If we want to stay lore accurate for Alioth, we keep him the way he is, except one thing. It feels bad when they reveal first and destroy all your cards. Wouldn’t your so called “superheroes” at least go out with a fight? Trigger their on reveal effects, etc? That might be a little more balanced in my opinion. I get for some cards that makes no difference, but it would help in some situations. Even for Galactus Alioth it would help. Your Shang-chi at least reveals and destroys Death or whatever.
I agree with your opinions on Alioth. Truth be told I'm amazed the ability even got the green light in the first place because the whole issue people had with other hated cards in the past is that they place massive restrictions on the ability to play, and Alioth does exactly that. It really makes it look like they haven't learned anything at all. If they're set on keeping his ability, he should have much lower power, but I think it'd be better to change him. My real issue is that while he's frustrating on ladder, he's absolutely CRIPPLING in conquest. I say this as a player who has only recently started playing conquest this month, and it's a huge buzzkill when I keep losing to an Alioth pretty much regardless of what deck I'm playing. I might as well just wait until the end of the season and let my tickets convert to boosters for all the good it does me actually using them. I can respect people pulling off like Galactus plays or smart Aero plays etc, but Alioth is just kinda lazy. Which really sucks because I think the card looks awesome, but it feels dirty playing him. Like if I'm gonna beat someone, I want to beat them in a fair fight; similarly, if I lose, I want it to be because I was outplayed, not because my opponent straight up removed my ability to play. It's like being in a boxing match with your hands tied behind your back while the other guy just batters you. There are so many ways to tune him though, and I really hope they do. Maybe he destroys everything played with more than a certain base power; maybe it destroys last card played, or first card played, or highest power card, or highest cost card, or a random card; maybe it only destroys revealed cards (still OP imo but it'd allow for a bit more counterplay). Literally anything would be better than going into every match praying I don't run into this one card.
Hey MOLT, just tried my own version of this deck with cards I have at around 1000 CL and it's super fun, thanks for the vid! Here's the list if anybody's interested, ive won more games than I expected lol Nightcrawler, Zero, Ebony Maw, Angela, Luke Cage, Armor, Mobius M., Lizard, Wolfsbane, Hulkbuster, Negasonic Teenage Warhead (discount Alioth to play on turn 5 or 6), Typhoid Mary.
Alioth is a horribly designed card. You're spot on with your comparison to older Aero and Leader, it feels like a card from a different era of SNAP. It needs an adjustment, which I hope we'll see in October.
Imo, Alioth feels worse than Galactus Spiderman, or Leech Leader meta, just because he seems be fitting in a lot of decks. Most games in turn 6 is just a guessing game, if they play Alioth or not. It's not fun at all.
Alioth is so much easier to dodge though or mess up. Leach and Leader are literally unavoidable on the field. Old Spider-Man (and to an extent new one) as well.
@@Ryuuk00 True. Those metas were horrible, but you could atleast retreat. Going t6 into Alioth is a gamble, and sometimes you lose trying to play around Alioth, only for them to play something else.
Literally armor or cosmo counters him 2 lanes he can’t do nothing he’s not the problem you are, legit swap cards around. Not that hard, can’t blame a card because you like to be different and not use 2 cards that counter the problem..
I wasn't around for aero and leader when they were like what you said, but you make a lot of sense. What i hate about alioth is that there is next to zero counter play for it, even if you know it's coming most of the time you can't do shit about it except maybe if you have some kind of mov deck, which is stupid to me. So yeah, I don't want to hate the card but as is i think it's not balanced ! Great deck tho
@NoonSlayer-wy6nd if you already know for sure they have it, which you don't in ladder. Therefore it's uncounterable, bit like galactus actually "hey see everything you did since 6 turns ? Let's make it useless and irrelevant with one card"
In the second to last match, the opponent only laid down a lone Darkhawk because you laid Mobius down on turn 5, negating their 2 Ravonna effects they’d been building up.
I honestly think Alioth is okay. It brings back a game play of playing for priority instead of dodging it like we’ve gotten used to because of Kitty and other metas that wanted to go low and do a big turn 6 flip. It does create a “feels bad” moment, most definitely when you have either lose a 50/50 to Alioth or it’s unexpected because your cards don’t even get to play out. But honestly, that’s kind of the point and I don’t think Alioth warrants a nerf because of that. I do think the decks that have been using him the most (HE Lockdown and Galactus) are more exacerbating the oppression, but Galactus just got his knees shot with the OTA bringing him to 5 Power and idk if HE can take a nerf without falling apart or reprimanding any other deck those cards could be played in. I’m any case, Alioth is a fine card. You have to pressure aggressively in order to beat it because banking on a big turn 6 will either get the big storm cloud people will move in to oppressing big turn 6 decks with Sandman.
