- Model Railways Toy Fair Bargain Hunt: June 2023. In this video Pauline and I visit the Bolton Toy fair at the football stadium. We buy lots of wagons and look at lots of fab models including a late production Wrenn A4.

another great video guys i would defo .had the joueff class 40 have got one already and it does run well although the lights do not work now. always informative and knowledgeable some great bargains aswell

Hi Harry we do try to but not all dealers have info we can use especially at the fairs. It's easier at exhibitions as most of them have premises or trade online. Thanks for watching Rick
There was some really tempting items there Rick I liked the A4 in black I have a hornby one looks the business ,the dog on wheels I had one of them when I was a toddler mine was grey I called it wool wool 😂,you should of treated Bobby to the spratts wagon 😊

You assume right Tim. Novelty trains are fun but addictive. Those Mainline tankers are some of my favourites and it was good to find a couple more. All the best Rick

Good fair so to see, lots of bargains.
Not seeing much that got my intrest, but again you only see what the camera picks up.
Good of you to pick wagons of the same livery, in railway terms it's called a homogeneous train, where all wagons are of the same brand and make.
To see trains like that wasn't so common to see wright up until the 60's-70's, but now it has almost become a common standard, and this all has to do how goods depot's functioned then and now.
It generally comes down to less, but bigger clients and fewer goods depot's, that make the homogeneous train of today.
I think the daily milk trains for London is one of the oldest examples of a homogeneous trains in the UK
Problem in modeling is that all the wagon numbers are the same, if you want to build a train like that.
I know a few modelers who go as far as changing the wagon numbers to achieve the actual difference in a homogeneous train.

2:10 Usually shortened to BTTB. They were the primary TT brands in Europe. While they don't go together with Triang TT, they are an exact fit to the Hornby TT range, being 1:120 scale/ There is also a Rokal box hiding there (which was one of the few western TT manufacturers)
11:05 Those are Swiss beer vans, with the vehicles being a pre-UIC Swiss design so a lot less boring compared to the standardized cars of later years
16:12 Swiss EW1, Lima only put schematics and article numbers on the boxes, never descriptive text
17:14 The change of the motor type and retooling for cast metal chassis is sort of the demarcation line for the Lima Nova era.
17:47 These came in blue and green, with matching coaches. Not that common in Europe
19:00 Pre rebuild Renfe class 333 in the original green scheme. Also available in DSB colors (as in true Electrotren style they just repainted it instead of making a true DSB MY)
19:45 Fleischmann V60, that one is prime Inglenook material
24:01 These could be based on some Italian vehicle. Came in many colors as it was the cheaper start set vehicle
32:50 Did the companies pay for having their logo's on starter set vehicles? As these were obviously not based on a real livery

Hi Anthony, the Daffodil car was quite the eye catcher wasn't it. I think it was £70? I've seen used ones for over £100 online! I try to get as many facts in as possible but facts need checking so I have quite a few reference books to back up the web browsing. All the best Rick.
