Fyi to all, Caniks come very tight from the factory. Things to do before the range. 1. Frild strip and clean and lube the slide rails. 2. Rack the slide atleast 20 times. 3. Leave the slide lockef back for a couple of hours. 4. Break your Canik in with 124 for with about 100 rounds. If these steps don't work you firearm needs to go back to Canik. All my Caniks are working perfect. PS im sure they all might not need these steps but this is what i stick to and i own a lot of Caniks.
There are other videos where people have had problems with this gun, or said they were disappointed in the trigger, not up to Canik standards. So, your everyone else running fine line is not total accurate.
I don’t think you ever examined any of the rounds that you ejected after they failed to fire. I shot my new Canik Mete MC9 last Sunday and had about 12 trigger pulls out of 100 that didn’t fire. After ejecting the failed round, I found that the primer had been struck on all of them. Your problem seems to be just like mine, light primer strikes. Mine was never out of battery, just light strikes. Have cleaned throughly twice and used 5 different brands and grain size ammo. FMJ and JHP both had issues. Emailed Canik today and got a response that someone would get back with me. My TP9 Elite SC has been flawless and never had a failure. Hope my Mete MC9 can and will become reliable because I really like it’s looks and trigger feel.
On my latest video I did check them. Some were light primers but most weren't. Canik replaced the recoil spring and polished the feeding ramp and that seemed to solve the issue. I was told it was because I had a pre release version but I am actually getting another one and hoping issues are gone
Just an FYI, I am having the same issue. It randomly fails to go into full battery. Just started having this after 500 plus rounds. Seems like this gun needs a very high tension RECOIL spring. As you break in the recoil spring it gets easy to rack but now you have the occasional miss into full battery. It misses battery ever so slight but enough to cause a light primer strike. Had to stop using as my EDC.
Yea I really hope Canik figures it out with this because I honestly shoot it better than all my other micros but also had to remove it from my idc rotation. Thanks for watching!
So just got back from testing mine. Not gonna lie I was a bit nervous with all the issues I’ve been reading and hearing about on the internet. But mine ran flawlessly. 175 rounds of fmj, Magtech, S&B, Blazer Brass. And 15rounds of 135g+p Critical Duty. No failures whatsoever. Really nice shooting for its size, and probably my new EDC.
MC9 is a great gun but has some battery issues. Mine, brand new had 3 battery failures in 40 rounds. I went home with my head hanging low and wondering if a bought a $400 paperweight. Fear not, You Tube to the rescue! As per a video I found, it cost nothing to remedy and now it works perfectly! Turns out that some of the MC9's were made where the polymer frame rails are slightly higher than the metal guides. Easy to feel and see after taking off the slide. Some very fine sandpaper and 15 minutes later I had the polymer rail top the same height as the metal guides. No new recoil spring, not a penny spent. It now cycles perfectly using the same ammo that I had issues with before. I never had a ftf or fte problem but from what I have seen, some of the ejector have a rough edge that is easily smoothed out. Have fun and stay safe!
Nice! Very different fix from others I've seen. I wonder if there are multiple issues causing the same problem. Glad it worked out for you tho my friend! 👍🏽
Multiple videos document the failure of the slide to go into battery, feed ramp issues 115 grain vs 124 grain cycling issues. Some have stated Canik sent a different recoil spring, users sanded the polymer frame and polished the feed ramp. Canik needs to man up and permanently fix these issues. I was seriously looking at this gun to replace my concealed carry Kahr pm9 . In over 10 years of use, I have never had a failure of any kind with the Kahr. Anyone trusting their life to a gun that malfunctions frequently is in denial. Who has time for multiple range sessions and availability of unlimited ammo to try and fix a defective gun design. Canik ! Prove you are a major player by fixing this issue before you lose the trust of gun owners. It is much cheaper to act now than try to rebuild trust once it has left the building. Everyone on TH-cam is awaiting your response.
Well said! It's been almost a year since the MC9 debut and I went thru quite a bit with Canik to get it the way it should be. Fortunately Canik has addressed the issues and is back on track. I'm a little anxious for the release of the TTI Combat. If that comes out with major issues Canik will lose a lot and they can't afford that
I've had problems with the recoil spring on mine. It ran just fine but after about 400rds the slide doesn't go quite all the way back enough to lock tge slide. Disappointing because i waited a year for canik to hopefully fix any bugs they had.
I took mine to the range for the first time yesterday and I have several light primer strikes with Magtec 124 grain. That’s all I had with me so I couldn’t test other grains. Also got jammed once on the feed ramp. Next time I will try various ammo and polish the feed ramp to see if that helps.
When you get a malfunction it looks like the loaded chamber indicator is up. To me it looks like it's barely not going fully into battery. I wonder if the extractor is getting stopped by the casing and not going around the lip. I would definitely send it back to Canik and see what they say about it.
