Would be useful if you named those layers per manipulations done on them. Erratum in narrative - you are not "hitting Ctrl+G twice". In fact, you're just making 2 ungrouped copies of the background layer.

Help: at 1:41 I hear you saying "control - ???" What are you hitting with control to make the image look like a pencil drawing?

Great effect and relatively simple to do. Will try and make a macro of it like John Collins below...
I note that the AP file size balloons to over 100Mb (!) although obviously can save file as e.g. 90% JPEG at circa 7Mb. Does e.g. rasterizing prior to saving reduce primary file size do you know? Thanks.

Yes, .afphoto files can be very big, esp. with lots of layers, history, etc. Rasterizing before exporting should not make any difference (try it!).

Ok, I'll try it, is flattening the same as rasterizing and might that end up with smaller file sizes perhaps?

@@nickknight2095 Pretty much. Rasterising flattens a layer. Document flattening is for all layers.

This was a few years ago now. Was wondering how to make a decent water color effect with a photo and with simple steps. Thank you!

      Hi John
How to make a macro of your commands ??

Very easy - thanks. I have pictures that include a black lighthouse. This method turns it white (removal of blacks in 2nd layer). Can you suggest the best option for retaining at least parts of the image as black but still getting the great water colour look?
