one if the best rap group of all time, the lyrics, knowledgeable, and innovative! " You ain't amphibious, So get a hold of yourself" "Drop"
2022 FAV
One of the best visual videos ever made, I agree with the other comments still fresh today as it was then Pharcyde did not get the credit they deserve
THEY ARE THE TOP OF 90'S HIP HOP

All the 90's teens and grown peeps know this is a video that can't be replicated. I will always be a standout tune and video for me.🖤
1992 in a record store, looked at that beautiful cover, I just had to buy that CD.
Dopest video in my 57 years on this planet 🌎 still bangin after 26 years…
Possibly the best music video ever
have spike jonze to thank for that, mans is an insane surrealist director
they are actually rapping backwards.. is incredible
Still sounds just as fresh as the day it first DROPPED 😉.
Facts!! Very dope and Addicting
They play with words and text, like an afterthought. They don't rap, they do not even talk. They wield words like weapons and it is humbling and forgotten
Man I'm glad I grew up in the 80s and 90s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
how tf does this only have 633,000 views? this is a classic and an inspiration still.
The last year must have people woke to great 90's music, over 2 million!
Nah this track and Video is ultra timeless!! Rip Dilla. What a classic this is…
2024 still gettin high to this album like I did when it came out n I in grade 7
Still watching and loving after all these years, (Great album too) I like it when a cameo appearance is made by the artist being use in the sample,
Im from Belarus. This is near Rusia. I am 32 years old and bought a cassette with rap clips from America on the market when I was 13 years old. I watched this clip 1000 times on a VHS cassette.
That's awesome
Мы с тобой, бро!
Love the actual cameos by the beastie boys on this classic joint 1:21 1:29 and dtla in the 90s was lit. 2:51 and slimkid was 24 years ahead of the mask covering in LA
Top favorite songs by Pharcyde ong. Also am I the only one who hears Plankton screaming "DROP"? No? Just me? Alright then.
Lyrics
Let me freak the funk,
Obsolete is the punk that talk more junk than Sanford sells
I jet propel at a rate that complice their mental state
As I invade their masquerade
They couldn't fade with a clipper blade
10 years in the trade is not enough, you can't cut it
I let you take a swing, and you bunted
For an easy out, I leave mc's with doubt
Of exceeding, my name is Bottie Brown and I'm proceeding, leading,
They try to follow but they're shallow and hollow
I can see right through them like an empty 40 bottle, of O.E.
They have no key, or no clue
To the game at all, now they washed up
Hung out to dry
Standing looking stupid, wondering why
(Why man?)
It was the fame, that they tried to get
Now they walking around talking about represent
And keep it real, but I got to appeal
Cause they existing in a fantasy when holding the steel
Rock a bye baby,
Listen to my heart pumping to a fine ravine
Of all things it's a vain of a shrine
All missions impossible are possible, cause I'm
Heading for a new sector 365 days from now, I'll
Wipe the sweat from my brow
And each and every true will stick, or fall from the sky of my cloud nine
From homies all the way to chics, no matter how fine
Controlling is a swollen way to wreck a proud mind
You hold it in your hands and watch a man start crying
Tear after tear in the puppet man's hands
Every time you take a stance you do the puppet man's dance
And the worlds at a stand-still
Deep in broken mansville, trapped in the moat with an anvil, still
Killing yourself, and dogging ya health
You ain't amphibious, so grab a hold of yourself
Shit is-shit is ill, my flow still will spill
Toxic slick to shock you sick like electrocute
When I execute, acutely over the rhythm
On those that pollute, extra dosages is what I gotta give em
Got em mad and trembling
Cause I been up in my lad assembling
Missiles, to bomb the enemy
Because they envy me, and the making of my mad currency
Currently I think we're in a state of an emergency
Cause niggas done sold their souls, and now their souls is hollow
And I think they can't follow
They can't swallow, the truth because it hurts
This is how I put it down, this is my earth, my turf
The worth of my birth is a billion, and you know what time it is
I'm going to make a million
Complete innovators .. hip hop back in the day was something truly special .. the genius of not only these guys but Tribe, de la , etc was mind blowing ..
Every single line and rhyme in this song is amazing. Not a single line wasted
Honestly best hip hop video i have ever seen.
Spike Jonze was the visionary behind this video. His genius is seen all over videos and movies 🙌
Just saw a behind the scenes video of this and they hired a linguist to transcribe the lyrics backwards and they learned them in a week or two.
Classic don't begin to describe this
Absofukinglootly :)
Omfg I'm getting the chills
You probably heard it millions times but 90s was a great decade for so many things. After 2000 it kinda Dropped.
This is a certified hood classic
Funny how the best groups never got enough attention...

Really sick beat !
I am still impressed with this video in 2023! I love the creativity!!

I wish hiphop was still like this. so fresh so original so creative kudos to dilla up in heaven. and Pharcyde for making such a classic song that will be played for ages to come
Of course this was directed by Spike Jonze -- guy was an absolute genius w his music videos.
Truth. He showed it even more in his movies.
@@cactaceous Yup! 'Being John Malkovich' and 'Adaptation' remain favourites of mine. Genius!
Before Odd Future, we were blessed with Pharcyde
I wish Jdilla would have live a long life. Imagine the beats he would produce till now. rest in paradise
Early hip-hop is one-hundred-percent funkadelic.
I hope these guys are reading these comments.... My ALL TIME Fave. THANKS for setting the Standard but Idk if anybody is assembling like y'all. 🏆
Don’t know why my favorite part is at 2:10 when did throws on the full costume and going up the steps backwards. They filmed this whole thing in reverse and love that the beastie boys made an appearance in this classic.