I put couple hundred through mine ran good but I have notices the bullet does hit the feed ramp and it hits it hard enough that on an FMJ 124gr it will leave a line in the tip of the bullet. you can see it and feel it with your finger your finger nail will get stuck on it. im going to also have to look in to this because I dont want it deforming hollows or my protection rounds. try shooting one round and the eject the next round and look at the tip of the bullet I bet this is happening to you as well not sure on the fix I think the feed ramp needs to be extended
REQUESTING AN UPDATE I had similar issue, called them and they are sending parts… is it possible they figured it out? Have you sent yours in or reached out to them??
After sending it in twice they got it right. They actually issued me a new gun and that one has been flawless. Magazines fly out when ejected and no more failures to feed. Failures to feed was fixed after they sent a new recoil spring and polished the feed ramp. They told me they are well aware of the issues and we're working on getting things squared away. Seems like there have been less and less issues now that it's been out for almost a year. Wish I could say problems have been 100% fixed but can only tell you they know where they screwed up and seem to have been fixing the issues. Hope this helps!
Bought my MC9 mete about a week ago. Before this my EDC is a glock 19 gen 5. In about 2 or 3 thousand rounds I’ve had 1 malfunction. With the Canik I’ve had at least a dozen malfunctions in the first 500 rounds. Oiled it up, polished the feed ramp, kept the slide open… still having the same issues. Once or twice is a coincidence, more than that it becomes a pattern.
The malfunctions shown wasn't a feeding issue the gun was in battery. The gun was feeding fine there was a live round in the chamber the slide was all the way forward, in battery. Either occasion light primer strikes or bad ammo .I didn't see any failure to feed.what ammo did you use
Not sure if it matters but slide was not all the way forward. There was about 1/8 inch from fully forward. Any idea how to fix light primer strikes? Don't think ammo is bad. Out of the 400+ rounds thru it, I've used about 4 or 5 different types of ammo. It happens once almost every magazine
@S.O.G ok it looked like the slide was all the way forward. If the slide doesn't go all the was forward then like you said send it back just email them short clips of your video.
200 rounds and 4 failure to feed. Bullet nose dives under feed ramp. My wife also had an issue where the firing pin didn’t engage when she cocked it and another when she shot the first round. Idk if she limp worsted it cause I didn’t have that issue. I tried sent in a warranty but no response. If it is still doing it at 800 rounds I’m selling it
I'm having the same problems. I sent mine back to Canik to fix the mags not dropping free, it's better but not perfect. Feeds fine but the trigger is not resetting. I'll keep running it for a while, but if the issue doesn't work out I'll RMA back to Canik.
Did you clean and lube the gun after you got it? They come with some pretty thick grease from the factory that could cause jams. Also what ammo are you using? If they are reloads it's probably just the ammo. Lastly, if it's not the above, it sounds like it's the extractor mechanism. Could take it apart and make sure there's no gunk or burrs. Sometimes there are burrs in the extractor mechanism from when the optic mounting holes are milled. You can also try to take the screws out of the mounting holes to see if they are interfering with extractor.
Appreciate the info man! I didn't during my first trip to the range. My second time around I did have it all cleaned and lubed. I hate that we have to check that stuff. Canik should've done that lol but regardless I sent it back to them so hopefully the figure it out
this happened to me the first time i ever went to the range. 124 ran flawless, tried 147 gr and was the only one causing issues. 2nd time around shot straight 115gr zero issues at all ran flawless
I noticed the weapon ran flawlessly when you had strong right handed grip, with you support hand wrapped correctly. Examine your grip before losing confidence in your pistol. I’m hoping to get one next week. Love Canik pistols.
The 2 different grip styles are because I shot it and I also had a friend shoot it. I can't speak on his grip but I can assure you mine isn't the issue lol it's a known issue unfortunately but will have continuous updates!
You are 100% correct that the magazine catch is the culprit for the mags not dropping freely. Here's how I fixed mine. With the slide off, I used a dremmel with a small pointed grinding stone on low speed and trimmed the mag catch a little at a time. I stopped frequently to test function. After 3 or 4 tries the mags all shoot out as they should. I don't think the travel on the release button is long enough to keep the mag catch from causing friction on the mag case. This fix was quick and easy. Should work for you as well.
Looks like light primer strikes. Those failure to fire are not mag related. If you're ejecting a live round it may be hard primers, were there marks on the primers on the rounds that didn't go bang? I could definitely see in the first failure whoever's thumb was riding the slide and almost looked forced
I'm hearing it's a failure to return to battery because the slide doesn't completely return to its forward position. Hard to see in the video. Also, thumb just looks like it was riding the slide due to the angle
Looked like light primer strikes. You pull the trigger and the striker releases. Did the bullets have a light strike on the case? Were both 115 and 124 the same American Sniper brand? I think those are made in Czech Republic, but I’ve heard mixed reviews about hard primers. Maybe check the striker channel to make sure it’s clean and clear, and then see if you have the same issue with softer primer ammo like Federal.
I had a customer service ticket open and they finally agreed to have me send it in. Hopefully they make it right. Between the feeding issues and the mag tightness this is unacceptable.
