I just bought a novation impulse to work with Ableton. None of these instructions have worked for me and I'm pretty confident and experienced setting up new gear. In fact, I've gone from plugging in the keyboard and getting a midi signal to getting nothing at all after following these instructions.
Thanks for the video. I have a very quick question. Do I go for Impulse 49 or Launchkey 49, if I'm looking specifically regarding integration with Ableton Live 10 and 3rd party plugins ? (The build quality differences I'm aware of)
Hi, assuming you are considering Launchkey 49 MK III and have Ableton Live 10.1.15 or later [Which features the integration required for Launchkey MK III] Both keyboards would be a great choice and integrate easily.
so impulse response have nothing to do with Impulse? We can use them in convolution and hybrid reverb as presets... but not something that bares the actual term in the name?
That's right, just a similar name. Impulse is a MIDI keyboard controller, it doesn't have any specific relationship with the impulse responses used in convolution reverbs.
Our Support Team would like to help you with that. Please give them a call or use the 'Live Chat' feature provided on our website here - bit.ly/NovationSupport
You should also do a similar tutorial setup for Studio One cos your instructions on the website are terrible and wrong, you need to set up Mackie Hui (midiin2/midiin3) and a Keyboard (Impulse) to get it to work and even then I cannot get the Keyboard zones to work but I did get master volume working if I mapped it under midi learn fader assign
@@NovationHelp They didn't provide me any support when I asked some questions after buying the Impulse. The video here is great, but the rest of the customer support is weak!
Impulse is purely a controller, for software and hardware and so doesn't make any sounds or have sounds of any kinds installed within it. It would have come with a Bundle Code that can be used to register the product on our website, to access an optional suite of bundled content, such as Ableton Live Lite for macOS and Windows. If you have registered, you should find that you can log in to your account and access this contents. If you need a new Bundle Code, please send us a message on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.
@@NovationHelp I bought this used on eBay and it didn't come with anything or codes but I since downloaded ableton and figured this thing out thanks for trying to help me out though appreciate it have a good one 👍
I'm having so much trouble with this... every time I go to my preferences I don't see a "HUI" option!!! I'm then unable to do pretty much anything past that... please help me!
This is a good walkthrough, but unfortunately not what I was looking for. The annoying thing about this MIDI control in Ableton is that you have to do it manually with every session, there's no way to do it once and have it be saved across sessions... So this is really only beneficial in situations where you're looking to automate only one or a few specific parameters, for specific reasons. It's not a good solution for sandbox time or exploring new sounds.
Hi, we're sorry to hear you are having trouble. If you haven't already you should install automap to configure your impulse and view this video whichs explains how to get started with it. In general, I wouldn't buy this keyboard as it is now dated and antiquated. The main benefit of this controller back in the day when I bought it was the 'automap' feature, which claimed to offer auto-mapped control over all of your plug-ins. They've deprecated this feature and it is no longer supported, so you're left with a regular old MIDI keyboard now with no unique features. @@friedbishop8506

Straight to the point, no BS small talk. This was excellent.
This video has just made my weekend. Thank you so much. Finally got my impulse working fully.

Awesoooome! Thank you so much! Those midi switchers were what I was looking for =))
This worked great, thank you!
Perfect tutorial

automap is not necessary now?
I am wondering the same thing
Is it possible to connect the impulse to fl studio?
I'm not seeing a MIDIOUT output option in my preferences
We're happy to help but need a bit more info. Please reach out via social DMs or to bit.ly/NovationSupport.
Was this resolved? I have the same issue

You have to install it (HUI) separately for both windows and mac. Use this link to learn how to do that th-cam.com/video/dULtiD9A4r0/w-d-xo.html
Got it all figured out. Thanks!
@@dhruvyadav9499 Thank you! Would have struggled to figure out this step otherwise
Did i somehow miss how to control send B?
Holding down shift and pressing the page up button will let you control send A. Doing that for the second time allows you to control send B
