    Learn how to cut the Leonardo DiCaprio style style side part that he wore in the movie “The Great Gatsby.” This is a long 1920’s style side part that is worn very neat and professional that looks great with a nice suit. The top and side need to be longer so they stay back and in place when styled. A cleanly tapered outline or fade outline make this haircut stand out.
    To begin start on the top section. Use the barber shear over fingers techniques to make your first by over directing the hair to the temples. This will leave the front longer and will serve as your beginning guide. Keep your fingers parallel to the floor to make sure you have a square shape. As you repeat this step on the left and right of the center guide this will leave weight in the corners so the hair combs back or brushes back with ease. If you round your fingers when you cut the top the hair will stick out and the style will be out of balance. Next, remove the bulk in the parietal area. Use the same scissor over fingers technique. Start in the back and pull the hair out parallel to the side of the head. Find your top guide and blend to it.
    The first cut will create a guide that you will use a traveling guide to the right front temple. Don not cut past the temple. When you get to the temple the traveling guide becomes a stationary guide. Pull the hair back to the temple and make the final cut leaving the front longer. Repeat this step on the left hand side. Next, cut the sides and back using the clipper over comb barbering technique with a large clipper comb. Due to the thickness and extremely straight texture we used a detachable blade clipper similar to the oster classic 76, Andis BGRC, Andis MVP, Oster Octane, or Andis Supra ZR with a 1 ½ metal blade. This blade is very forgiving and leaves a soft cut. Also, depending on the angle of the blade you can cut and blend at the same time. Start cutting at the bottom with the comb flat on the head and slowly pull away so that you meet your top guide but don’t cut it when you get to the top. This will take the place of using plastic clipper guards on your clipper.
    Next, use an adjustable clipper such as the Andis Envy, Andis Master, Wahl Designer, Wahl Senior, or Oster fast feed in the longest blade setting and use a scooping motion around the outline of the haircut to fade out. Repeat this step with lever adjusted halfway and then the shortest setting scooping the clipper a little bit lower each time to finish the taper. Last, use a t-outliner or trimmer to finish the haircut. Line off the sideburns and the diagonal line behind the ears without cutting into the natural hairline. On the back of the neck use an upward shaving motion without getting too close to the tapered or faded hairline.
    After completing the haircut it is time to texturize the hair. Straight hair that grows forward always wants to fall forward. To solve this problem we use the razor sculpting technique. Comb the hair forward and lightly scrape the straight razor across the hair removing some of the bulk from the underneath layer which would normally push the hair forward. Then work around the parietal area using the straight razor over comb technique to take out more bulk which will allow the hair to comb back and stay back when styled. When the cut is complete style the hair. Make sure the hair is completely dry. Apply the Zorian of New York grooming cream for a medium hold and medium shine that will not weigh the hair down but will hold for the day.

    Man I wished he was my dad. I always have trouble cutting all of my brothers and my own. Best I’ve seen. There is none like this man.

    True master this is the best explained and demonstrated classic slick back Gatsby modern clean cut I have ever heard of seen. I learned so much I not only saved I subscribed and plan to share. GMZ (Greg Master Zorian) please do a tutorial on the classic men's layered off the ears haircut for those 50+ guys who still yearn for the 80's. It would be refreshing since there are many in the southern states that can still sport that look and aren't quite reAdy t give up their hairdryer and awesome styling products. Dandly Yours, Elizabeth

    It's a crown not a cow lick. Cow lick are at the front. The back is the crown

    • @ericaarcas5333
      @ericaarcas5333 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Million Dollar Lex cow licks predominantly happen at the crown. Unfortunately for every everyone, they can happen just about anywhere on the head. I hope this helps you a bit 😉

      Erica Arcas oh I understand hair directional patterns but many videos especially in the states seem to refer to crowns as cow licks and vise versa. Cow lick, napes whirls, widows peak and crowns all seem to be called cow licks lol

    This is not Leonardo’s great gatsbys haircut. In the movie the sides are heavy he has longer hair than this video. This video is just regular cut very misleading