You seem to be holding the gun with your hand to high up not allowing the slide to complete its process. So when it rocks back after a round goes off make sure that no part of your support hand is touching the slide hindering its complete motion. Just grip a little lower with your support hand.
My magazines are doing the exact same thing as yours. I also bought two new 18 round mags and they're both getting caught up in my MC9 AND my SFX. Since the new 18rnd mags aren't working in either of my guns, I'm hoping this is a magazine issue and not my MC9.
It's a new model. Almost every new model has bugs I almost always wait till it's out awhile. Thanks for sharing your experience. I agree. You shouldn't have to modify your gun to get it to work right.
Yo. Did you figure out the problem with went your mc9 is not running well? Did you reach out to century arms? I was watching a video on YT today and a channel called Eric lambirth was having an issue with being out of battery. Long story short he figured his extractor spring is too tight. He goes into detail about it all in the video. Check it out if your still looking for answers. All the best brother, take care.
FYI: I contacted canik and if you were curious when your firearm was made, then just look at the 1st and 2nd number of your serial number. If for example it was 63, it would be made in 1963.
1rst range sesh cleaned before put 100 rounds through and one failure to feed cleaned and left slide open over night 2nd put another 100 through and it had like 8 failures to feed no lie was shocked.. every one was about 5 rounds in the mag followed by a coupled rounds then another failure to feed… feed ramp had mad copper on it too so if y’all figure it out please let me know
Looks like what I could best see from the video is light primer strikes. Is there any possibility it's the ammo? Also I was told from Canik to run 124 grain or higher through the MC9.
We ran 124 and 115 so I don't think it's the ammo. I'm hearing the issue is that it doesn't return to battery but who knows it's all in the hands of Canik now lol
Bro, I am watching your video and want to confirm the resistance in the mag ejection. I found that it is the mag release button like you pointed out. I haven't experienced the ramp issue though. I only have about 150 rounds through mine.
I just bought a canik mc 9 in fde. I have not shot it yet but my 12 round magazine does the same thing. It's lame how it gets held up and the magazine won't drop properly. Discouraging for sure.
@@S.0.G what’s the solution to that? One of my magazines for my sfx has the same issue. Been lubing up the magazine, mag release part, and ejecting the magazine more than a few dozen times at this point and still no luck
@@case_0223 Others who have had the same issue have said it's a break in thing and there was another person who said it was the magazine flare they had to bend slightly
I have around 400 rounds on my MC9 and experience the same feeding issues. The round in the chamber seems to nose dive when chambered. A great video on a 911 shows the nose dive issue and attributes the malfunction to a week mag spring
i have canik mc9 i have found issue with 12rd mag not feeding spring to tight 15rd mag runs flawless just put ammo in 12rd mag let it sit for a day or 2
I think yours should be good. Only a small number of the early ones that came out had issues. I ended sending mine back to century arms to get fixed. From what I'm hearing it's just a spring that needs to be swapped for a lighter one. Nothing major
@@S.0.G that’s great news. I’m so pumped for this gun. Other than that hiccup I have heard nothing but great things about this gun. I think it’s one the new top dog of the micro compacts ESPECIALLY for the price
Here's what's going on. Your gun is not returning to battery completely when it fails. In other words the slide is not going all the way forward. Then when you pull the trigger it snaps forward into battery, drops the striker, but not fire the round. You can see it really well at minute 7.42. watch the rear corner of the slide. It lines up on all shots, but on that last one it's about 1/8 inch back. Then snaps forward when you pull the trigger. Mine does the same thing and is not getting better after 200rds. I'm probably going to see what canik has to say. Maybe others have had this and there's a fix already (recall). Good luck. Barry
@@S.0.G yea, I messaged them too right after writing this. I referenced your video. It almost seems like the spring in the chamber indicator is too strong. That's the very last step when going into battery. If you cycle it in slow motion with a small cap, it wanted to hang up right at that point. We'll see I guess.
Muzzle discipline is a tad suspect, doesn't matter if there is a malfuction, the rules are there for a reason. As for the pistol, I am not sure how much time you spent dry firing before you went to the range. But I usually get a new pistol in and get a few hundred reps in of dry fire alone, I usually then clean and lube it before heading off to the range. I attribute this to why I don't think I've ever had an issue with a pistol besides one failure to go into battery with my PDP in the first 30 rounds (about 900-1000rds since without issue and the number of dry fire reps...countless). I even have a slide that I got in last month for a P365 build I was working on, and as soon as I got the internals installed I just started manipulating the shit out of the slide. I cleaned it a few times, and eventually took it to the range a few days later for the first 100rds which went by without a single problem. Went back to the range a couple days later and put another 500 rounds through the slide, and not a single issue again. Maybe I'm lucky, and maybe my regimine of dry firing like mad for a couple days, cleaning, and then taking it to the range really does help (I've heard other people say it does). Either way I hope you figure out the problem. It's a cheap gun so it's not as frustrating as if it were a 1000 dollar gun, but it's still gotta be annoying to have something you were excited for shit the bed.
