Thank God gymnasts like this still exist, they deserve a special prize for their most feminine, elegant and aesthetically pleasing performance. Who cares about scores and medals, just sit back and enjoy....
Now this is art! So beautiful, touching and moving. This floor routine captivated me out of everyone's in the women's individual finals. There were tears. Thank you Lieke for keeping the 'artistic' in 'artistic gymnastics' 😍
+Mausolo M Very beautiful and difficult dance elements. I actually think her teammate Eythora Thorsdottir's floor routine is even more wonderful. They both only do two tumbling passes though. Imagine if they were to add just one more tumbling pass of moderate difficulty. They'd be much more competitive, but I respect that they've chosen to emphasize the other qualities, namely their beautiful choreography, emotional connection with the music, and ability to create a mood. They command the attention of everyone in the arena when they step out onto the floor. They epitomize the artistry in Artistic Gymnastics.
My favorite routine. I really love her. You just cant compare this to the americans. They would never able to do this. Seeing this just makes me really proud to be Dutch :)
+Sara D I wouldn't say that was true of all the American girls. I can see Bailie Key or Madison Kocian delivering something moving and artistic like this piece. The heavy hitters, power gymnasts like Simone, Gabby, Aly or Maggie - not so much. The problem is some countries are bringing too much of one side and not enough of the other; the sides being difficulty and artistry. Judging needs to be designed to encourage both.
+nightswimmer99 I really do appreciate Bailie Key's quirky floor routine from this season, and her choice of leotards from Nationals (shades of Kim Zmeskal's) were so creative and reverent. But I still see a bit of tentativeness in Bailie's facial expression that leaves me with the impression that she doesn't quite own the performance: which is expected because she's only 16. Sanne is in her 20s and an exquisite, seasoned performer. If only Ms. Wevers could work an E tumbling pass into this routine without diminishing any of the artistic impression of this piece, I would have been ecstatic to see her on the podium. She has the flexibility and the control to make the Y-turns look effortless. Here's hoping she upgrades a Mustafina Y-turn into her program for Rio next year. This program truly is a work of art.
Justin Ho Agree on all points. For Bailie, experience may add that confidence. Lieke only needs a bit more stamina. This routine is so beautiful you don't really want to tweak it, but to get rewarded with a medal she needs the added difficulty.
+Justin Ho +nightswimmer99 Wow! I had no idea Lieke and Sanne were that old! I thought they were maybe 16 or 17... after reading your comment I looked it up and found out they're actually 24 years old! That's crazy! They are awesome for being that "old" (in this sport) and so flexible and elegant, but considering their age and the injuries they've each had, I see why they might be hesitant to add tumbling difficulty into their routines. But I agree, without the extra difficulty, medalling isn't likely.
Why? This floor routine would never ever ever medal at all with todays standards. She mounts with a double tuck? Really? Gymnasts dismount with more difficult skills than that, this routine was ridiculously easy. I'm all for grace/elegance, but I need to see good tumbling too, otherwise the whole thing is kind of ruined.
In the old day it was equally about the tumbling AND the artistry! Now, I appreciate what the Karolyis have brought to gymnastics in terms of tumbling. However they forgot gymnastics is not only about the next tumbling pass, but expression. Bravo Lieka! There are fans who still appreciate your style!
Beautiful 😍😍 I realy love this kinda way of gymnastics. So artisty , it can rly touch your heart. There is this way of gymnastics with turns and dance to build your difficulty (artisty) or with huge tumble passes (thats rly cool😍 Im so in love with gabby and simone). Which style u prefere is an opinion. I rly love this style. Also just the rest she doing her excersise with. I love the Dutch gymnastics style ☺😍
Magistral!!!!!
I think Lieke or Eythora should've gotten the Longines Elegance prize instead of Giulia Steingruber... Then again, it's not really an elegance prize it's like an achievement prize. It shouldn't be called that.
+Ilise Angel Exactly, I'm not surprised, the Swiss company of Longines awarded the Price for Elegance to the Swiss gymnast Steingruber. Like many other things in AG, it shows the level of subjectivity and corruption.
+TheBourgas1 True, Yao Jinnan got it in 2014, and though I was quite impressed with steingruber at worlds (QF 2nd all around!), it shouldn't have been called an Elegance Prize... Do you know who won in 2013?
+Ilise Angel Kyla Ross. And Ana Porgras was the 2011 winner. But allow me to remind you, Shawn Johnson (usually not a gymnast people would relate to elegance) was the winner of this prize in 2007.
LMAO so salty on Simone. So where is the gymnastics in here? 2 tumbling passes only. You should probably just watched dance if you like that kind of artistic style LMAO.
Gracie C. Im totally not agree with Casa azul (I love Simone😍) but what ur saying here isnt true at all. First of all, it is called ARTISTY gymnastics. second of all the Netherlands isnt that good at tumbling. it is better at the beautiful dance, gymnastics jumps and turns. They use that to build their difficulty. (Gymnasts like Simone (the most gymnasts) are huge tumblers, they r using theie tumbles)). This is another kinda gymnast. She uses the turns and art to get her difficulty and doesnt take many risks on hard tumbling just more easy but rly clean. So just to be clear that there are two styles of floor routines. Which you prefer thats an opinion. (At least we have variated rourines to watch😉)
Just like most fans of gymnasts who do big tumbling are salty towards those who are more artistic. "They can't even do tumbling" "This is gymnastics not ballet or dance" "If you want artistry just go away and watch dance" Every gymnast has their own way on making good use of the code so they can score high enough. Just because someone doesn't do big tumbling skills doesn't mean that person is a bad gymnast.
Thank God gymnasts like this still exist, they deserve a special prize for their most feminine, elegant and aesthetically pleasing performance. Who cares about scores and medals, just sit back and enjoy....
@@hazelnutspred3348 Truth hurts doesn't it? That's very kind of you. But not all fans prefer acrobatic compulsory elements, but rather perfomances.
@@annapavfan4680 who even are you

@@hazelnutspred3348 That's twice I see you, wishing death upon others...How rude of you.
This is one of the few, almost inexistent, routines that can touch your heart.
agree😉😍
+Mausolo M So captivating, poetry in motion.
TheBourgas1 I guess in the European Games the commentator made that statement, it's beautiful.

This routine and Eythora's
Really love her style...more enjoyed to watched than those with big tumblings

So beautiful I almost cried
my god...kind of puts the majority of floor performances to shame.

Wooow that musiiic, makes it more beautiful.
The Wevers sisters have such charming presence in their craft.
You have a typo l: Delete Wever. Insert “every Dutch gymnast”. Fixed it for you.
amazing
absolut gorgeous =D
True art!
thank you!! BRILLIANT WORK !! SPECTACULAR! VERY MUCH APPRECIATED! BLESSINGS!!
amazing just amazing

Artistry that can challenge the Russians!!! Finally

Can someone explain me the deductions of this routine? I did not find 1,4 anywhere.
Very nice
She could've done a quintuple spin! Hope she does that next year.
What's the point of doing it? More room for deduction yet the same DV as a quadruple spin
such a beautiful girl
