"I'd rather a lower income if it means I get to live here. Is that dumb?" "I don't know but it's how Canada was built." Truer words have never been spoken.
"I love to be with people. Interacting, sharing..." "You know, Mike, when you steal a person's watch, that's not called sharing." "...That's been a harsh lesson for me."
Red: "You don't take on two million dollar debt to solve a five thousand dollar problem!" Harold: "That's the way the goverment does it." Sad, but true.
Sounds about right. My local city spends around $500k a year on statues and similar beauty projects and then tears most of them down in a year or two. They once spent around $50k planting a bunch of trees on a "new wildlife sanctuary" and then cut most of them down withing 3 years and then poisoned the rest because the non native trees got infested with an invasive pest. They also cut down a small forest down the road from me and had the balls to call it a "protected wetland" after the logging drove away all the animals. Meanwhile they've ignored the growing homeless population and declining schools due to lack of funding

Not for the first time nor the last, Harold had to learn that you can't make a silk purse from a sow's ear. Especially if that sow's ear has a lot of history and traditions backing it up.
MrDefining by Brits fleeing taxation and Yank royalist fleeing the majority or by murdering indigenous people and exploiting newcomers to work the lands?
Actually Canada was built by the natives. Those that weren't used to cut down trees and build dams were sent back east and killed. Many wound up in europe as mere accessories of the wealthy. Countless beavers died to build Canada.
I love the sequence with the guys in the boat on the lake. I wonder how they filmed it with such a smooth action? No wake from a second boat, no sound of an outboard, and no choppiness from people moving around on the water.
If you look closely at the edge of the water you see the subtle wake of the camera track...they have a camera on a submerged track and slowly pan along the track, it’s barely visible in the water thanks to the low angle shot allowing them to take the 360 degree shot without disturbing the water
Alex Snow no crane but a tight shot zoomed in at a low angle to hide the wake from moving around in a circle...it’s barely visible but you can make it out
Instead of the belts with cutlery, use coconut mats instead or those cheap mats made out of old tires. Put one or two in front of each drive wheel. Works every time. Throw in trunk when done and be on your way. The cutlery job won't be legal.
xristosdomini: I have done similar. you need a sound capture device on board with lapel mics/or lap mics and radio trans to receiver/record, and for vid a small low power vid , we did radio control. very similar out put after sync in post prod. notice delicate back ground sounds , they can also be added in post. all "magic" happens in post. ;)
Harold says he paid the $5000 out of his own pocket. Where did he get the $5000? If he had it all along, then he could have paid it then and not had to get Red involved.
Red mentioned in one episode, as a retort to something Harold said, that Harold was only there as a favor to Red's brother (Harold's father). I read somewhere that it meant that Red had borrowed money from his brother to take charge of the lodge, and took Harold as an employee as a way of paying him back.
The same reason we never hear about Bernice’s family: they can’t stand him and he can’t stand them...Harold is the go-between for his parents and Red despite his dad being Red’s brother
11:00 don't like the addition of the laugh tracks on this segment . it was an interlude in the show , which imho had an important potentiating effect for the humor for the whole episode . you would still laugh at the jokes they made fishing in the halcyon pond .
it wasn't in every show. idk how it worked exactly but sometimes there were different bits like the word game, the animal things, ranger gord, that "advice" thing where they sit on the couches... really the only thing that was in every episode was handyman corner and the meeting at the end.
4:02 " Someone who is unaware of their own weaknesses and shortcomings is obviously in - politics " . Definitely in the top ten truisms of all time .
Haha, the toast piping up got me !
This show is seriously addictive.
Larry Wilson I concur. The best thing about watching these episodes on TH-cam....No Commercial interruptions. Ha.
And it's a great antidepressant . Those prozac drugs are useless .
@@ericmadsen9655 I love that they even put all the episodes on TH-cam for free in the first place. Nobody ever does that.
Larry Wilson, I've watched every episode and I can honestly tell you that there is absolutely nothing serious about this show !

love the story arc of the guys in fishing boat ....its such a serene look .
Red's advice in this episode is one of his best.
Thank you for all your words of wisdom

Moose Thompson's belts!
"Been round a tyre and I'm sure pi(e) was involved!"
Lol!

What is more comical is the people with electric vehicles that have gas generators in their trunks for when they run out of juice.
The boat skit is a dream.
Anyone watching redgreen in 2024? 😅🎉❤
Just me and anyone who likes him. The comedy was pretty good, I gotta tell you.

I dont know about you all but i keep at least 8 rolls of duck tape in every room at my house at all times. ^,..,^
Happy 4th Red Great show
Bet none of you notice Red is always wearing CF cloths. That is funny in itself
Harold has a five thousand dollar problem and Red must solve it and Red fills tires with jelly, Mike and Red uses a car starter to find a way home
Every time I go to the bank somebody goes to the cleaners lol

14:14 It's so weird seeing a new car being used as a picture vehicle in this show.

So this comment is six years old, but on the chance you'll see my reply... My guess is they used a crane for those shots.
@@midwestmatthew Or a camera that could zoom in enough that whatever wake was there was below the screen.

Pontiac Acadian lol haven't seen one in years.
I understand that people still have septics but I can’t believe that even in rural communities people still had outhouses in the early 2000’s
Still do in 2023!
This is a great episode...if only Hap Shawnessy was in it, great nevertheless.
Love this show, except for the sewage poems. I never remembered hearing 3 in an episode. Lol oof they are bad.. 😂

Where's adventures with Bill?
For some reason they took Bill out of the show.. I think he was better than the Walter character.. I miss Bill.. Wish they would bring him back..
Admiral54 Barns he left to work on a sister production and returned in season 13

Harold Trump? The only Trump I know is a certain jackass who went bankrupt several times and became president of the United States.
They have an obsession with Trump. Little did they know the man would become the freakin President of the US! I love it.
Not sure you can call one joke from a Canadian show filmed in 2001 an obsession.
Ricky Cunningham it is when there’s been multiple jokes in a short period of time
Trump had a reality show “The Apprentice” which aired while Red Green was shooting. Instant laugh from instant name recognition.
Trumps been a joke forever
He writes his own jokes