Yea 2 different shooters in the video, myself and a friend. Give me an example of the muzzle discipline you mentioned? And yea whether it's $400 or $1000 money is money lol I was definitely disappointed with it. I had high hopes mainly because all the caniks i had always ran flawlessly. I've never dry fired them much. I heard that wasn't good to do. Also never lubed a new gun or had to "break it in" so this is a learning curve I guess lol
@@S.0.G - At the 5:17 mark, you pointed the weapon up and to the left. If you had discharged a round in that moment, it could have ricocheted off the wall or ceiling and injured someone. You didn't clear the stoppage before pointing the weapon all over the place!
That’s exactly what I do with my pistols and have never had an issue. I also lock the slide back on Caniks for a few days. 150 rounds and no issues with fmj or hollow points of various weights with my MC9.
Idk man, this MC9 model has a lot of lemons. Mine seemed to malfunction with out of battery a lot, no matter whos hands they were in. I am trying to do things to it tbh. I've cleaned the MC9 such as recommended in the manual, polished the feed ramp and rail in the inside of the slide, changed out the recoil spring, sanded down some areas, and still issues. Now, I am going to install a new striker spring and trim down the ejector spring. I was thinking on making a trade at a gun store, but through YT videos, they will most likely turn down the gun for everything I've done to it. Now I'm just trying to fix it
Yea I don't remember ever having to do this with any gun. But everyone kept telling me that was the case. So I ran 400+ rounds so far and still getting the same issue
@@waterhead1359 Happened with 124 sniper and 115 blazer. I'm lucky if I get thru a mag without issues. Idk what it is but using the same ammo in my 43x wasn't an issue
Hey brother I got this gun and found out very quickly she only like some ammo it has to b long cuz it's a gun made in turkey so they u mostly 124 gr NATO rounds. I can tell u from experience it will not take SIG v crown 115gr or 90gr g9s to short they get caught on feed ramp I do run. 115gr ball ammo at the rang js fine and I use 124 hordy hollow for self defense hope this helps bro keep on shooting
What's up S.O.G.?! Just FYI, CANIK is wanting me to send this SC of mine in to them so they can have a look at it. Will post back to your fantastic channel here and let you know what they find. I did the same that you did. Went and bought me a 43X to use as my EDC, and after taking it to the range I quickly realized.......this thing performs as it should but it is "surely" not a CANIK. Be well my brother. -Tom
Hey what's going on brother! I appreciate the kind words and hope they take care of you and your SC! I just got my MC9 back recently and should have an update video I'm hoping by tomorrow. Let me know how it goes with that SC!
I am about to trim down the extractor myself. What did you use to cut the coil? I dissambled the extractor assembly but the coil is so tiny that I'm wondering if bolt cutters would still work. Also, what length did you cut off? Was it half of it? I was thinking of trimming down 2mm of the coil. Please let me know
You can't just break it in when the rounds are nose diving into the bottom of the feed ramp. Mine did it also. Mine is ammo sensitive. I polished the magazine and now pops out way better. Maybe some passes of 2000/3000 grit sandpaper on the rails in the inside of the grip. Careful not to sand too much or too long. Just to slightly smooth them out.
I am a long time Canik fan and have a TP9 SFX and a Mete SFT Pro that are amazing guns that run flawlessly. On 10/01/2024 I bought an MC9 (the bronze and black version) and it will not run right from day one. About 100+ rounds through it. It would not go into battery at least once or twice per mag shooting S&B 124 grain FMJ and Magtech 124 gr. FMJ. I then watched many TH-cam videos and did all the mods. I cut a tiny bit off of my recoil spring (that works for some of the MC9's) and now it is worse. It will not go fully into battery every time now only when cocked. That tells me the striker spring is too strong because, if the striker is not cocked, the recoil spring holds the slide into battery like it should, but cock it and the slide comes back a little and it takes very little force for the slide to come back a bit because the striker spring is pushing the other way on the slide. I have sent an email to Canik and I am also buying the lighter striker spring from Sprinco. Hopefully Canik/Century will do the right thing and send me the light springed version of the recoil system. I'm confident that the issue with mine is the overly strong striker spring. Another issue I had was the mag release button was hard as hell to depress. I fixed that by taking the button out, polishing the sides, and taking some of the metal off of the retention tab and polishing it. I also removed the button spring and squeezed it together with pliers to weaken it and now I can easily push the button in and the mags drop out easily. Now if I could just get my slide release to disengage more easily. It is very, very hard to pull that release down with my thumb. Sometimes I have to use both thumbs!
When the elite sc came out, I bought one and had so many failure to feeds. I returned it after people tried to tell me that it was me. I hate when people do that. I'm damn near 54, I've been shooting for what feels like 100 years. But, you say it's only with the short mag? I thought I noticed that while watching you shoot. If that's the case, maybe take that mag apart and clean it out real well. I hope you get it figured out.
