Ah, Djentle Djiant.
Beautiful.
Great description.
Great one!
😂
That was clever! Props to you, friend!
This is uncanny, I was just listening to this thinking i wonder what Geebz would think about this song.... and here it is!! thanks dude.
From 5:56 and onwards was super trippy
I was so confused for a minute
Geebz probably felt the track wasn't proggy enough!
I thought something was wrong with my phone
Rare case of trippy one being the video and not me :DDDD
This is the modern metal vibe version of Gentle Giant's great vocal arrangements!
I always hear deep cuts to In Glass Houses or Octopus when I listen to this track
I really need to get into Gentle Giant then! Love Haken
dude they're the absolute unsung heroes of progressive music! For me by far the best and criminally underrated. Free Hand would be a good album to start with@@brentos5001
5:55-6:33 was a "psylocybin moment". I read Geebz's mind!
Lmao I was wondering what the fuck was happening with my connection xD
"A prog salad bar of some of the top shelf style dynamics."
Well said. Sums it up nicely.
I knew Geebz would like this one for the Muppets alone given he works with puppets.
Now you are ready to do the Messiah Complex, its a 5 part track from their album Virus. It directly ties in to this and some other elements of their discography.
This album is what hooked me on Haken, didn't care much for their older work but The Mountain and everything after I've loved, especially Affinity.
This is the first thing I've heard from them and also got hooked. Instantly. I never really cared much for "rock opera" type of music, but surprisingly I actually like the first two albums, especially Visions. And yeah, Affinity is great!
@@MikeThePole I'll have to go back at some point and listen to them again, it's been a long time. I don't listen to nearly as much prog/metal these days.
Mountain was the first Haken I listened to. Cockroach King was the first song I heard by the band. Mountain was a really easy album to get into and love from start to finish. I loved it so much that when the earlier albums arrived, I was sort of hesitant to listen. It honestly took about 5 times listening to each album top to bottom before they became my new favourite. Haken is one of those bands that you can just put on the album and go from start to finish and feel fulfilled. There's just something about the complete experience, and I'm glad it was still the same (for me, at least) with Fauna. I hope you can go back and truly enjoy their earlier albums. They truly are both masterpieces (Aquarium and Visions)
The first song I ever heard from them, and it got me hooked
This was the first Haken song I'd ever heard. I listened to it and watched the video many many times before moving on to some of their other epic songs. All I can say is it's probably THE best way to introduce someone to Haken. If they can't enjoy the quirky humour of this video and the combination of genres that are mixed into the song, then they'll honestly never understand the magic of Haken overall. It's pretty much that simple.
Love it. Gave me those Gentle Giant/Kansas/Yes vibes. Maybe you can do a music video with your puppets someday. That would be cool.
My brain broke around 6:20 with all of the extra-dimensional warping and Geebz phasing jn and out of the shadows babbling about meter shifts. I must admit, I've never heard this track quite like this. 🤯
Ah the first song i ever listened to by Haken. And such a banger too. Still one of my favorites.
HAIL TO THE KING
"Prog at it's best" AMEN
I was lucky enough to see them open for Devin Townsend back in 2020, three shows before they pulled the plug on the tour as things were about to shut down globally. It was an absolute treat. They are every bit as note-for-note impeccable live as the studio stuff.
Wow. That must've been amazing!
Love this song! Just saw Haken playing in Bangkok, what a treat! Prog Salad Bar! OMG! That is how I'm going to order my music from now on! 🤣🤣🤣
Love this song! Glad to see you giving it a go!
WOOOO Haken! Lets go!
I'm honestly surprised this song hasn't been done yet on this channel! It's such a fun and epic track
One of, if not the most, wacky and mad-cap prog metal song of all time and one of the best for me too.
I can assure you, in live they are insanely good. The voice is just perfect, Ross never miss a single note.
Did anyone else have problems with the audio about halfway thru? Seemed like it repeated a 10 second loop a few times before straightening itself out. Fantastic song choice
In their recent Asia/Aussie tour they played Crytallised, I've listed to tons of Haken, never listened to that before. It was a 20 minute wonder! How incredibly lucky were we to hear a 20 min long song live from such a band?! Fantastic!
man i've been waiting for you to hear this one, such a unique song and so much fun to listen to every time
the meter shifts, man!!!
