In the lead up to Valentine’s Day we will be featuring some clips from the television and radio archives on the theme of love and romance.
First up is a story of two sisters who have never been kissed by their long term boyfriends.
Listowel writer John B. Keane responds to a letter from a girl who has been going out with someone for 14 years and has never been kissed. As for her sister, she’s been going out with someone for 9 years and all she has to show for it is a bag of chips every Sunday night. But Keane says these girls are to blame. They should leave these men and “get married to fellas who want to get married”. People should “marry first and worry later”. They shouldn’t wait for perfect circumstances, because they won’t come.