Yea it's frustrating when people immediately blame it on you but i also tried that. I read someone else had to physically bend the mag flare to make it work
So, within the last month I've purchased two guns - a glock 42 and the elite SC. Both of these guns have been out for quite a while now... And despite having read various things about ammo issues with both guns, I've had them out to the range quite a few times, and haven't had any issues at all. I wonder if guns, like cars, tech, etc. are starting to suffer from the concept of " Gen 1 issues"...Meaning, it's almost like companies put out products expecting Gen 1 users to do beta testing on them....vs. spending tons of time in R&D ensuring quality control. Even companies that historically have had the best R&D like Apple have put out sketchy stuff/advancements, simply to get it out to the masses (knowing the quality may not be up to standards). This said, I 100% agree when you say, "there should NOT be a break-in period". And to take that a step further, this is a CCW firearm.... a gun that potentially is going to be carried everyday needs to be reliable from the moment you unbox it. Hopefully you'll get yours worked out with Canik. I've been super impressed with the SC I purchased, and hope this MC9 turns out to be just as good. Thanks for the honest review. It's never easy to put this stuff out there, but super appreciated in this world full of vids that are biased due to incentives.... side note: at the 5:14, I bet the issue was racking. looks like you held it for a split second. I've learned to not baby rack at all. really fling that sucker forward...
If you bought a brand new car would you run the engine full bore without breaking it in? It is a metal machine rubbing metal parts together. A gun is a machine too! It is metal rubbing against metal. Guns DO have break in periods, let's not spread false information. If the gun is machined and polished good enough, YOU might not be able to tell the difference but that does not mean it is not there. Besides training and practicing with anything is not a bad idea, ESPECIALLY when it is a gun.
I have a canik and I don’t have any problems with mines but that why I carry my g19 and my m&p shield plus and sig p365 with no issue. My canik runs flawlessly after 2000 round test so it is my carry rotation.
Some are blaming your grip. Some are blaming the gun. Some are blaming the magazines. Some are blaming the ammo. All that said, this never happens to me with my Glocks, my EDC S&W Shield Plus, my Springfield Hellcat Pro...well, you get the idea. Just sayin'...
I had the exact same issue with my CZ P07. Turns out it was a piece of foam from the original packaging that had found its way to the magazine. Next time it happens tap (don’t rack) and see if it goes into battery. If that happens pop the baseplate out and clean the magazine spring and see if it gets fixed. I guess you may wanna just open up that mag now and see if there is any debris in it before you go to the range; you don't have to waste ammo to face the same issue...
Guns need a break in period and clips as well 12 round mag load 10 break in the clip and clean the feed ramp and get a better grip on it when u shoot your thumb could be holding back the slide and also run 124 grain 200 rounds to break in the barrel
Most of what I've seen has been people having issues with the 12-round magazine, which I noticed myself in that it is much more difficult to load to full than the 15 round. However, mine has run 50 rounds through both magazines so far with zero malfunctions.
Just picked mine up, I’ll be testing it Monday. I’ll let you know how it runs with a wide variety of ammo. If it doesn’t run well I’m getting the Masada Slim.
Evertime i see a new gun with issues there's always the army of staunch Defenders that will refuse, under all circumstances, to accept that there are problems. Then you always have the typical limp wristing Army that blame every issue on limp wristing including gun blows up LOL
What I do just a recommendation buy 13 rds of dummy ammo (I have orange dummy rounds) top it off with that and release the mag over and over while watching a show or two the mag will get easier then dry fire with dummy rounds it helps
@@S.0.G just an update I went to the range today with the mc9 first time ran 30 rds defensive ammo ran fine 170 target ammo white box Winchester only one file to fire and 3 no slide open on last round I think that was my fault I have a high grip I say it’s a win so far I hope you get yours fixed
@@mbison632 Thanks for the update! Yea I just dropped it off to my lgs and they're sending it out to Canik. Updates videos will be posted as soon as I get it back!
Bro, I had the same problem. I was so excited to shoot it today but ended up disappointed as heck.I shot 250rds and didn't get a complete mag empty without a malfunction 😢. But i have 3 other caniks that ran flawless
That sucks man. I remember being really nervous about the new build I just finished for my P365 carry setup. I took a leap of faith on the slide and barrel manufacturer, and luckily it's been through over 500 rounds without so much as a hiccup.
I want it to work so bad that I'm going back to the range in a couple hours and try another 100rds. I never had to break in my other caniks. They ran like water straight out the box with a light coat of lube only
Yours isn't jamming nearly as bad as mine. It won't even feed entirely. The round gets half way in and the next round in the magazine comes up and jams the round going into the chamber. Accurate gun though.
Just tested mine today and I'm having exactly the same problems. I'm going to contact Canik and probably send it back. Not happy, you can't tell me they didn't know. One thing I noticed is that I don't have a problem when I shoot it, but my wife does and it's happening a lot to her. I don't care if she's not holding it as tight as me or whatever. Something is wrong with this gun. She has no issues with the Sheild, P365 and a number of other guns.