I go back and forth on Alioth, feels the worst in lockdown. Losing that way just sucks. So I think it’s more the synergies around him that are busted. I’ve been beating him the last few weeks tho, love a Ghost Rider or Jubilee play in his lane.
The only change I think you need to make with Alioth is to change the destroy effect to happen at the end of the turn instead of on reveal. allows for enemy cards to be played and still get their effects off, but still die. Also allow for potential Armor/Cosmo counter reads.
Armor maybe, but Cosmo? How would this change make Cosmo better against Alioth? Cosmo NEVER works without priority because he only stops on reveal effects and therefore cannot possibly affect a card that has already been revealed.
@@V1Variant But you can already Cosmo Alioth if you have priority. His proposed change doesn't affect that, except possibly to take it away by making the ability not on-reveal.
I am kind of in the middle about Alioth. It sucks to lose to him but when I see him coming I can try and gain priority so I can counter it, and MMM helps with the Wave play that usually happens before he is played. On the other hand I think he should be changed to destroy either the highest power card played or the first card played. Also great deck build.
I made a similar deck, except I have shuri, red skull, Sera, and task master in there. It's Been doing well! About 78% win rate after about 13 games so far!!
@@Xevo234 I mean, it's certainly not exactly the same, but it does use kitty, armor, and basically has every other card that he has in his deck. Just the 4 cards I mentioned previously are the difference. So pretty much 75% similar. 😂
I think alioth is fine, it's just the galactus abusers that suck. other than that is just a guess to pick a lane. If alioth gets a nerf then Shan should only destroy one card at a location over 9 power.
Alioth doesn’t remind me of OG Aero and Leader at all. You have to pick the correct lane at least. The other 2 would have affected the other 2 or in Leader‘s case all 3 lanes. That’s a huge difference. Now that Galactus is absolute garbage Alioth is fine as it is.
They just nerfed Galactus because of Alioth being too strong with him. I wish they'd nerf the new problem cards instead of just the older cards that support them. I know they want to sell the new cards, but come on.
What they need to do is really think about a cards effect before releasing it😂.....because I mean what did they think would happen with cards like that
Alioth should probably get some kind of rework, and I agree he should only take out one card. It wouldn't change much since it's mainly a T6 card, but it would be helpful. It is anti-climactic to lose to him (and let's be honest... it's not that fun to even play him since your opponent doesn't even stand a fair chance).
I think the card simply needs changed to it only destroys the card with priority, it’s so annoying that it just ignores a big mechanic in the game, most of the time it doesn’t matter if you got your on reveal off
Alioth should stop one random card from revealing if multiple cards are played in that lane. And the cards power should be reduced 1 or 2 points as well.
The deck runs Hulk Buster, and still has Angela, I would keep her, and add Elsa next week. Sucks that Kitty is back to being a worst case turn 6 draw tho.
I’m fine with Alioth, it was Galactus Alioth that was unfair to begin with. I’m fine losing to him as long as it’s not Galactus. I can see why people are frustrated but Cosmo/armor exist.
Well even if the loki decks plays mobius too and both of you have it down on board you still block his cards discount, so in my opinion mobius is good even if loki decks play him too
Your analogy about alioth i only agree with if it's alioth + galactus reason why is old aero and leader didn't want you to predict where they gonna play for their op effect to work but with alioth you still have to on none galactus decks and galactus just remove that limitation from alioth
I don't really like Alioth. He does seem way too strong. A rework like destroying the lowest/highest power card your opponent played would be okay, but I feel like then Sandman would creep back into the Meta and he isn't that fun to play either. Maybe if he was a souped-up version of Negasonic? Destroying himself and all of the cards your opponent played there that turn? Making it so you can't just insta-win the location unless you were already winning it beforehand. Idk. It seems like an almost impossible card to balance.
Stealing this deck idea. Threw in Sera. Don't have Jeff anyways and yes I know she's not a 1 for 1 replacement. But this way I can Typhoid under a Goose lane (or that location equivalent) with Hit Monkey and Mysterio. Also did Wasp instead of Hulk Buster. Personal preferences.
Re: Alioth I think it's a terrible design. It kills EVERYTHING played in a path. That's just absurd imo and way too powerful. If lockout prison decks are something they are trying to limit the intro of Alioth is the complete opposite of that narrative.
Don't worry, I have tested this after the OTA and it is still really strong! Another video coming soon!
Just the way it is, or did you sub out KP?
Yes I was wondering on that
@@ssjnimma Kitty is still easy power for Angela, I wouldn't personally sub her in a deck that wants to play a ton of cards
