Joy division as a live act was so good at creating such powerful tension and then popping that bubble at the perfect time. Crazy how much loud applause can be heard right in the middle of day of the lords when the band is working the hardest. Thanks for uploading!
Yep their powerful unrelenting tension just drove the vibe of J.D home, its like a mechanical syncopation of digital caos ,just when it was raising up its head up over the usual analogue sounscape,ALL ABOUT THE TENSION AIN'T IT,LONG LIVE IAN CURTIS🖤👍
I was 21 when I was overwhelmed by Joy Division, my first thought was a new version of the Doors but apon revision, they were just Joy Division and that was a really great thing 😳❤️🖤❣️
this is without a doubt my favorite live version of The Sound of Music. or just my favorite version in general. this whole live performance is an experience itself
Yeah I remember as I was watching the gig at the time there was this guy with a large potato on his shoulder, at the time I wondered what he was doing.....now I know.
Here are the young men, left to blind destruction waiting for our sight. smashing it to bits and showing how it should be done.....angels, the lot of them
well its just amazing to go back and just how awesome this group was. I love it. thank you so very much for uploading this set, I'm 63 and I'm in musical heaven.
I love his dancing. Totally sets him apart from all the other frontmen of his time. Awkward, I agree. No one can replicate his shamanistic dancing style
@@thebasedgodmax1163 BS!!! his movements to the music came from his soul...nothing uncontrolled about his moves at all...if you imply his moves were him replicating the moves of his epileptic fits I also disagree...dudes moves are measured and precise to the groove...why the fck can't anyone accept the dude was just the way the dude was...was he THAT amazing?
Great. Saw Warsaw but somehow never JD. Pure beauty. I think Barney built that synth for nothing and Hookys Rick was a 100 quid copy. But the sound!! Like a firestorm of anguish.
A lot of Joy Division's best songs were where Hook and Sumner swapped guitar and bass. God, I just remembered the video recording of this from the 1980s - it was pretty much inaudible...
It's funny to think this is the same Era when U2 was getting going. Where would a full blown Joy Division gone on to. One of music's greatest what ifs. JD FOREVER!!!
So many different variations on the lyrics to Colony (album, peel sessions, this recording, etc.) Is there somewhere to find a collection of Ian's writings or the non-album versions of lyrics?
There are lots of unpublished/unused lyrics contained in "Touching from a Distance" by Deb Curtis. I have paperback, didn't find hard cover yet. Shanti Shanti.
My favorite band by far. And I’ve been listening to rock of all ages for more than 30 years now. So original and ahead of its time. Ian Curtis for a couple seconds sounds a lot like Jim Morrison in that song “Higher”.
Stephen Morris’s drumming on Transmission is out of the world. He’s a walking drum machine for keeping the tempo up that long.
PERFECT MUSICIANS. LIKE THE CLASH.
Topper Headon was named "Human Drummer Machine".
USMCLP COVID-19(79) LIVE(EVIL)Transmission
These guys were born to succeed there's no question, Ian alone made history in just two and a half years time. Incredible
The hi-hat on the beginning of Age of Consent is also nuts.
A little bit too much out of speed !

I love Joy Division. Up to this day, no band has ever come close to the raw emotions of their songs.
👏💛💛
The Smith's? Who I also love are pure poetry
velvet underground?? album one and two??
Joy Division is The Velvet Underground of the post-punk.
Ian Curtis matched Lou Reed.
nirvana has
THE SOUND OF THE DRUMS IS AMAZING. IT SOUNDS SO MECHANICALLY ELECTRONIC,
Stephen the drum machine Morris
Makes me wish they had done something experimental with the studio cut of it ... maybe a timpani and mallets with extra microphones.
12:14...... DO YOU FEEL IAN'S POWER? IAN'S FEELINGS? THATS INCREDIBLE
It's great to see Barney on bass and Hooky on Guitar on the Sound of Music.
why did they switch
Same in Atrocity Exhibition
Plus, an awesome song, one of my top 5 JD
Wow. Just… woah. Simply one of the heaviest concerts of all time. “Day of the Lords” 🤘🏽

My goodness this is excellent. The emotion bleeds through the sound quality.
As good as it gets on Transmission. Thanks for this remaster. Absolutely spine tingling stuff.

Great footage of one of my favorite bands, somber sure but more influential than anybody will ever admit, epic bass playing

was your comment so you good you had to write it twice?
No I was just so hammered when I wrote it
I was here. I will never forget.
It sounds stunning at 16:00. Sounds synth-like. I've not seen these clips before, so thanks for remastering and sharing them.
A Transcendant 2000 played by Barney whilst Ian took over guitar - also used occasionally live for 'Disorder'.
I was 13 when I listened them for the first time in 1988. Everything changed in my life after that...
Ian C still sends shivers down my back 2019, same as when i first listened on peel shows many moons ago. RIP I.C

Wow really eye opening, really shows you what a JD gig was like
Thank you for the upload. My all time favourite band. RIP Ian.
Que triste não ter um show desses em alta resolução.
Excellent work on the remaster. Listening with headphones, and yeah, no painkillers necessary! Thanks!
The Holy Voice of I.C.

Ian taught David Byrnes from talking heads how to dance 🤘
Brilliant footage; brilliant show. Thank you so much for sharing.
Total godsend for uploading this!!!! 🍀
Ian was smart enough to realize he was in perhaps in the best band in the world between 1978-1980.
wut?
An amazing relic: funny to reflect on the fact that this is all that remains...
It's not. There is bit more. The "Here Are The Young Men " video at least plus what other odds and ends lying about. Have a look. Don't give up.
This was recorded by Bob Jones at Richard Boon’s behest; not by Richard Boon. Bob deserves the credit for this historic recording.
Phenomenal historical find! It's hard to believe three musicians could make such an all-encompassing sound.

thats cool, the guitarist was playing bass on the first track.
Hooky wearing his fav blue shirt!

Joy Division unas de las mejores bandas!!
A dança do Frankenstein! Isso sim é uma dança única e legitima!!!
Frankenstein's dance! This is a unique and original dance!!!
Dude, great call. Ian's dancing brings a lot to the overall performance. Great comment.
The forefathers of skinny puppy, ministry, tool......... Thanks so much
Cabaret voltaire might have something to say about that 😂
So pure...
Joy Division. Sempre. Ian ❤
Well done, and thank you! Always wonderful to see more footage of Joy Division.
Il est parfait ce concert, j'adore le son, la batterie est bien percutante, et la setlist superbe ! J'aime Joy division !
no indi band is even close to that. This sick sound done in the 70s, is pure magic
just WOW!!!! speechless but thankQ u?? xx
What a cool surprise to find this. Thank you for posting!
Pure genius.
I really love ( try ) to play their music with my guitar . Sometimes I feel what Ian's felt in writing his songs incredible
Can you imagine being there ?? My head would've exploded
2021 nothing to see here... apart from a genius at work.
Buzzcocks tour support, saw them at Blackburn the day after, absolutely magnificent, both bands.

Is it just me or did Ian smile at the end of transmission?
He smiled
Eyes, dark grey lenses smiling at the sun
thing is that Ian was often smiling..it just didn't fit gthe image so there are not many photos of him smiling
Imagine what could’ve been
Makes me sad..