Exactly! You should not have to have a perfect grip on a self-defense gun for it to work properly. You might be in a situation where you are unable to have a tight grip.
Was having the same exact issues. With the same mag. I’ve put about 500 rounds in mine now. At about 250 I was at the range and having the issues and the guy at the range took my mag and said it was the flare at the top of the mag that was causing the rounds to feed weird. He said he pulled the flare a tiny bit and I haven’t had an issue since. I’ve even ran my hollow points and they feed just fine now. I definitely don’t think it’s a break in thing it’s definitely a mag issue.
Hey finally we have an answer. May I know what part of the mag that your guy made an adjustment. I have same problems with you too, hopefuly I can fix it myself, keep the gun and no need to return it to the dealer.
Top of the 12 round mag. There are two fins the hold the rounds in. He pulled them back a tiny bit. When I say “tiny” I mean tiny bit! That’s what he said he did and I believe him because I haven’t had an issue since. Pay attention to your mags compare them to see if you can see the difference.
The camera angle makes it impossible to even guess what's going on. It looked like the action was completely closed when it failed to fire but, again, it's impossible to say why it seemed to malfunction. I have a new MC9 and so far it's been perfect.
It’s a new platform that just came out. Every other micro 9 had quirks when they were first released that’s why I always wait a year before I jump into something brand new
Wow S.O.G...you care about the same level of detail that I do when it comes to CANIK weapons. There are certain nuances about every CANIK that we as customers have come to expect such as the magazine ejection. I have come to expect that mag to come flying out upon ejection just has you have. Man, I have never seen better mag eject functionality than that of my Rival Dark Side. Or for that matter any of my other CANIK's either. Stuff like that really matters to me. On another front, I am experiencing the same ramp stoppage issue that you are having with your new MC9 on my TP9 Elite SC. i have tried just about everything to no avail. I have tried many, many different ammo brands and types including of course defense ammo, have tried brand new magazines with no luck. Even had CANIK send me a new "low pressure recoil spring and rod assembly but still have not fixed it. In taking a magnified look at the bottom edge of the feed ramp, I do see some "bluntness" to it where it would seem to me that for proper operation, that bottom edge of the feed ramp should be honed to a bit sharper finish as compared to slightly blunted edge that I observed on my SC. Anyway, thanks very much for the amazing video on the MC9. Just thought that I share the experience that I am currently having with my SC. I let you know how I get it resolved. - Tom
Pressure on the slide catch while shooting can cause this issue. Not saying that's your issue as the view doesn't allow one to be sure but it's an option to explore.
UPDATED VIDEO HERE: th-cam.com/video/a7AqeW5gy6o/w-d-xo.html
Fyi to all, Caniks come very tight from the factory. Things to do before the range. 1. Frild strip and clean and lube the slide rails. 2. Rack the slide atleast 20 times. 3. Leave the slide lockef back for a couple of hours. 4. Break your Canik in with 124 for with about 100 rounds. If these steps don't work you firearm needs to go back to Canik. All my Caniks are working perfect. PS im sure they all might not need these steps but this is what i stick to and i own a lot of Caniks.
Noticed in beginning you had your thumb on the slide. At the 5:15 mark
Yea he's got a weird way of shooting lol
Honestly seeing how everyone else's seem to be running fine in other videos, I would just contact century Arms
Yea that's the next step here unfortunately
@@S.0.G first gen problems. Happens to almost every firearm manufacturer, there will always be a small percentage of lemons with the same issue.
There are other videos where people have had problems with this gun, or said they were disappointed in the trigger, not up to Canik standards. So, your everyone else running fine line is not total accurate.
Actually No. There are others have problems as well. Your incorrect.

I would contact century arms. They will fix it for you for free!
Glad to hear all went well! I agree, probably the the best edc out right now
@@S.0.G For the features, everything that comes with it, the overall package and price, yea I think it might be.
Cow bizzle, does your 12 round magazine drop freely? Or does it get hung up?
@@brianholton4460 It drops freely, even turned sideways it flys out.
That's exactly what it is. I sent it out about 2 weeks ago still haven't heard much from them
I put couple hundred through mine ran good but I have notices the bullet does hit the feed ramp and it hits it hard enough that on an FMJ 124gr it will leave a line in the tip of the bullet. you can see it and feel it with your finger your finger nail will get stuck on it. im going to also have to look in to this because I dont want it deforming hollows or my protection rounds. try shooting one round and the eject the next round and look at the tip of the bullet I bet this is happening to you as well not sure on the fix I think the feed ramp needs to be extended
💯
REQUESTING AN UPDATE
I had similar issue, called them and they are sending parts… is it possible they figured it out?

@@S.0.G same issues. Failure to feed and out of battery.
