Algeria before Islam was not really a Christian land. Christianity penetrated some parts of the north of the country during the time of the Romans ; and disappeared with the fall of the Roman Empire in Africa. There is almost no trace of Christianity in Algerian culture, nor in the myths or legends of this people. The little that we find is not more than the number of myths and legends of paganism. I can say that before Islam, Algerians were paganists. Among the traces of Christianity that remain is the fact that Algerians pay great attention to bread. When they find a piece of bread on the ground, they pick it up from the ground, kiss it and pass it over the forehead. finally they put it away from passers-by. Among the traces of paganism: when Algerian children lose a tooth, they throw it in the direction of the sun, saying: "O sun! Take the donkey's tooth and give me a gazelle's tooth."
