Hiking in the White's sure does bring back memories. Hiking is all about the experience, take your time, slow down, and enjoy the moment, remember it's the journey NOT the destination.

Hey syntax 77, just wanted to thank you for all your videos taking the time to make them. I suffered a spinal court injury back in 1994 playing amateur hockey, and have been a C45 quadriplegic since. I loved hiking in the outdoors and just discovered your videos this spring. Since now I pretty much am bedridden these have been a godsend for passing the time and the next best thing to actually hiking itself. Stay safe and keep those videos coming!-Mike from CT

Hiked up and down Tuckerman Ravine to the Mt. Washington summit with my family as a teen. Both hips replaced at 19, and obviously those beautiful hikes are over.
But you gave me a gift by filming this. It is by far the closest I’ve come to hiking those trails again, and it brings deep joy to my life! Thank you!!

You're the man!!!!! I did the AT in '98 at age 52. I was naive and didn't realize what I was getting into. I went in the Whites blindly. I was fortunate that I could stay in the huts without reservations. I was also fortunate to have had excellent weather. The memory of my sore feet and aching body are back after watching this wonderful production. Thanks for your effort.

I did a similar hike, it was rough. We spent 3 days in there getting up to the summit of Jefferson and back. I know at some point we were on the Six Husbands Trail, don't remember exactly the route, it was 20 years ago. We had never been hiking before and underestimated how Intense it was. So worth it though, so beautiful in there. The Great Gulf Wilderness is amazing.

Impressive accomplishment. Even in my thirties, I would have scheduled 4 days for this loop, if not 5. I've always thought the Whites were easier to walk in winter than summer, simply because one gets to choose foot placement instead of having it dictated by the rocks. You managed to hit most (Ammonoosuc is probably the hardest, but the ends of the Wildcat Range are no joke) of the most difficult hiking of the Whites in this loop. Happy you got the weather to play ball. Well done.

I really enjoyed watching this, twice actually. The fact you drive so far to play in, what's basically my backyard, makes me more appreciative of what i can access in just a couple of hours. Thanks for that... I hiked the NH 48 4K twenty or so years ago, so I am familiar with the trails in your endeavor. That was an absolutely crushing Day Two, kudos to you, but when you started down the Sphinx trail in the dark i was like, Nooooo! But you camped legally, in a much protected area, and then had to regain all that elevation. So again, thanks for your consideration. I'm fascinated with the concept of a Presi-Cat Loop.. The toughest part is finding a campsite. I use a solo tent, so I'm limited compared to your hammock strategy. As a side sleeper i just can't do a hammock, wish i could, but... Anyways, if I were to try this in three days, I'd park at Pinkham Notch, hike up Huntington Ravine to gain the elevation early and still be fresh for Washington, Clay, Jefferson, Adams and Madison. Backtrack a bit to Buttress trail and drop into the Great Gulf. There's a boatload of decent sacrifice sites for a good night's rest. Day Two would be three to five relatively flat miles, depending on where one camps, to the Imp trail and the Cat half of the loop. From there I would look for a stealth or sacrifice site anywhere between Imp tentsite and Mt Hight. Day Three head on up over Carter Dome and the Cats

the rocks on those bare summits are the result of millions of years or freezing and thawing with ice getting into the granite expanding and contracting and cracking the rock into the boulder fields you see today... apparently the whites where taller that the Himalayas millions of years ago

Impressive accomplishment man!! Your legs had to FRIED for days after that. Not many people could people do a hike like that, we’re not only are you gaining serious elevation -but it’s sooo damn rugged and rocky.

I’ve backpacked all those sections but not continuously. YOU are a beast! The scale and elevation and footing is far far more challenging than video portrays. Well done! Sure seems the Sphinx option would not at all work with a tent.....

Thanks, it was great but definitely a challenge :) There are actually some nice flat areas near the intersection of Sphinx and Great Gulf trails that would make for some decent tent camping. 19 Mile Brook Trail near Carter Notch though - not so much, haha. Perhaps theres a hidden gem in there somewhere, but I didn't see anything tent worth. Not legally outside the protection area at least.

sintax77 Thanks! I have never been to that part of the Sphinx but yea, the area around Carter Hut is brutal. We swam in that lake and it was glorious

I did the Pemi Loop some years ago, the most memorable part was this wall of rocks and boulders I had to climb in order to get to a campground.
Seems that if you park on the road by Dolly Copp Campground you can start on the Imp Trail nearby on the other side of the road and finish the hike on the Daniel Webster Scout Trail, there by River you may be able to cross it straight through on your way to you car. There's even a watering hole nearby I would jump in after detaching all the smelly 3 day/2 night clothing (at the Height of Summer only and even then the water is freezing) except for a pair of swim trunks, in this way I take a cold shower which will clean me up before changing into something less smelly and more comfortable for the ride back home.

I was in NH on a road trip on July 9th and 10th. I did two trails along the Kancamagus Highway, and I hiked to the summit of Mt.Washington via the Tuckerman Ravine & Lion Head Trails. I had a chili dog and Coke plus an OJ. It was a nice feat, and I was very happy.

sintax77 Yeah, it was part of a bigger road trip. I hiked to the summit of Mt. Greylock in Massachusetts, too, and I explored some caves...etc. After Mt. Washington, I went to Sebago Lake in Maine. But anyways, I enjoy your videos, and keep doing what you’re doing. I love a good cheeseburger as well.

Nice hike good video I used to live in New Hampshire in Nashua for 3 months used to go upstate into the White Mountains with my with my motorcycle also there's gold in them thar Hills when I was in the Kancamagus Highway in Swiftwater I learn how to prospect got lucky found the penny weight nugget underneath the boulder up there but you don't get rich off of gold prospecting a lot of it's been cleaned out these days
