    Just found your channel. Please do put videos of Norway {or anywhere else} on here. We have been on holiday to West Bay many times, and on one of them visited Chesil beach and Portland. The whole area is so beautiful. Thank you so much.

      Thanks Carol. I still have a couple of Norway videos to put out but I don't anyone wanted to see them in springtime so I will put them out this winter. I appreciate that anyone takes the time to watch one of my videos, if they give me a like even better. But I really appreciate the people that leave me a comment. I've just come home and I can see you've commented on other videos too so I'll answer them shortly.

    Hi Joe, your stories about the shipwrecks are interesting. I have walked along Chesil beach and it’s so enjoyable. And I’ve seen the stretch of water you mentioned in your video at Portland it is quite rough. Yes for the trip to Norway 🇳🇴 I hope you have an amazing holiday. I like the music to your video too. 👌

    • @JoeCoastal

      Hi Marilyn. Yes the race the runs out from Portland Bill is notorious. I've spoken to many local sailors and the general consensus seems to be you just don't go round there. For the music I've started using epidemic sound. They have a good selection and I like this particular artist. I've used a couple of hers and I'm likely to use more.

      I'm not promising anything but maybe. Is there anything particular you'd like to see or hear about? I did cover littlesea to Abbotsbury on the coast path. This may be to your liking.

    i used to fish at these beaches 40 years ago and it was a commonly held belief that Chesil was a new beach that appeared over night after a particularly bad storm, not sure how true but at that time the only new style twin post reflective aluminium road signs on the coast road were exclusively for Chesil Beach and it was conspicuously absent from all the other old style painted cast iron single post road signs.

    • @JoeCoastal

      That's an interesting story. I wonder where it came from. I've read a number of stories of events that have occurred on chesil that date far back in history so the only way I could imagine it could be described as new is maybe its only been there for 500 or so years. In all honesty I don't know all the answers. I'm not a historian. I'm just a bloke with a TH-cam channel.

    Interesting video on my favourite stretch of Dorset coast. Have you considered wearing a chest camera to focus on the scenery around and ahead instead of your face throughout the video, you could still comment but we can watch everything as you are walking? It seems a lost opportunity not to show more. 😊

    • @JoeCoastal
      @JoeCoastal  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks David. I usually do show a lot more scenery in my videos but for a combination of reasons I didn't put so much in this time. One reason was that I've already done a video that includes this bit. Follow the link below. I think that one has all the scenery of this stretch.

    Thank you for a lovely and informative video 👍🏻😊 I will absolutely watch your videos from Norway. I am a Norwegian myself and would love to see your views on my country, which is very diverse in many ways, depending on where you are. I really hope you will have lovely weather and get the chance to see the Northern lights. Where are you heading to in Norway?

    • @JoeCoastal
      @JoeCoastal  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Torunn. Thanks again for your support.
      We are going on a cruise (not my choice) and will be visiting Stavanger, Tromso and Alta. All these places look amazing and I can't wait to see them for myself. I worry that I'll find the ship restrictive as I can't just wander off and find somewhere quiet but I'm sure I'll cope.

    • @TravellingTorunn
      @TravellingTorunn ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JoeCoastal Hi Joe! All these places are lovely and I am sure you will have a great time. I suppose you will have the opportunity to join guided tours in all these cities, but I see that it would be great to have some time to explore on your own. You will most likely not see the Northern lights in Stavanger, but it actually happens that far south now and then - also here in Bergen where I live now and then. Tromsø and Alta are in the Northern Light area. Fingers crossed for no clouds, and for Aurora activity. I have seen it just a couple of times. The light pollution in a bigger city like Bergen takes the power from the Northern Lights and I would have to find dark areas in the evening and the night. And I haven't done that. Have an amazing trip! 🙂

    • @JoeCoastal
      @JoeCoastal  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We definitely intend to explore for ourselves but planning to do some research as to what we should look out for. Any suggestions would be gratefully accepted. Places we should go, food we really must try, history we should read about, myths too. I'm already listening to a Scandinavian history podcast but I need more direction. What do you as a Norwegian think I must do or try?

    • @TravellingTorunn
      @TravellingTorunn ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JoeCoastal I haven't been to Stavanger or Alta for very long time, but I have visited Tromsø more recently. I'll be happy to try and find some relevant info, perhaps some good links in English 🙂 But I will have to know which season you are travelling 🙂 Like you won't be able to see the Northern Lights in the summer 😃
