I think this is a bitter sweet book about learning the hard way and then finding real love. I actually really relate to Ally. You want so bad to be with someone that you ignore their faults and deny yourself what you know deep down you deserve! She was young when she met Sean and still very vulnerable. We don’t know whats good for us much less know ourselves yet in our early 20s. When you discover the truth it does take you time to let go of the attachment and familiarity of someone but she had a good head on her shoulders bc once she saw just how far he’d go she started slowly loosing those old feelings and wises up. For many of us unfortunately we have to learn the hard way first! A little over dramatic at parts but an over all good book!

Brilliant genre to me, Ally has her development years as an adult invested in egotistic, narcissistic control freak Sean. Who, took bit by bit-over 5yrs of Ally’s self esteem away from her. Lord’s over her that HIS career not hers is important for their livelihoods then chooses to “jilted her” as she entrance to the Chapel, 200 sets of eyes observing her humiliation. Leaves no explanation other than a text, Career move. Then she meets Ethan, who loved her from afar 10yrs earlier in daydreams. Ethan skeptical at 1st because not really knowing her allegiances to their town, thereby cautiously trust her. Read all the “comments” & disappointed criticisms. People just don’t listen, very little scope. Failed Marriages in high percentile & this tale certainly answers “WHY” some absolutely demonstrates the many that do fail.

I guess I didn't like how she was so easily used by the scum ex-fiance. How could they have been together for 5 years and she not see him clearly more quickly? She definitely was victimized. I feel sorry for her.

I agree with your reaction to Allie and her ex, but I also wanted to show that when you've been in a 7-year serious relationship, it sometimes isn't that easy to let your feelings go so quickly, even when they badly hurt you. You might miss them, and there's a hole left in your heart and your life. You're also grieving the loss of all your life plans with them and the future that is now gone so abruptly. You might even still love them a little bit, even while hating them at the same time! This young woman needs to grow up. She obviously didn’t see what was right in front of her regarding her so called fiancé. She treats her mother like crap. I understand her initial alarm at someone coming into the house, once she knew the story, it was time to grow up and act like a grown woman.

Oooh she's not very bright. No critical thinking skills. I was enjoying it up until the bath scene but she's not very likeable. I'll stick with it for a while longer to see if her character improves. I guess I didn't like how she was so easily used by the scum ex-fiance. How could they have been together for 5 years and she not see him clearly more quickly? She definitely was victimized. I feel sorry for her.

Ali is so weak where her ex is concern. I would have hated him at the very moment he put his work before her. I don't get how she still have feelings for him.
I agree with your reaction to Allie and her ex, but I also wanted to show that when you've been in a 7-year serious relationship, it sometimes isn't that easy to let your feelings go so quickly, even when they badly hurt you. You might miss them, and there's a hole left in your heart and your life. You're also grieving the loss of all your life plans with them and the future that is now gone so abruptly. You might even still love them a little bit, even while hating them at the same time! Oooh she's not very bright. No critical thinking skills. I was enjoying it up until the bath scene but she's not very likeable. I'll stick with it for a while longer to see if her character improves. A bit of redemption needed! Ben /Ethan seems to have a nice sense of humour so I'll listen in hope. 🤞
