This is a wonderful example of why I want to be a wildland firefighter. Yes, part of it is the fact that I can't sit still to save my life, but mainly I want to help keep people safe from fire and help people learn the difference between unnatural bad fire and necessary good fire.
Application season is soon. Get in shape. Lots of the work is in steep country, on hot days, at altitude. Budget for buying and breaking in approved boots before day you report. They’re expensive.
