I used to think Shanahan was limited by his qbs,but now I know it's his playcalling in big games. He needs a better qb to put him over the top and overcome his prep in the SB. Jimmy G and Purdy are guys who won't accept a big hit to make the accurate pass . This sounds crazy but a couple of names i think would get the 49ers over the top are Fields, Minshew, and Russ. 1st, the SF offense is qb friendly, and all 3 would improve their career comp percentage. 2nd, all 3 are fearless and would take the big hit to complete a big pass. And 3rd for Fields and kind of Russ. Shanahans offense with CMC is so good that when no one is open, getting a new set of downs from a scramble giving Kyle a chance to reset his playcalling on drives would be killer to defenses. Just imagine someone like Queen under DeMeco Ryans who can bring him up to a whole different tier. I think he is only 26 and entering his prime, use that 23rd overall pick on a DT, and resign DE Jonathan Greenard and complete that front 7 with an elite squad this way.