Love this one from Haken. Just solid an fun.😊
You should check out this new band I heard called flagman, best way to describe for me is a mix of primus and mr bungle with metal influences. Amazing stuff and right up your alley
The youtube algorithm just sent me down the Flagman rabbit hole this week. Absolutely love that band now. They're touring with Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, which is why I think it was suggested to me. To bad they're only part of the tour in Florida and not coming out to California.
Yes, on Yes
Yo Geebz, you should listen to Haken's song "Elephants never forget" it's similarly insane
also Ross Jennings is singing like Gentle Giant's Derek Schulman on this one!
My favorite track from Haken, pure masterpiece.
Looks like there's some audio/encoding problems happening from 5:56 onwards, luckily it didn't deduct that much from the insane experience that is this song!
This song along with the two that come immediately after it on the album, In Memoriam and Falling Back to Earth, was the trio of songs that elevated Haken from "promising newcomers" to "prog metal royalty." What a hallmark of a song, seriously!
Falling Back to Earth has one of the most beautiful parts in music history, to me at least.
Such a great tune!
Been hoping for this one for a long time!
About time you checked one of the best puppeted songs in history! Awwright!
ive never head this... them going full CAB(the band)... wow
Please dive into their whole catalog starting with the Aquarius album, but Visions or The Mountain are peak for me.
Haken might be my all time favourite, just after Pink Floyd
Haken are easily one of the most talented bands going right now. There are very few bands that can hold a candle to their inventiveness.
More Haken Please, They are just the best.
Thank you Geebz
Songs like this are the reason why, for me, prog metal is the best genre ever.
Such a great song. And this full version is so much better than the "single" version.
Thank you for your breakdown and reaction. As always, a pleasure to watch and listen! :)
(even with the strange hickup in the middle of the video, these things happen. :D)
Please check out some stuff from the band Wheel
As good live. Amazing band.
i've listened prog my whole life and I've always been prog lover foremost. I found this band just about a year ago through their album Virus. I mean, I have heard their songs before, but in context where I never realized to ask the band. Anyway, I listened only for the Virus (especially Messiah Complex) for like two months through and through and was hooked. I was so hooked I didn't even realize to look more into their stuff, but when I did, my whole life changed. Now this is definitely maybe even the best prog band ever to me ever. I can't really categorize bands and Vildhjarta is still the only band I can say is the best band ever to me and no other band I can put in order of preference, but this comes so close.
Heavy and quirky. So good
knew youd love this lol!!
My opinion only... ONE OF THE BEST BANDS ON EARTH!
this is amazing.
Haha...That's funny, I have always said that Ross Jennings sounded like Jon Anderson doing heavier music.
argh! so crazy and good!
Great song, great band. I'm telling you bro, Arabs In Aspic: The Magic of Sin. Phenomenal band.
Wowzers. This song just blew my mind. 🤯 What an incredible piece of music! 🎶 🎵 ❤❤
Recommending a band to you called Kaonashi. They're a self-described "emo mathcore" band that change their sound a bit album to album and have a VERY unique vocalist.
I'd recommend the song "Why Did You Do It?", but the algorithm might like their newer track "I Hate The Sound Of Car Keys" a bit better.
There something wrong with the upload in the middle, it starts to skip.
A bit of old Bungle vibes, fishbone...
Haken
Are those the AKG K240s?
Are this is Opeth?
Haken are the new Gentle Giant... You MUST react to their "Elephants never forget". I promise you won't regret.
I fell off of Haken after Virus. Need to check up on them. Affinity and The Mountain were my jam a decade ago.
The new album is closer to Affinity and The Mountain then Virus IMO.
@@Arrow2theACL Nice, thanks! Looked so much like Soen's album with the anthropomorphic rhinoceros, I was likely gonna check it out eventually.
I liked Virus😭
I love Virus. I don't much care for Fauna though. To each their own I guess.