I'm having the same problems. I sent mine back to Canik to fix the mags not dropping free, it's better but not perfect. Feeds fine but the trigger is not resetting. I'll keep running it for a while, but if the issue doesn't work out I'll RMA back to Canik.
Great to hear. I’ll wait and see what Canik tells me to do. Thanks
Recently bought one, had 4 failure to feed malfunctions in 200 rounds.
I was gonna say the sa.e thing. I've never seen someone use a grip like that. You can't limp wrist a micro compact pistol.
Im a pretty decent shooter. I just got my MC9 today and experienced the same issue if not worse. It's not a shooter error its a meCANIKal error.
Bruh is the gun not his grip.
His grip was not right and he needed to insert that magazine with authority and rack that shit not be gentle with it.
Not user error. I am having the same problem.
How is it now did they
Successfully fix it ?
I'm on my 3rd one! Lol actually got a video on the process of it all coming out tomorrow!
Yea striker releases but slide is stuck about 1/8 inch from fully coming back. 124 was sniper ammo 115 was blazer
I had a customer service ticket open and they finally agreed to have me send it in. Hopefully they make it right. Between the feeding issues and the mag tightness this is unacceptable.
💯
You seem to be holding the gun with your hand to high up not allowing the slide to complete its process. So when it rocks back after a round goes off make sure that no part of your support hand is touching the slide hindering its complete motion. Just grip a little lower with your support hand.
Just an observation, it looked like your left index finger may have been riding the side when you had one of your malfunctions?
Yea my friend has an unorthodox way of gripping the gun lol but even when I shot it, it would jam
@@S.0.G ah, I'm a big fan of Canik as well, sorry you got a lemon

My magazines are doing the exact same thing as yours. I also bought two new 18 round mags and they're both getting caught up in my MC9 AND my SFX. Since the new 18rnd mags aren't working in either of my guns, I'm hoping this is a magazine issue and not my MC9.
I hope so!
I made the feeding ramp more shallow on my MC9, after dad I had probably shoot more than 3000 rounds with zero issues.

I just bought a canik mc 9 in fde. I have not shot it yet but my 12 round magazine does the same thing. It's lame how it gets held up and the magazine won't drop properly. Discouraging for sure.

Good luck. Barry
Exactly! Ive messaged Canik on this and still awaiting their answer
Yup... I'm having this same issue.

Now I'm just trying to fix it
With a new Stryker fired pistol shouldn't need a brake in period. At times depending on the magazine it might need a couple rounds through it .
Yea I don't remember ever having to do this with any gun. But everyone kept telling me that was the case. So I ran 400+ rounds so far and still getting the same issue

Polish the feed ramp. Cut 1 /2 of the coil on thr extractor. .
🫡💯
💯
You did a great job on this review, brotha... thanks for keeping it real!
Appreciate the feedback man! 🙏🏽
Question when you have the slide locked back is your barrel extremely wiggly? My glock3 has some wiggle but NOT NEARLY as bad as the mc9
Yes it was! Wonder that has anything to do with the ammo nose dipping into the feeding ramp
@@S.0.G that’s what my thought was
When the elite sc came out, I bought one and had so many failure to feeds.
I appreciate it! The SC in my opinion is the best Canik out there. Thanks for watching 💪🏽
Besides training and practicing with anything is not a bad idea, ESPECIALLY when it is a gun.
you might want to try 115 Grain? just a thought
Shot both 115 and 124
I had the same issue for the first few mags yesterday at the range. It smoothed itself out after that.
Lucky you lol I put 400+ rounds and it didn't get better. Glad it did for you tho!
🫡💯
I had the exact same issue with my CZ P07. Turns out it was a piece of foam from the original packaging that had found its way to the magazine. Next time it happens tap (don’t rack) and see if it goes into battery. If that happens pop the baseplate out and clean the magazine spring and see if it gets fixed. I guess you may wanna just open up that mag now and see if there is any debris in it before you go to the range; you don't have to waste ammo to face the same issue...
💯
I know the P07 and MC9 have a fair size difference, but seeming how you've had a P07, would you recommend it for EDC?
@@theflair3314 P07 is way too big to concealed carry comfortably…
Guns need a break in period and clips as well 12 round mag load 10 break in the clip and clean the feed ramp and get a better grip on it when u shoot your thumb could be holding back the slide and also run 124 grain 200 rounds to break in the barrel
Most of what I've seen has been people having issues with the 12-round magazine, which I noticed myself in that it is much more difficult to load to full than the 15 round. However, mine has run 50 rounds through both magazines so far with zero malfunctions.
That's good to hear!
Very possible that its the projectile in the 9mm may be too long on some of shells. Use quality ammo.
What's "quality" ammo to you? Because I've used American sniper, blazer and Winchester
@@S.0.GI use Fedaral American Eagle when I'm having problems. Sounds like you have a gun problem though.
It’s the way ur shooting it for me 😂😂
Negative. Same grip on every gun I shoot. It's the only one this happens to. Also, 2 people shooting in the video. Myself and my friend
Same problem with mine! Im sending it back.
@@Ns17105
That's what I did until they got it right!
From what I heard specifically the 12 rd mag acts a bit weird
Hopefully this means they just mail us a free 12rd mag
Just picked mine up, I’ll be testing it Monday. I’ll let you know how it runs with a wide variety of ammo. If it doesn’t run well I’m getting the Masada Slim.
Let us know how it goes!
Evertime i see a new gun with issues there's always the army of staunch Defenders that will refuse, under all circumstances, to accept that there are problems. Then you always have the typical limp wristing Army that blame every issue on limp wristing including gun blows up LOL
Send it in if it isn’t working right after 300 rounds I doubt it’ll work itself out.
Thinking the same
NEVER, EVER have I seen that kind of " index finger forward" grip. Seems like that caused alot of the issue
Hopefully you also saw the "correct" grip and STILL had issues?
Damn. Stay with it.
I'm trying lol
Thanks for the info. I'm getting mines next week, I hope moves don't have problems
I hope you don't man! It's an amazing gun when it works
Shadow arms require a break in due to tight tolerances.
💯
No gun should have a break in period. If it does it's not a reliable gun and has issues.
What I do just a recommendation buy 13 rds of dummy ammo (I have orange dummy rounds) top it off with that and release the mag over and over while watching a show or two the mag will get easier then dry fire with dummy rounds it helps
💯
@@S.0.G just an update I went to the range today with the mc9 first time ran 30 rds defensive ammo ran fine 170 target ammo white box Winchester only one file to fire and 3 no slide open on last round I think that was my fault I have a high grip I say it’s a win so far I hope you get yours fixed
@@mbison632
Thanks for the update!
Yup same here. Very disappointed in this mc9 I'm not sure where they messed up but I hope they own up it and get it right
That sucks man.
They ran like water straight out the box with a light coat of lube only
@@damonjones5597
That's exactly how I felt! Hopefully yours ends up working
Same experience with mine. Probably 2 out of every 3 rounds did this, and I put a little over 200 through it with no change at all.
Yours isn't jamming nearly as bad as mine. It won't even feed entirely. The round gets half way in and the next round in the magazine comes up and jams the round going into the chamber. Accurate gun though.
Contact Century Arms. They'll send you a new recoil spring. That fixed my issue 👍🏽
Yea man it's definitely a sensitive gun. But I get a good firm grip and still have issues. Mine just got dropped off today
@@S.0.G What did Canik say about it?
@@warmonger1389
Canik never replied to my email so I had my lgs get a hold of them and they told me to bring it to them so they can ship it to Canik
Exactly! You should not have to have a perfect grip on a self-defense gun for it to work properly. You might be in a situation where you are unable to have a tight grip.
Check out Hammer Striker, he had issues with his 12 round magazine
💯
I would send it back to Canik. Mine has no issues from the first
Glad yours is working great!
💯
Hey finally we have an answer. May I know what part of the mag that your guy made an adjustment. I have same problems with you too, hopefuly I can fix it myself, keep the gun and no need to return it to the dealer.
Top of the 12 round mag. There are two fins the hold the rounds in. He pulled them back a tiny bit. When I say “tiny” I mean tiny bit! That’s what he said he did and I believe him because I haven’t had an issue since. Pay attention to your mags compare them to see if you can see the difference.
Call Canik, send it back in. Several other people have problems with the 12 rd. mag.
💯
I fixed my out of battery issue by cutting off 1 1/2 of the coil of the extractor spring
...Even fixed the rental Mc9 at my gun range
Nice!! I sent mine back about 3 weeks ago why couldn't you figure it out sooner man?! 😂 jk thanks for the info
My personal experience with Caniks is that they are picky with the ammo. Preferable good quality 124 or 147 grain.
💯
The camera angle makes it impossible to even guess what's going on. It looked like the action was completely closed when it failed to fire but, again, it's impossible to say why it seemed to malfunction. I have a new MC9 and so far it's been perfect.
Glad to hear yours is working!
It’s a new platform that just came out. Every other micro 9 had quirks when they were first released that’s why I always wait a year before I jump into something brand new
💯
Mine did the same thing brand new
Wow S.O.G...you care about the same level of detail that I do when it comes to CANIK weapons.
- Tom
I appreciate it brother! Hopefully we can get it all figured out 💪🏽
I have one and it feeds great except for the Underwood 9mm extreme defender.
It will not feed.
Glad you got a good one! Mine is currently with century arms lol
@@S.0.G Thanks, but I dont feel like it is a good one seeing how Underwood is my main defense ammo.
@@tommysalami5016
Yea that's not good. What grain are you using? I heard the MC9 is picky with lighter ammo because it's NATO rated
Pressure on the slide catch while shooting can cause this issue. Not saying that's your issue as the view doesn't allow one to be sure but it's an option to explore.
Appreciate it!
break in is normal. feeding ramp just needs to be polished by some brass
After 400+ rounds I decided to send it in lol
